Because there's only one dub for Mario games 99% of the time. Characters speaking English in Japan is seen as cool and fun and if there's anything that absolutely requires Japanese, then they'll be in subtitles. It's been like that since Super Mario 64.

Random items are based off of the current state of the gamecube. You see, computers dont actually generate random numbers: they are actually pseudo random. So all of the inputs and possibly date and time are inputs for rng. Hope that this helps

well with a teching you can do mini turbos pretty quickly on straight paths but it won't be as smooth as tas. this tas shaves off about 7 minutes of in game time from the normal wr (although wr is done in 150 not mirror so thats probably part of it)

You just have to drift and if you see the red shell behind you you have to make a short drift brake (0,5 seconds) and drift again in the same direction. The blue shell is harde because it's faster.

Simon .R.K I don't even play the game anymore but that does explain the 3 times I somehow dodged a red shell the easiest way to dodge either I found is to use a mushroom right as they are about to make contact

A miniboost helps you too. But if you use a Mushroom to escape from the sand swirl you will fail. If you drift just drift you survive.

That's the part of the track that you jump over. There's a trigger for the fall from missing the jump that you can reach from below by ramping off the wall. Since that jump is further ahead in the lap, dying and respawning at the beginning of the jump is a huge shortcut.

In most cases the Japanese version is the fastest to use for speedrunning purposes, such as on Ocarina of Time since the Japanese text scrolls much faster than other versions. On this game I'm actually not sure of the reason though.
