Here's is something very important I want you to know. Our culture (modernized culture, mostly Western culture) trains us to be disconnected from our bodies. Our culture trains us to view our bodies as external objects as an outside observer. Our culture trains to look to outside experts to fix us, fix our body issues but doesn't train us to connect with our own body, own sensory experience, "listen" to our body, feel our body, and learn from our inner intelligence. This is cultural influence on our beliefs influences our behaviors. Many people believe that they need more information in order to overcome their limitations and challenges. Many believe that they just haven't found the "right" information yet so keep seeking outside for their answer. Reality is that we have too much information, and we are so disconnected from our own body and experience. It's easy to view my videos as another exercise video, and approach it from that mindset, that is to approach your body like fixing mechanical parts that lie external to you. Then, you are really missing the point. This is not a conventional way of thinking in Western culture, so it's easy to let my message pass through you. But, don't worry! I am persistent and will repeat over and over and over:) I'm not here to teach you exercises to correct your body structures. I am here to help you connect with YOUR BODY, YOUR SENSORY EXPERIENCE, learn from YOUR BODY, and create a new way of movng, using yourself, being in your body! This paradigm shift is necessary for transformation, changes in your nervous system, movement patterns, quality of life because your body and mind are one! I really encourage you to keep this message in your mind as you watch my videos and practice movement!

As a Feldenkrais practitioner, I don't believe in "fixing" bodies. I believe in one's intelligent nervous system that is capable of learning and adapting. One of misunderstanding about "fixing" forward head posture is that people only look at the head and neck and they try to correct the position. It is important to understand that "head and neck start at hips", meaning that head is connected to the spine (neck, mid and lower back) and pelvis/hips. It is also important to understand that "fixing" forward head posture requires re-training your movement patterns and create a new relationship between head, torso, and pelvis/hips. So "fixing" your posture really means improving your movement. In this video I share 3 movement training/exercises that will help you become aware of those connections and retrain your movement patterns to "fix" forward head posture. Exercise 1 04:28 Exercise 2 07:19 Exercise 3 11:40 If you have any questions or comments, please leave it in the comment below!

I'm sure your videos are great and I wouldn't question their worth for most viewers but I hate them. I hate all the slow explanations (and you are hard to hear and understand for my eyes) and I just want to see the exercises or postures or stretches or whatever. If they were on first all at once that would be great and then continue all the talk for everyone else. Believe me I am an analytical person just want short analytics. Others with demonstration videos are on the same page as you but they don't go on as long.

Do you have any idea how many physios I went to that said my hips had nothing to do with my neck or head? All they work on is the neck and shoulders. Now I know what muscles I actually need to work on. I can feel the difference. Your whole approach is logical, especially when I knew my hips were involved. Sometimes I think physios make you worse on purpose so you keep going back and they make more money. If your videos actually fix my problems I will be happy to pay you something. I'll keep at it for a full month and see how it goes.

Hahaha! PTs make less money than they did 30 years ago despite being doctors. Insurance companies force them to treat joint by joint. Only brave PTs set out their own shingle to be able to treat while body. Every year more money is cut and salaries go down and patient flow goes up. Hope I never see you with any physical issues…looking for in network care.

After practicing MA (including internals like Systema and Taijiquan) for years, I've know these parts to be asleep but couldn't figure out how to wake them up. I know Moshe was originally a martial artist also, no? What incredible intelligent design his system of concious movement is. Thank you for your contribution, Taro.

Amazing! Instantly works... and again, like all the other videos I have watched of yours easy to do, no pain. I had focused on head, neck and shoulders... which did not work as you know. Reminding myself to do just one thing which is to shift the pelvis forward totally created the alignment in the upper body! Lol... how simple! Finally after years of physical therapy, tons of chiropractors and tons of videos trying to find what would work; I found your videos!

Thank you for addressing this…I’m in my 70’s and have always had forward head posture. I’ve practiced hard and soft expression of martial arts for nearly 60 years with the accompanying wear and injuries to my body. I’ve been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis of the spine. My posture in medical terms is unremarkable. The problem is that I am suffering a very inflexible almost locked position of the thoracic spine…if I stand with my back to the wall…I am unable to touch the wall with the back of my head. Worse…if I lie flat on the floor…my head is unable to touch the floor…it is only with great difficulty that it finally touches and then my chin feels it is being forced up and there is a very painful impingement between the shoulder blades. Getting up from that position is difficult and extremely painful as if the vertebrae between my shoulder blades seemed locked…until I can loosen it with movement. This appears to be an habitual pattern that has become a structural deformation. I will begin your exercises today and see if it helps. I have also noticed that the thoracic tightness/kyphosis(?) is making my entire spine seem tight when I am not training. Any thoughts or advice?

thanks for the comment. We so often focus on the problem areas, but the problem areas are often overworking areas. We usually get better results by working away from the problem areas and connecting towards them. Improving connection between hips and lower back may be a good starting point

Thank you…I’ll try using my Tai Chi Chuan with mental intention to extend the spine and energy upwardly from the hip…in addition to your exercises.

New subscriber here. Just binged watched a few of your videos, which focus on posture and neck/shoulder tension. Game changers. Watching your explanations and demos somehow just made everything click for me, versus just me constantly telling myself to sit up straight every time I catch myself slouching/hunching. I think being aware and understanding the mechanics of your body parts and how their movements are connected (as you mentioned the kinetic chain) really helps!! I’m so glad I stumbled upon your channel!! Thank you and look forward to more quality content! Keep up the great work! :)

Do you have any tips for good habits when using a computer so we don't hunch over because we adapt the body to the environment, eg. when working on a laptop?

i've struggled with my back for two years now and have tried a lot of different things (strenghtening, streching, massaging, acupuncture) and nothing has helped on the long term but i felt every single one of these moves and i feel like they might be what i have been looking for!

Thanks for this! I really like the third exercise, it’s one of the best ways I’ve seen to activate my lower traps and practice thoracic extension.

Thank you. plus it is very specific to a common postural type who needs to stabilize lower back and mobilize thoracic extension at the same time.

you mean, lying on stomach and on your elbows and forearms to get more extension through spine? it may help some, but for someone who tends to extend through lower back may not be ideal.

I stumbled upon your videos so I am new to them and want to thank you for making them to help people. I will definitely give the exercises in these videos a try since I have terrible posture with forward head posture and even that ugly hunchback bulge and I believe it contributes with on set migraines sometimes almost daily! I really need to correct these issues so that maybe I can eventually lessens this annoying migraine condition since I also suffer from light sensitivity which unfortunately also contributes to them 😔
