I like the borders on the Somnia bc it gives the images some "breathing space"--like a photograph when you mount it.

I see how you could look at it that way. To each their own I suppose. I tend to prefer borderless cards as a default anyway and I would just love for these images to be zoomed in a little closer. 😍 But, I’m glad you are enjoying the deck! It’s a haunting one for sure. ❤️

I feel like it lends to the old photograph look which might be what they were going for -but may have worked out better had they made it look more faded/aged?? I hope the creator offers borderless and maybe even a little bigger next time.

In general, I like borderless cards but there are exeptions - Somnia being one of them (The Wildwood Tarot another one). I feel that if Ithese cards lose their borders the dreamy lanscapes become overwhelming nightmares, lol.

The Somnia Tarot was the only deck I ever bought knowing when I ordered it, I was going to trim it. As soon as it arrived, I trimmed it, leaving only the title of the card on the bottom of the deck. Trust me, it's worth it the effort. BEAUTIFUL!

What an excellent video share. Thanks for doing this one. I had not seen that Art Tarot. Definitely going on my list...love it! I wish MPC was easier to browse and shop. (Almost like you have to know the secret knock just to find a particular deck!)

I agree with that about MPC. Not easy to browse their marketplace decks. You have be patient and scroll through A LOT of decks you don't care about in the hopes that something cool will catch your eye. I really dig the Art Tarot. It's really cool in a quirky yet sophisticated way. I love the backgrounds. Feels very epic. Hope you are well and Happy New Year!

I love the white borders on the Somnia Tarot. It's stark and highlights the image. It's like being in a mental hospital and looking into the room and seeing that scene. If the deck was borderless, or even if the border was black, the images would get lost in the background. The images are suppose to be stark and in your face. Having the borders white creates that effect. Plus borderless decks are great for art pieces or for people with lots of decks who aren't using them much, but they're not great for everyday, long term use because the images are damaged as the deck is shuffled.

Ok wow. The artwork in The Somnia Tarot is spellbinding, mesmerizing, and absolutely breathtaking!! I agree with you completely that the white borders are distracting and unappealing. I don’t know how you feel about this idea, but if I owned this deck, I would choose a contact paper and re-back the cards so that I could trim the deck without running into an issue with the original backings by cutting into the borders with the way they are now. I think this deck would feel like it had new life breathed into it by customizing it in this way. I may have to buy it and trim & back it, because the artwork speaks to me in a way very few decks have done lately. I am so glad to have seen your video and discovered this stunning deck!

I usually hate borders, but I really like the white borders on the Somnia Tarot. I think it makes the dark images pop. It also reminds me of a polaroid.

Hey LIzz! So glad you are back! Hope you are healed 100%! I've sworn off Kickstarter for the same type problems you've experienced, but mostly for endless delays with no delivery dates in sight. I have the Mara Lunne and love it! But mine came in cardboard box (and not a very good one) so I must've not seen the tin option. I rarely pick up RW clones anymore, but the ML is so calming. I did the same thing as you on Somnia and have followed your exact same train of thought! Not sure if I'm going to go "all in" and order the newly published book to see if it offers any insight, or cut my losses and move it on. (Kinda hoping someone orders the book and walks us through it soon so we can decide!) Will be decluttering my whole life in 2022 so a lot of decks I'm not using will find new homes! Please show us the Book of Maps! I have Benebell's Revelation edition also and would love to see the hard copy book it in one of your vids! I have both editions of Tyldwick and you are right, the second edition is just too dark IMO. Plus it's too hard to shuffle. Still one of Thee most original decks ever created. Loved this show-n-tell, thanks so much for treating us to the walk-throughs!

Unfortunately, I have now acquired a Rae Dunn mug collection that I’m loving, but that and tarot are my only two collections. I will do a video when I’ve had some time to go through the Book of Maps more. It’s a chunk-a-monk for sure! ❤️

I have the Winter Waite, and SKT and enjoy them both. I have never been drawn to the Tyldwick despite its popularity. Personally, I find it hideous and it makes me dizzy just looking at it. The Somnia tarot (in my opinion) is a lot of hype for nothing. It just gives me the creeps and I agree with you that the white borders ruin it and are annoying. Thinking about getting the Mara Lunne as well. Thanks for sharing your insight. I enjoyed watching your review

The Corrected deck is coming this autumn along with a web application. The Twilight of the Gods Tarot will have the fixes. The new manufacturer allows in depth proofing.

