I’m starting to get into tenor for drum line at my school, what’s a good way to practice if I don’t have drums and a lot of money
@TAROLEANDO7 жыл бұрын
Great question man, first of all congratulations on getting started in Drumline, those where some of the best times of my life. If you don’t have a lot of money you can practice on a pillow to build up muscles in your wrist and fingers. Also on a piece of wood to practice some stick control and rebound. Or even on your lap if you don’t mind the bruises at first. Setting up books to mimic tenor drums is also good, get creative but always practice efficiently. Get your hands on a Metronome and work on technique from the beginning. Best of luck to you, where are you from?
@crateorzo82865 жыл бұрын
Another thing to keep track of is to play in the zones and to keep your fingers on your sticks, I struggled with these when I started
@TAROLEANDO5 жыл бұрын
You are right man. My zones were pretty bad here cause I’m not a tenor player. There are a lot of things that go into playing tenors that require a lot of patience and dedication to the little things in order to get better. Happy drumming 🥁✌🏼

I want to try out for tenors next year, is there anything I should know?
@TAROLEANDO7 жыл бұрын
Death Of America 2017 congratulations on trying out and all the best of luck to you. Well there are many things to be learned especially on tenors, but if I had to give you one thing is to always take on the challenge of playing tenors with an open mind and patience. And what that means is anything that you learn take your time with it and work at it a lot, but have patience with yourself and never give up if you don’t get it. Playing drums is fun and you should be having the type of fun that hours and hours of practice seem like seconds to you. Hope that helps, hit me up on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and I can give you more specific things to work on depending on your level. Take care and happy drumming.

@TAROLEANDO6 жыл бұрын
Hey man Congratulations on wanting to join the Drumline. It is never too late to start, it's all about how much work you put in to the instrument. As a sophomore you still have a lot to develop and as a senior you could be at a very high level. With the right guidance and dedication you should be good. Make a list of all your strengths and weaknesses and build from there. An example would be how good is your technique, music reading skills, marching skills, musical timing…and so on. Let me know if you any help with some things, good luck and work hard.
