I actually agree with all what you've stated. I recorded myself singing a power song. When I almost get tired using my chest voice, I tried to mix it, I thought it will sound like just a falsetto but when I listened to my recording, it was actually sound really good. Its like a flawless balted note. Thanks Tara. very useful tips😊

2:31 OMGGG THATS SO MUCH LIKE ME! I used to be SO confused with all my registers, I used to think that when I sing in mixed that I was singing in head, so when I start singing in head I'm like, "so, if I usually sing in head what's this higher register? And I used to also wonder "where is my mix?" Until I started watching more sing better in seconds, reaction videos, tutorials, and I just figured that my natural singing voice was mix, and the higher register is head! (I'm still not a hundred percent sure, but that's what makes most sense!)

I started singing 23 years ago and nobody explained to me the mix. Only ten years ago a good teacher explained it and I started practising a bit, but it was quite week. In the last few years I found all these useful tutorials on KZbin and I went back to singing with much more confidence. I would say that smoothing the passaggio and having a good mix are the keys of a good technique. Now singing higher is not so fearful anymore. So I adore the mix.

Hey I just wanna say how much u saved my singing omgg, ironically u help me in this video in ways it's not connected to mix voice. For years I've always use the muscles on my neck to reach higher notes idk how else, but eversince u mentioned getting support from the muscles from all over your body, I haven't use a lot of from the neck. Thank you so much luv ❤️

Mix is light and you need to have coordination built up and it's over time that you get it. It lets me go from chest to head very fast and then from head to falsetto. It's amazing when you develop it. Tension is the enemy to a mixed voice. I did it with Phoo and Muh. That helped me so much. Then I found I was blending with head voice buy doing it accidently one day. It just takes work.

The Almighty mix! I really need to work on strengthening it for sure! 💪🏽 Some great tips here thank you guys! That’s so true that when I hear myself singing in mix I think it’s completely wrong but sometimes when I hear myself recorded on my phone, it’s okay! it’s a much more accurate representation than just hearing myself sing in my own head! The mix is a funny thing, sometimes it feels wrong, it takes some getting used to! 🙋🏽 Xx

I agree with opening one’s mouth horizontally to be able to reach mix intense of just opening vertically...a couple of years ago when I was in college my vocal teacher hated when singers who opened their mouth horizontally instead of vertically...for me personally that closes my throat and like what Tara said it cuts my capabilities to go any higher...all those years I thought I was just a bass but turns out that I’m more of a bass baritone once I learned how to sing mix (however I kinda lost my low notes now that I can sing higher unless I just woke up or I’m sick)

Sometimes, in my head, I think of it as singing mostly, backwards. I also think of the sound as skipping chambers, opening the chest, into the head, right behind the nasal cavity. It almost starts to fill like blowing up a baloon right behind the nasal cavity, but with flow from the chest.

Hi Tara & coach Nikki! Love your videos ❤ I'd love to be one of your students one day! Or at least be in an episode of Sing better in seconds! I really feel you can help people find their own voices and styles and I love how you try to explain the sensations you have while singing to make it easier for us to understand a concept. As for this video, I can definitely hear when I go from chest to mix, but the transition from my mix to my head voice is not that clear to me. I wonder why. And also, my mix sounds different from time to time, as if it is resonating in different places. Sometimes it has quite a bright and generally full sound, sometimes it seems that the sound comes from the back of my throat and it's kind of weak. It'd be great to get some help/advice on that. Thanks for the video, though! I'll definitely keep on working on my mix! 💪
