How many hours have you used it? I've had one for years, and would spend 8 to 10 hours a day standing... which can fatigue you quite a bit. The stool looks interesting.
@TarkeCat
@TarkeCat 2 жыл бұрын
@@lowbrow99 about 10ish hours a day for just under two weeks.

Do you play any more demanding games, I'm thinking stuff like FPS or fighting games that are more input-sensitive? I'm curious if the active posture is helpful or hindering for that.

My personal biggest takeaway from a standing desk is that I don't actually care very much about the standing part, but being able to precisely adjust the desk to the perfect height at any given time is a game changer. Raising it to get under it and work on cables and stuff is also nice.

Yeah and £600 for the Q8 is not bad was going to pay £300 + for a new chair but the old chair is still good enough.

It's a Less multiplier for back pain. You just need a couple of sources of Decreased now to scale it.

Thanks as always! I'll have to get one soon, too! PS. 83kg is not that bad for how tall you are. Last year I peaked at 84.

Yeah 83 is fine for my height but it is a little on the upper end for me I always feel my best when I'm in the 78-82kg range.

I've had this video in my back pocket as I was planning on buying a new desk as I move to a new place - just bought a FlexiSpot standing desk and mentioned you as the inspiration. Excited for sure and can't wait for next league!

Wasn't expecting this here, but happily surprised. Sadly cannot afford one right now, but it is something I have been interested in for a while. Bookmarked this video and perhaps one day in the future I'll peruse their catalogue.

Great thanks plenty of useful info, going to buy the Q8 in a few days. Spend way too much time sitting 8+ hours gaming then back/ neck pain stops me for about a week to recover. Stopped gaming completely for months at a time because of my back, I'm getting old.

I have been using 1 desk for maybe 20+ years now, so i have been looking into standing desks for some time, but i never even heard of wobble stools. I wonder how long will that wobble stool last. The contact with the ground looks like it would wear off quickly for an endurance sitter like me, also no rug.

I got frames for the desk for my wife and I, and fitted 2100x900 tops. Plenty big for 3 monitors+rig, or 2 monitors+rig+craft area. Cable management was a pain, we stapled on a cable 'hammock' under the back/rear of the desk, but the caddys are much better (just very expensive). Another thing you can do (which I haven't tried) is you can get under-desk mounts for the PC case, or could knock something up if you're handy.

Just wanna say the wrist/hand pain and where you were pointing to(down the pinky and ring finger side of your arm) is something I suffered from as well, apparently it was cubital tunnel syndrome most likely caused from chair/desk ergonomics. In my case my chair was too low so I was putting extra pressure onto the ulnar nerve, I ended up taking the armrests off my chair and propping my seat height up with a pillow as there was no easier way to go about fixing it

One thing I've missed in this review - how stable the desk is. Would have been nice if you showed how bad (or not) it wobbles sideways.

Might be worth considering getting a thunderbolt hub and 5m cable and have the PC on a side table without taking up table space.

I would love to know how the wobbly boi fairs vs heavier bodies as well, Tarke is relatively fit (he just needs to exchange a couple of pounds of fat and turn them to muscle mass and he's good to go) but I'm a bit on the chubbier side of things, and literally any stool I ever bought just ended up being a literal pain in my ass just because I'm too tall and too thicc. Also the perseverance of that bounciness vs hardwood floor + very prolonged desk work (I work from home) is very questionable to me. The desk is neat though!

I have been using a standing desk for a few years now, when I got it I used the standing feature a lot nowadays I only use it when I have been sitting a lot and start to feel uncomfortable. But as you mentioned just being able to adjust the table to the exact height is really nice. On another unrelated note I recently saw Lighty in the Fated Connections podcast and really enjoyed that would love to see him as a guest on baeclast some time, I don't think he has ever been on.

@boroborable
@boroborable 2 жыл бұрын
very skeptical about the stool, how can you rest your body as you sitting down, while constant support from your legs needed to balance your whole body? as it is now, I need my body to be in 'release' mode so my back and my hips are on support from the chair. but I can say, for active work environment, it seems usable and healthy but maybe not for regular long time usage with pc desks.
@TarkeCat

Once you're used to it, it feels no different to sitting on a standard stool.

Problem with a chair you sit in same position for hours and it really hurts my back, so will get the stool with the Q8 to have more options, will still use a chair though.

I defo wouldn't want to go any smaller but the current size is comfortable and an upside of it been a lil on the smaller end is I cant get lazy and fill the desk with random junk.

Since you mentioned lumbar support - I've never really bought into that narrative. Why would you need anything pressing into your lower spine? You don't have that when standing or walking. Sitting somewhat upright is key, though. If all you do is slouch for years and years, your lower back will eventually give out :(
@Spike-qh2bb
@Spike-qh2bb Жыл бұрын
Never slouched, if you ever had lower back pain you know lumbar support helps a lot. Standing gives massive relief to lower back pain.
