I had the SAME seladonia experience. After 25 years, I know a dead tarantula - or so I thought. I actually tossed mine in the bin. A few days later, I was packing up the rubbish and noticed movement. That was almost a very expensive bag of trash 🚮

This video has been extremely helpful as I've had to do a whole crash course in Tapis. I got one as a freebie (as a beginner) without researching it first. Oops. However, to my surprise, it was the easiest one to rehouse. It teleported alright but into its enclosure. I just rehoused it and housed a new one, and they were a breeze. Putting this video, other videos on bolty tarantulas, and my own observations together, I figured out their goal is to get to the safest space possible as quickly as possible. So I make that my goal too. It's been working! So thank you so much for this video. I think they're really cool Ts. Like even though half of the time they're base of the cork bark pet holes, I love it when I get to feed them or catch them out and about at night. Oh! That was also a cool surprise: they burrow at the base of and under the cork bark. I've got both set up as arboreals, but they had other other ideas. Thankfully, with the first one I did do a deeper than normal for an arboreal substrate layer. Thats exactly how i set up the newest one as well. It works!

I got a T. rasti sling last week. It bolted on me whilst I was housing it and I lost it into the structure of my desk. I took it apart looking for it, but no joy. I was so upset! But the next day it appeared on my ceiling! The fugitive is now safely secured lol!

Recently Tom Moran had an experience with an E. murinus "dying" and then suddenly returning back to normal about a week later. He talked about it on his podcast and it's still a mystery as to what happened. Just comes to show you never know with tarantulas and to not give up too soon, sometimes you might be surprised! Good luck with your Ts!

I’ll have to listen to that one. You never know with these babies. It’s a rough ride across country and sometimes they just need a minute to get it together when they arrive. 😂🕷️

I’ve been on the fence for a couple years with this genus. I have 15 pokies and 10 Avicularia but at some point I will be getting some tapis. I’m glad to hear the other seladonia is doing well.

Totally understandable why you chose to withhold that detail in your last video. I think that was super respectful of you given how sometimes people can jump to conclusions before they have all the details. Thanks for another awesome video. Love your content.

Same thing happened to me received a B.albiceps that I thought was dead. Went ahead and put it in a different vial, finished rehousing the rest of my new T’s went back to take pictures to send to the shop and was going to dump it out and well it almost bolted on me. So yes don’t get rid of anything until your absolutely sure it’s dead

Tapinauchenius!! I love them! The colors, their feeding response! Oh man! I like to think that they prefer the base of trees based on how they burrow and make web curtains.. what do you think?

Brilliant video Alex there a gorgeous species the tappi's are May I ask what substrate mix have you got and what mix do you use in most of your enclosure's including your moisture dependent species thanks mate. 👍
@TarantulaHaven

Thank you. I use my own substrate mixture 40% topsoil, 40% sphagnum peat, and 20% vermiculite. I may vary the percentage depending on the needs of the tarantula.

Im a newer trantulas keeper I have a fireleg and Hamorii they are over a year and a half. I fed them 2 times a week as slings and went to 1 a week feedings and there abdomen is huge. I only have super worms. Could you recommend on how to put them on a diet.
@TarantulaHaven
@TarantulaHaven Жыл бұрын
You control the food. If your tarantula looks like it’s about to pop. Hold off on the meal and just make sure they have plenty of water. There are times when I’ll go 2 weeks between feedings if they are plump. They will usually stop feeding on their own and will pick back up after a molt. Be careful with over feeding if they are nice and round. Overfeeding could lead to impaction sometimes.
