I’m a recovering Arachnophobe, over a year into my recovery, and I’ve come so far thanks in no small part to channels like this. Previously I wouldn’t have been able to look at a still from the video, so severe was my phobia. Now I watch them with pleasure, and understand that the behaviours displayed by the spiders are defensive and that the spiders aren’t actively trying to harm me. Huge thanks to anyone who hosts channels like this, you’ll never know the difference you’ve made to me 🕷💖

You are such a boss!! I literally have so much respect for you. I am terrified, to the point that it's a full on phobia, of cockroaches (palmetto bugs), grasshoppers and crickets (because they look like those big cockroaches). Even typing this up is making me start to be on edge. If I see one, I go into a full on panic and once, one crawled on me and I had a panic attack to the point that I clawed my skin until it bled. Afterwards, I was so embarrassed to admit that it happened because I am a 40 year old female but it's uncontrollable. I wish that I could be like you and watch videos of them to slowly start to get over this fear. I know that the only way to get over a phobia is to confront it but, I just don't think I can do it, honestly. However, I am so proud of you for taking the steps to get over your arachnophobia.

I just want to point out on the topic of the spider being angry. Imagine someone stuffed you into a box, drove you all over bumping and jolting, then removed you from the box, placed you under a light and prodded your behind. You would be pretty angry too. I had a Tarantula so I have some experience with spiders but I'm by no means an expert. I would have placed the spider in its new enclosure in a dark room and allowed it to acclimate before trying to interact directly with it. Nice looking spider though, I wonder if Traps are as fast as tarantulas. Mine was a Mexican Terrestrial and she could dart across the 2 foot enclosure in a split second and sink her fangs into prey. The first time I seen it I couldn't believe my eyes.

The spider is already stressed slightly from being shipped you want to look at them when you first get them to make sure they arrived healthy yes it's alittle stressful but it will get over it quickly once its in the enclosure. once you inspect the spider yes you should put it away and leave it alone for a wile i usually give new spides atleast a week before even touching the enclosure sometimes longer.

Ants running from you? wanna see you step anywhere near fire ants... they'll eat you alive. Also this other time driving through Mexico I stopped at a semi desertic spot on the road to take a pee and I was fascinated to see some ants starting to move toward me so I moved a couple of steps in the opposite direction and they actually stopped and changed direction to follow me where I was now standing. I have no idea what species they were but they were almost as big as leaf cutter ants... I'm not an ant person I prefer Tarantulas but I find all invertebrates captivating.

As a FedEx employee who works in the shipping warehouse, it’s in shippers best interest to not ship anything at all in those packages, those boxes are beaten hard, they need to use ones that mark that there’s a live animal in them so they ensure they don’t go through the belt system, normal boxes get smacked off the belt down a 20 foot chute by a air powered arm at 250 PSI, enough to snap a leg like a twig
@tarantulakat2 жыл бұрын
I think it said live animal but I removed a bunch of labels and stickers for privacy purposes. However, I’ve heard many horror stories of employees purposely being rough with the other ones vendors use that way live animal. Regardless, a good shipper will get the spider there alive no matter how badly it’s manhandled. That’s why they are packaged the way they are.

Can you tell at the end that the spider hid under the leaves as to feel that he/she is hidden that as long it can't see you so it feels you can't see it so now it feels protected. It just a cautious little guy right now. Trap door spiders are an interesting specie of spider cause it hunts differently vs the other spiders. It will way until it's prey is just above them. Either there is small fiber of web just outside that alerts the spider of prey near by or the prey is causing a vibration that the spider can feel in which also alerts them of food is present. Cool video. Thank you.
