Looks beautiful. I dont have money for new furniture. My mom passed away in May 2021 and all her furniture is here in what was our apartment. Two pieces are solid wood and I want to go beachy theme. This is what I want and this is what I will get. Thanks for the great video. Can't wait to see my project done.

Hey, sorry about your Mum. 💖 And I know what minimum cash is like! 😳 But, this was not whitewashing. She did fantastic don't get me wrong, but she applied paint to the SURFACE, whitewashing floods the paint INSIDE the wood not on top of it. And the best thing, whitewashing is mega cheap to do! Half a can of paint could whitewash an entire houseful of furniture. I found a quick tutorial and this lady nails it! Perfect demo! She uses a grey stain as her first step but only because she wanted a grey undertone. *That's a totally optional step!* That was her personal preference and not essential. If you wanted a bluey green undertone, just water down kids paint or gel food colouring! (Told you it was cheap! 😜) Here you go! Hope it gives you hope of affording the transformation you're after and brings many more years of use, enjoyment and memories from your Mum's furniture. ......... Couple of extra points: The only extra expense is a clear wax *IF* you want to seal it after, but again it's not necessary. The idea of true whitewashing is to be able to feel and see the actual wood, not the coating. So it looks truly weathered. Like driftwood! Perfect for your beachy vibe! 😊 The only downside I guess is LOTS of prep! You have to sand until your reach the original wood. If you find your inner raw wood to be a little dark as a base, coat it with watered down bleach a few times to get your perfect weathered, coastal shade, and then add a watery coloured undertone if you wish. You could even just skip that step and add the colour to the watery paint! Why let white have all the fun? I'm sure bluewashing or tealwashing would be equally gorgeous! So possible extra expense is a ton of sandpaper and elbow grease! 😳 Or a cheap mouse sander if that alarms you! 😂😂😂 Enjoy the video xxxxxx kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3SuaoV6hLuXo8k

Oooh another thought...have you see pallet walls? Using free pallet wood strips and glueing or nailing them to an entire wall? If not Google them! Gorgeous! Was just picturing a wall like that, paint washed to match a dining table! How gorgeous would that look in a beachy home! Wrap cheap vases with burlap or jute string or nautical rope and fill with Dollar Tree fake flowers. There's tons of coastal Dollar Tree videos on here! My home's coastal too, so trust me I know! 😜 I'm in England though, so we have Poundland instead of Dollar Tree. Go to charity shops for extra pieces or things that can be altered. Home decor pieces can be made very cheaply. Plain glass jars with paint swirled around inside, and wrapped with lots of jute twine round the neck and hung up, look like glass fisherman's floats! Making fishing rope is very easy with jute twine and looks great holding jars for tea light candles or vases of trailing faux vines. I'm getting excited for you lol! 😘😘😘

Hi! First time watching any of your videos and I enjoyed it. I'm not an expert but I've learned some basic things along the years. 1. Use a drop cloth under your item. No paint spots on garage floor make hubby's happy. 2. Pour the paint you think you are going to use in a separate container. It protects the paint and you won't have a hard time opening the can next time. 3. Lift the legs up on pieces of wood or whatever you have around. 4. To avoid getting the paint where you don't want it (like the side part) use an old piece of fabric, plastic, etc. I put painters tape on the edge of whatever I'm using and cover the area. BTW, some people put a nail in the bottom of the legs to elevate. After all that said, you did a good job. I loved how the Rustolium Chalk paint went on so evenly. And, I've never used wax before and it doesn't look so difficult. Thanks.

I do this in our garage and the one thing hubby comments on are the couple drops which may have inadvertently spilled/dripped on to the garage floor. I’m like, seriously? It’s a GARAGE floor who cares? So you hit the nail on the head with that one!! 😂

Love Love Love how the table turned out! And the layout of the whole video was put together nicely as an excellent tutorial. The way you showed all the products you were going to use, close up shots so we could see the labels, makes it easy for us to shop the same products. And all the graphics you have added makes it visually easy to watch and learn. I have a couple things I have procrastinated in because I wasn't sure if a process or color, now I know! Thank you!😊

It did come out beautiful but I believe I would have left the top as is and just coated it with a clear wax. The wood grain was so pretty and it is lost in the white wash.

I searched for white washing furniture and your's came up first and wow do I love it! So two years later, do you still love it? Here's a tip.. Buy Walmart Grab n Go paint..(flat), add 2 tablespoons of plaster paris mixed with water to 2 cups paint.. Chalky paint diy.. It goes on easy. Use wax or varethane finish...I'll be doing just that on my Broyhill Fontana tables I've had forever. The white wash with sunwashed can also be done with grey paint .. just wash it and use your brush to make the grain like finish! The Reclaimed Heirloom is a master with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint if you're interested in learning more.. You did an amazing job! Blessings~

I’m just here cause I’m a husband whose wife wants him to distress an old dinning table so this was informative…… BUT can I give you some tips? From a professional carpenter I’ll say this, spend the money on an orbital sander. You can get one for 60 bucks at harbor freight. Dont wash off the wood, you’ll just get the wood damp and it’ll be a little harder to sand. Start with 80 grit rough it up, finish out with a quick pass of 220 and it’ll be the prettiest thing you’ve ever seen. But the rest was very informative and helped me satisfy my wife! So thank you!

I rescued a table similar to the style of your coffee table, it was a console. It has two openings on the top that had acrylic inserts, but my plan is to replace them with wood and stain it the same color as the top. I ordered all of the items you used for your project. Thank you for the step-by-step instructions! You did a beautiful job giving that piece of furniture a new life!👍

Good video for beginners like me! I’m only experimenting making chalk paint. Dont know anything about stains and other types of products! I like to see total progress including mistakes. Even though perfect work and videos look great if someone just does the over talking on the videos you dont get to hear or see the oops I shouldn’t have done that. One bit of advice is a drop cloth. If you dont have any first use large black plastic garden bags cut open then and old sheet. Sheet absorbs and plastic protects floor. Will be looking at more videos! Thanks!
