@EmperorKleetorisTheCuckolder I like Rose hairs personally, the way they just slowly plod around is fun to watch. the one my friend owned had a remarkably calm temperament with the way it tolerated handling, didn't seem to be bothered at all. It kind of made me want to get into inverts soon (I currently keep reptiles so I doubt it would be much more difficult)

Not that exciting actually. Purse spiders make a web sac in which they spend their entire lives. It hasn't even an entrance. Basically they live in it and feed by stabbing and dragging their prey thru the wall of the web sac. Its why they have such long fangs, to reach thru the web wall and into the prey. Once they settle in their web sack you'll never see them again, so it's hard to check their welfare or how they are faring. Not a rewarding species in captivity.

They are all really interesting but the jumpers are the cutest and have the most reactive, alert personalities in my opinion. Having all these diverse creatures to watch and care for will be such an adventure. The gift wrapping of the spiders and the goth Santa hat were fine and suitable seasonal touches.

For reference, the Sydney Funnel Web spider competes with the Brazilian Wandering spider for the title of most dangerous/deadly spider.

Most deadly, still not very deadly if you have access to medical treatment. I believe there hasn't been a death by the sidney funnel web spider since 50 years or something along that line. Definitely nothing to play with though.

luckily they stick around the greater sydney area and not so much out in the middle of nowhere so medical treatment is usually fairly close. australia hasn't had a death from a spider bite since antivenom was a thing yeh spiders do cause car accidents sometimes though

There's also other funnelweb species like Hadronyche formidabilis and H. cerberea that contest the title. Both of these have severe envenomation rates of well above 50%, which is far greater than that of the Sydney funnelweb (at less than 20%). Most spiders believe it or not totally do not want to bite you. I have seen a guy on you tube with a Goliath bird feeder he was probing poking gently of course, he was trying to pick him up. He crawled with his HUGE BUTT all over his back arms chest face and head. From what I can gather they actually just try to avoid you altogether much less to bite you. The way they would bite is if you applied any pressure to them or basically try to harm them in any way.

@@SherioCheers Bummer :( my "sun spider" died a week after getting him. He didn't look too well in his shipping container as soon as I got him, so I expected him to die honestly. My camel spider is still alive, but she wont eat. All she does is kill the prey I put into her burrow because it's in her way, and then just leaves it. I don't plan on her living for another month.
