One thing I discovered was that all sounds must be WAV files formatted to 256 bitrate and the name can only be 6 characters letters or numbers only. Audacity can change bit rate of an existing WAV file by setting HZ to 16k before you export. The Taranis should play it. Hope this helps anyone who is as lost as I was.

if you are running OpenTx 2.2 or later the Tada file you are looking for is no longer called tada or Tada_openTx The file you are looking for is called hello.wav

One suggestion: instead of deleting a sound that you want to replace, you could just rename it. For example, instead of deleting the old "tada.wav" file, you could change it to "tada_old.wav", that way you still have the old file in case you want to use it later on.

Great tutorial. Thanks for the video. Just have a question. I have the qx7 and everytime on start up it is announcing the sound set on the switches aside from the start up welcome sound. How do you disable it from announcing the switches?

OK, I must have missed a step. I downloaded the package, deleted the old Sounds folder from the SD card, and moved a copy of AMber SOunds folder to the card. WHen I went to my Special Functions to select some new sounds, the pull-down list in Companion still points to the old Sounds. How do I activate the new Sounds Folder?

Never mind. I put a copy of the Sounds folder in my PC SD card folder and all is well. Somehow I thought when you read from the radio all the settings were uploaded.

how come when I try to delete the "sounds" folder from the Taranis (removeable drive) it gives me "deleting (not responding) error. Then it ends up freezing my Taranis. Even if I shut it off, the LCD stays on. I have to unplug battery before I can restart all over again

Not sure. You could try removing the memory card and putting that in your computer and deleting it that way.

It doesn't work with 2.2.3? There was no "tada" only "tada_opentx, so I changed that, but it still had the original sound, even though I removed the original from the folder. I tried adding a file called "tada", but it still plays the original file, if I test play the files in the folder, they play amber, what the hell is happening lol?

For some reason the start up sound won't play. I can get it to work on my 9xr but not the Taranis. I have the newest firmware, bootloader and Amber sound pack. I have the same tada file in each folder and I can play the track from the radio so I'm kinda lost lol. Is there a setting in the radio that turns the startup sound off?
