That's awesome you picked up a N. sp. Panama! I love my little lady..she is such a cool tarantula. I still haven't taken part in the mystery spiders though I have regretted not getting one everytime.. lol.
@TarantulaHaven5 жыл бұрын
I really regretted not getting one when they did the Aphonopelma mooreae. I didn't so much the one prior to this. I pretty much knew the Theraphosa one and figured it was the blondi but I don't feel like I'm ready for one. I don't have the space for when it grows large and I'm not sure I'm ready for the amount of care.

Dude I got BJ'S magnificent mystery too because I've been looking for smithi for a long time. So I went back & bought 5 B smithi! Now I have SIX!!! So excited about the possibilities with them. Would like to try to contribute them to the hobby. Really cool unboxing video. BTW I take the labels off the old container & put them on the new container itself. If you put it on the lid it could get switched up during feeding or watering. I know because it happened to me. Great video. Thanks for sharing!

@TarantulaHaven5 жыл бұрын
James Blinn thank you sir. In my humble opinion I find tarantulas much more enjoyable. All my scorpions are very finicky eaters and mostly eat in secrecy rather than eat when I feed them. Most of my tarantulas will eat on cue unless they’re in pre or post molt.

Cool little buggers! I Like to buy my T's from Arachnoiden .com and usually make sure they're females when I buy them. I did take a chance buying 4 P. Metallica Slings and got lucky with 3 out of 4 being females!

Dont look at it as a gamble because gambles you will probably lose, in this case you are guaranteed to win even if already have it's a second or you can trade it for another one

You're right about that but I did have a friend that bought one on the last one and got a P. irminia. She already had one and she spent $50 for a $30 tarantula. Of course she did get the enclosure with it so I guess it all worked out.

This was such a fun video! I want to get my first tarantula here soon! I’m wanting a Brachypelma Albiceps and a GBB!!
@TarantulaHaven5 жыл бұрын
Both are great. I personally don't have a B. albiceps yet. GBB are awesome and great starters. Beautiful colors, easy to care for, and a feisty disposition.
@NatCr3w5 жыл бұрын
I got a GBB sling as my first spider and it's been amazing. It's been a great experience. She's(hopefully is a she fingers crossed) been a little feisty a couple times where she kicked hairs at my tongs when I have been doing some work around her enclosure but no threat postures and has settled right in calming significantly in the process. Their hardiness cannot be understated. Mine lost a leg in shipping and was still hitting roaches like a freight train. She molted for the first time under my care yesterday and she has completely regrown her leg. I got mine with an enclosure and feeders from Tanya at Fear Not Tarantulas for $104 shipped. However, slings may not be the best starting point as I have learned through experience. 03Arachnids had some juveniles at $100 unsexed and $200 for a female. They command a high price since their apparently a hassle to breed as females are very cannibalistic. It's hard to say but if I could go back I would have definitely picked up something at full size to learn basic husbandry on a much more established spider. There's also the coin flip of getting a sling cheaper in the hopes you get that 350 dollar female for 50 bucks and some time with a tiny spider. But good luck and hopefully your sailing is as smooth as mine.
@Indieegames5 жыл бұрын
Cody that’s awesome! I’m pretty sure a sling is going to be the way for me! I want that satisfaction of raising a t from a sling plus my husband is terrified of spiders so at least this way he can get use to the tarantula’s size as it grows 😂

I hate it when people spoil the mystery (whether it is boxes like this, tv shows, movies, etc). BJ’s poem was pretty obvious for experienced keepers, so that kinda spoiled that fun but I’d avoid all tarantula related social media until the sellers announce the species. Lol

I really like your vids. Congratz on your new spooders. Would you consider doing a husbandry vid and show us bBachypelma Klaasi ? Do you own them, what temperament do they have, etc. Thx!
@TarantulaHaven5 жыл бұрын
Beth Gentry unfortunately I don’t have that species. I would like to own one one day because the Brachypelmas are some of my favorite tarantulas. I would imagine they are pretty close to most of your other Brachypelmas like boehmei and emilia. Their temperament is considered docile but they can be skittish and flick hairs. I still have to do one on the B. hamorii and my B. emilia.

Alex, you’re an awesome guy, love watching your videos, you have a very calm and soothing voice, about how many tarantulas do you have now and where are they in your home, currently I only have two in my living room, both are slings, a Brazilian Black and a Green Bottle Blue. Hope to get a few more in spring, when it’s safer for shipping to me in Chicago. Can’t wait to see future videos, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I just bought 3 of your tarantulas off Etsy, they are so beautiful, can’t wait to get them, I’m going to hang them on my living room window.

I don't know about getting an OBT without planning on getting an OBT. How big do they have to get before you should be concerned about the venom?
@TarantulaHaven5 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Golish even a 1 inch sling can deliver venom and it would still be painful but I would think more to the 3 inch size is when you would really have to worry. They’re not as bad as everyone makes them out to be.
