Apollo is our 11-year-old, pure-bred Friesian he is a good horse for a beginner rider. He has a lovely collected canter and is a great farter. He is herd leader over Farouk who is a pure-bred Arabian horse, Farouk is 9 years old and loves galloping and is a good endurance horse. He is the Grandson of the famous Marwan Al Shaqab and then there is Princess Bella a Four-Year Old pure-bred Andalusian filly her speciality is bucking and jumping for joy.

Every horse is different, both physically and mentally. I remember when you had to take Farouk home......he was just mind blown on that day. But, as you say, he was fine there after. Slow and steady, exposure to everything, patience and time, all perfect learning tools. Enjoying this ride, I think it will be a good one for Bella too.

Tara, I completely agree with you about Bella's training. They are all individuals and progress and learn at different rates. I've always trained my dogs this way. Thank you for a wonderfully muddy ride on the gorgeous Farouke ❤️🧡

Hi Tara and Rens, Belated Happy New Year! Iagree with you about training. All my dogs have been labs a very willing and trainable breed. I just had to repeat and repeat a command etc and all at once they " get it" and then it is smooth sailing. My dogs have always wanted to please me- after all I am the source of food and walkies!!! My last dog was very intelligent and remembered things for ages even if she hadn't done it for awhile. I still miss her even tho the "new dog" is a sweetie. All the best in 2024.

You know your horses best. I don’t ALWAYS want to go rambling every day, and I feel I’ve been lazy. The thought that someone would try to force me to walk would make me very grumbly and unhappy. BUT, when I DO walk, I give it my all. I am not a Robot. ❤❤

well said Tara - you can't desensitise to simply everything. A lot does depend on the horse's personality though. I had a young horse I could ride anywhere and he pretty much never shied. He was only 4 when I got him but he'd alrady been exposed to a lot of things. The previous owner was a teenage boy with no nerves and I seriously think that helped. If they have a confident rider on board it gives them confidence to tackle scary things. Previous to that I had another horse the same age and he spooked at anything and everything no matter how many times he'd gone past it which in turn made me nervous so I was contributing to the problem. I should have know he'd be like that though because the day I trialled him he was spooking at things. I sold him after 5 years because I wasn't enjoying going out on him so consequently bought the one that didn't shy and even though I was initially wary I ended up being relaxed with him because he actually gave me confidence as young as he was. They're all different.

I dontknowmuch about horses but i understand when i see good and bad results. All horses Are different. Each has their ovn personality. I would think the important thing is to know them how they tick and work with them accordingly. I think you know each horse quite well and the way they Are with you shows That. Your relationship with Your horses Are great. They respect you but care about you and obey. So i dont know how you could do any better tara.

Your turn on the forehand l used to cheat by putting my toe on the shoulder and just give a little nudge,or tickle and it worked and got good marks in a dressage test ,,,my trainer asked how I'd managed it as we had been having trouble ,,,when l told her what l did l said l know its not correct but l tried and it worked so l carried on,,she was a typical TB mare ,,stubborn and sometimes un cooperative,,,eventually the mare got the movement correct with correct aids,,,she wasnt the easiest ride but we muddled along,,😂😂😂