I also have Twilight of the Gods... yes, I was disappointed in the errors, but the art work is so so beautiful. And I did purchase it pre owned so don't feel as upset as I would have had I backed it on kickstarter. Sadly it's a pretty poor response (although not the only creator who has done similar). I'm not sure if I can bring myself to trim or mod it yet, though time will tell. I'm also considering how to fix the font...

A second edition is out on Kickstarter now and I'm not sure but I assume those words were fixed. I won't be repurchasing after the experience I had with this edition. I'm glad you are enjoying it though!!!❤️

Lol😂I'm late to the party as usual. I love the Art Tarot . This is the first i have seen of it and i want it. The second Tarot the Twlight 🙄what a shame ! That would have been Beautiful but i sure as heck wouldn't want to work with that ! TOO annoying ! I have the Mara Lunne and love it. I think i saw that on Robyn's channel- Toadstool Tarot, i think ? Now The Somnia Tarot the boarders don't bother me but the covered heads do ! I can't breathe when i look at them so i am glad i passed on that one . I love the Spirit Keepers Tarot but missed out every time. I agree with you on the Tyldwick Tarot it looks like someone made it in the dark. It's way to dark to enjoy. The Winter Waite Santa's helpers is so cute. I got the other one like you said and they were too confusing without the Titles. I still use it but it would have been more enjoyable with the titles. Seems like you have a lot of the same opinions as I do! I find the Mara Lunne to be very soft and comforting. I haven't worked with the SKT yet because it's so in depth and I want to give it the attention it deserves and life is too busy right now. I hope you're able to get the Art Tarot! Enjoy!

I can definitely see that, Matt! But, perhaps used as a shadow deck or during times of feeling trapped where no clear choice can be made, it might reflect that energy. When you order from make playing cards, how do you get a matching tin?

Some decks are made by the creator to include a tin, but it would say that in the listing. You can order a deck and make a tin yourself but for your own personal use. That’s how I make my zipper bags. Hope that answers your question!! ❤️

This was nice, you just came up in my feed....tarot tarot tarot. I love Tyldwick. So happy that they released the second edition so that more people can experience the deck! However, I agree with what you said. Neil was a very detail oriented artist, the first edition was the first deck I ever purchased for myself. (My first deck was a birthday gift) I love the way little details come out with time. It's a deck I still love to just sit and look at because it is heartbreakingly beautiful. I am one of those people who has all three Spirit Keeper's decks. I love them all and use them very differently. I even made the majors only one off her website AND the mini one she did as an add-on with the planner. Obvs, I am an acolyte. I did the ritual coloring in the first Book of Maps, I have read the BoM's cover to cover. The 3rd edition BoM is totally different. I did a challenge with Esther/Mindful Tarot #dropm78 with the Revalation edition. It was really nice for reading the new book, because I could do one card, read the book on just that card (that really is most of the book) and the read the rest at my leisure. You certainly don't have to read all the i ching entries, you do that when you have a hexagram to read (otherwise it doesn't really mean anything) The court system works beautifully in the context of the deck. Herald/Page/Messenger Shining/Knight/Action Sheild/Queen/Protection Archangel/King/Heavenly Help. Hope this is not too long! 😁

I have the Somnia. The white borders don't bother me. I really don't like the backs, though. The images are gorgeous. The creator of that second deck should be ashamed. Making a mistake is forgivable. Refusing to fix it is shameful. Anyway, thanks!

That's great that they don't bother you. I guess I want to be INSIDE the scene (figuratively speaking) with borderless images. ☺️ I have not received an update on the two court cards he claimed he would replace, which was AFTER his initial response to a backer saying he would NOT be. But, as for the last update, he had no intention of replacing the tiny text cards with proper size text. I still have not used the deck and am not drawn to in any way. I will most likely rehome it to someone who did not share my experience. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Frances!

@@tarotfortheheathens9556 Yeah, that deck creator would've really turned me of his deck by now. Bad vibes. I had a problem with a deck creator once and when I asked for her help she ignored me. The deck is beautiful but unused because a card was missing. Even if she responded now, I'd still not use the deck. She ruined it for me.

Oh that second deck is so disappointing. It has so much promise, such an amazing idea, but this many errors? And then refusing to fix it?? If this was a deck I had made, I would be horrified and at the very least fix reprint the cards that were wrong, and offer the replacements to those who had errors. That’s very upsetting, it feels like the creator doesn’t care about his deck, which ruins the experience of the deck completely.

The somnia borders should’ve definitely be black, less thick, or borderless. It is a beautiful deck otherwise though, I like darker decks like this. Borders don’t always bother me, sometimes they work for the deck, but in this case not. so much
