@llkj79444 жыл бұрын
@@arty5279 no doubt, the designer didn't specifie any intended use, but curious how they would work in a practical world say against bear defense for example, out to 10 or 15 yards, tumble or not they are still going to be devastating but, since the vast majority of shotgun users will have smoothbores and for defence in the bush would typically have 18.5 in barrels.

@@llkj7944 True there, even going sideways these things will still come close to hitting their mark, and will still hit like a truck. there are pistol rounds like this. I don't remember the name, but they are nasty. yhe flutes/cuts in the bullet turn the liquid into jets, so your own blood will do extra damage pushing outwards

26:32 HOLY Crap. That was terrifying. Be well guys, thanks for making us laugh and for sharing the footage. Alexey's an incredible thinker and fabricator, it's very generous of him to keep sharing so much with your channel. The man makes unbelievable rounds. So does OG, just in different ways. I can't wait for chapter 4.

Eh, considering what it is used for, a 1% chance of failure could be THE most important 1% at any given time. That's not saying its complete garbage after stopping 1 bullet, but would you really wear a vest that's got a lump or two in it for another year without replacing it? Don't get me wrong, the popular theory that it MUST be trashed after catching one 9mm is a bit just silly. However, for a vest that your wearing when comfort and visability actually matter (say, for an officer that might wear it for several more years and never take another round) sure, you'd think of replacing it for comfort, but of course that doesn't mean the "used" one is worthless. Personally, I'd probably use it as an excuse to replace the everyday wear and shove the used one in an empty car panel. A "compromised" vest would be perfect for that type of use.
@adabsurdum59054 жыл бұрын
@@outcast170 Car panel thing is a good idea! Most people have no idea how worthless car doors are against bullets lol. Also, I think you're right on the "just to be safe" aspect. Motorcycle helmets say to replace them the second they hit the ground. Similar concept
@outcast1704 жыл бұрын
Actually, something I didn't think of, as for effectiveness, of a used vest until that motorcycle helmet comment. A used vest, if shot in the damaged area, while it would most probably stop concecutive rounds, it would not however be spreading the force of the impact out as far as undamaged material. That would actually be something they could easily test though, slap a vest on a couple flat blocks of clay, and see if the impact impression changed as the vest absorbed repeated rounds. Sure, that in no way disputes that a vest is not instantly useless after the very first round. I think the OP has the most probable explanation regarding that. Hence the popular use of "compromised" instead of "destroyed" or "damaged". I would still be interested to see if the compromised armor does transfer the impact any different though, despite not losing the ability to still catch the round.

@@adabsurdum5905 Same applies to fall safety harnesses. One fall or 5 years from date of first use. They however, would suffer from extreme exposure to the elements and do start to look pretty ratty in short order from snagging splinters on telephone poles and so forth in my experience.
