In this podcast, we will explain why Lao Tzu believed we could know the mysterious Tao through our own life, even though many assume the "Tao is beyond human comprehension." Lao Tzu actually disagrees with this commonly parroted phrase. This is the twenty-first episode of the 81 Meditations of the Tao Te Ching, a series where we explore each chapter of the Tao Te Ching. We will dissect chapter twenty-one of the Tao Te Ching to give you ultimate clarity on the meaning of this chapter.

i literally walk around in constant flow state but feel so alien, as everyone is mocking me, i am a 'weirdo' in my local town. as i am very detached from thoughts and emotion and passing feelings. so much so from even conjuring up words to start a frivolous convo in the street. anyone else had enough and just want to be in a place that cultivates dao practice, i really am seeing god and feel like i'm constantly in brahman - now is time to get together and living with others on this similar level. I dont speak alot and am usually just staring into the abyss every time i get time off - it is bliss and that bliss guides us... in the most breathtaking way.. pure amazement..

I too experience many of the things you describe. I myself find it difficult to connect to others due to many times wanting to be in silence with no conversations. I agree that now is time to come together.

I would like to say that wu wei is the ability to flow with the stream without forcing it. If your entire city thinks you are a weirdo or you can't talk about frivolous things because they "don't matter" you're not flowing with the stream. Just go with it. Play the game. Even though you know it's a game, it can still be fun. 🎉

Great discussion as always, resonates so well. With all of the new cutting edge tech, advances in medicine, social engineering and supposedly evolved culture are we any better off? No, we are not, the materialists have failed, and failed miserably. We are plagued by mental health crises, consumerism is at toxic levels, oligarchies are running the Western world and with all of this technology we have never been more disconnected. The Tao is the way back, the way to recover what has been lost. It starts with us one at a time, I for one am already on board, thanks again for the message brother.

For me this was a great teaching and a bit of a reflection. I have known for years, or felt for years that there is a great difference between the natural, and the un-natural world created by artifical politics, religions and technologies. Kind of a re-enforcing realization. Thank you both for your efforts and teaching.

This was a very good talk and enlightening. I have been slowly learning about a Ayurveda yoga and TM over the last 10 years and was struggling to understand the Chinese type philosophy. You have made it abundantly clear that they are very similar. They refer to the same concepts but with different names, thank you for this. Not dogmatic. Brilliant.

Your description of the development of "zero" in India was new to me and fascinating. You are right that we Westerners are thirsty for Eastern knowledge. The customary way we were educated/socialized here just never felt right and (thankfully) I saw through it early on. That constant striving for progress is so unhealthy. Very grateful to you for your work! As above~so below.

I "found" the Tao in 2009. And when I say that, I don't say it lightly. Like I really really did haha. At that time, I had zero knowledge on Tao, only experience (which is essentially the only way to know the Tao) I discovered it by means of relentless practice of unconditional acceptance of what is. A complete surrender to the present moment, at all times. Over a few weeks, attaching to nothing, percieveing the present moment through the I am awareness, a new dimension (so to speak) emerged. I was in the timeless. Life became effortless. It was through this unconditional acceptance of what is, (at all times) that life began flowing for me. The thought of law of attraction became silly, I didn't need to think about anything to attract because I was already whole: everything fell into place in perfect divine time. Very little action on my end was necessary, only what the present moment required of me: which was usually acceptence, not action. It was very magical. I fell out of of that flow when something drastic happened in my life. I was young. I spent years in identification with thought, bound to time. ...and I still am. But I'm taking the necessary steps to merge with the flow again... but doing it a bit different this time; whereas last time, I was relentless in my practice, this time, I'm chipping away at it. Finding that balance between being a normal human and also one that resides in the Tao. I love your channel. Thank you, you two 🙏

Another good on Jason. I may be along way from completely understanding the Tao, but it has brought me peace , and that in itself is proof enough for me anyway. It's strange how these masters like Lao Tzu emerge in the world during the most discordant of times. Anyway, thanks to you and MeYoung for another deep dive. Cheers Brother.

Hi Jason and Guayang :) Thank you for taking your time again. The hosts and perhaps majority of audience are rather not in favor of modern technology. On the other hand, we do participate in it. As tao encompasses all, then the the artificial world of technology must be included? Maybe that is a good topic for your next show. Take care. Shanti.

Hi, Jason! I am new to the Tao and am blown away by it. Interestingly, it seems to be the same message as what Christ taught about “the way” being the life which uses the path of least resistance in one’s encounter with other people, uniting himself with each person and essentially gaining the whole earth. Christ shows us to what extent when he dies on the cross and becomes united with his assailants. Can you do an episode comparing the Tao’s message of “the way” with Christ’s message of “the way?” Thank you so much!

As some audience members may have spiritual roots in Abrahamic religions , it may be very beneficial to touch on the parallels and the underlying truths shared between East & West. The life of Sai Baba of Shirdi and the works of Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri come to mind. I definitely second your suggestion, Paul.

When I said all religions seem to be speaking about the same thing, my taoist master agreed and told 90% of the message of all religions is the same. We can safely assume that sameness is the Tao. 🙏🏼

Also important to mention that Christianity in the west is very different from Christianity in the east. There is also a strong theory that Jesus spent his years between ages 13-30 in and around India to be trained in Buddhism.

We should not follow the Tao, we should explore it to discover who we are in essence. The Tao is the "GPS" to consciousness in order to surrender and communicate to and with it. ( to consciousness ) I think we should not make a religion of the Tao with rules and concepts to be followed. The Tao teaches and inspires us to think deeper, not what to think.

Its NOT TRUST that is needed, It is faith. Today the meaning of faith is unrecognized and often associated with trust. Trust consists of thought, faith is without thought. Not to say that faith is a blind following as that still requires thought or a lack of, which is thought based. You often have faith when you breath as it comes naturally without thought and without worry. The animals have faith when they go and eat without thought and without worry. Humans lack faith when they worry about food and water, they think they must provide it. They come to this conclusion effortlessly through thoughts of separation and by doing so they put faith in them self in an unconscious attempt to make the separation as the highest form of being. This is why misplaced faith results in suffering, it upholds separation. Faith is not an exercise or method of thought, faith is a way of being without thought. Faith is not an attempt at life, it's an observation of the unfolding of life
