Your issues with quality control are legit. Won't be buying the Victorian deck now that we know customer service is non-existent. Wonder if they realize how many sales they lost by not simply sending you another deck. On the Wandering Star, the box is too big IMO to send via padded envelope, should have been shipped in a proper box. And the bowing of the deck right out of the box? Again, unacceptable IMO, a new deck should have been sent. My experience with Indie creators is same as yours, usually they are quick to remedy the problem, no questions asked! So glad you posted this so we're aware! Love your channel BTW, you always have such good insights!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Vada! These indie decks are expensive! While I understand that they are costly because they are not mass produced, they are still a product that needs and deserves some guarantee of quality control. I DO have another Victorian deck on the way after all that hassle so I will be putting up another video on it when I get it, but who knows when that will be with it coming from overseas. I had an issue with Tarocco Studios last year when I ordered the 1st edition of the Revival Art tarot. That deck took about 6 months to arrive. Now, I had ordered it just before the pandemic hit full force, and Russia post basically collapsed for a couple months. I was absolutely and totally understanding that there would be delays. My issue was that the creator didn't communicate at all, and barely responded when I would reach out for an update (which happened only twice in the whole 6 months). All I was asking for was an update on their end, because for a long time it wasn't clear on my end whether the deck had shipped, or what. The way their emails were worded was very clipped and irritated, as if I was bothering them, and not once was there any expression of regret for the situation or appreciation for my patience. Nothing earth shattering, just not the kind of experience that would lead me personally to repeat my business. The deck finally arrived and it's beautiful, though I haven't worked with it much. I was actively looking at the Victorian Art tarot as well, but in the end decided against it, partly because of my previous experience, and partly because I didn't quite gel with the depictions, and the fact that the deck was very euro-centric. It so happened that I saw the Lua Tarot at the same time and it was everything I wanted from a b/w Victorian deck. The images speak to me better and I love the diversity of humanity depicted in that deck. The booklet that comes with it is also packed with useful info, and the quality of the box and card stock is stellar. The creatrix Maree Bento is lovely and I will definitely be buying more decks from her in the future (especially when the Divine Muses oracle comes back into print). This right here is an example of what you mention in your video: in this niche business, customer loyalty is everything. Especially now, when there is so much choice in decks and there are so many similar ones coming out. You want your customers staying loyal to you at all times. Sending you a free deck would have been the right thing to do in this situation, because in no way is this deck acceptable as is. I'm sorry you had this experience.

It's funny too because I emailed them at the end (again, in a very neutral and polite tone) and said that my experience was what prevented me from purchasing from them again, and got no acknowledgment. I wasn't trolling for a discount or any special apologies, so I found the whole thing just strange. And you know, I really relate to what you said about how this kind of experience can affect our relationships with the decks. I've ended up passing on a few of my decks (I won't specify which ones) because of how the creators behaved. I can't separate the creator from the deck, personally (which I know is different for everyone). And at the end of the day, very few decks are irreplaceable. To me a deck is priceless because of the relationship we share, the intimacy, the responsiveness of it, the profound and transformative readings it delivers. I have a handful of these special decks and they mean the world to me. But outside of this kind of emotional value, most decks are completely replaceable, and most of the time you can find another that will be quite similar. So yeah, makes even more sense for these creators to pay a bit more attention to how they treat the people who give them business.

@@lyra2282 absolutely right. It's so important for creators to be sensitive to the feedback and needs of the community. These decks are friends and confidants...relationships that sometimes can't be obtained from real people to be honest. ❤️

I know that technically readings are conversations we're having with aspects of ourselves; but then how to explain the vastly different emotional and energetic experiences we have with each individual deck? Some decks just feel empty, or are reluctant to respond, while others feel like a part of you from the first interview. There must be something in their personality that is separate and individual. I tend to think about decks in a way similar to animal familiars. Some just resonate on a frequency that happens to match with ours in a very special way. But apart from that match, they are their own individuals, also.

I have been really wanting to order the Revival Art 2nd Edition, and I've been hesitant due to international shipping. Now I'm leaning against it because the customer service you received is not acceptable. Thank you so much for sharing because others deserve to be aware of your experience.

But, I wouldn't want to impede anyone from getting something they love. Knowing the risks and benefits so we can make informed decisions is all I'm after with my reviews. Happy belated birthday to my fellow Piscean! You just saved me some money on the Victorian Tarot! I adore the images, but my beloved Lua Tarot fills this niche and I don’t think I would reach for the Victorian Tarot over that. Plus...know what their customer service is like is just appalling. I just received a deck where the borders are slightly off...not as bad as your deck. I haven’t decided if I can live with it or not. Thank you for showing these Marseille books, because I’m going to need one when I finally bite the bullet and hunker down to learn!

Hi Bonnie! Thanks and hope your birthday is great as well! ❤️ There were parts of my conversation with the creator (or Tarocco Studios rep) that I left out. Not a good experience at all. This will be the last deck from them I buy. I'm glad you have something better to reach for so you don't need to take a chance because others on FB have had similar issues as mine with similar customer service results. We'll see!!! 🤞❤️

6:44 that type of imperfection would not bother me… it would probably actually add a bit of charm. It’s a Victorian style deck… historically I think things were much less perfect.
