That's what I love about Briggs small engines from the 50's through the 80's. The parts interchangeability with slight modifications is possible to keep an engine running especially the 2-4 hp series. A tinker's dream.

Taryl I think you’re awesome you make small engine repair entertaining and fun. I love this kind of work ever since I was a little kid. To me instead of work it’s just something fun to do. When I was around 14 years old, I started finding lawnmowers and stuff people were throwing away I would take them home take them apart and clean them, put them back together and they ran like new. I’m 68 and disabled and live in chronic pain and working on things like this is something I truly miss. Keep making the videos you’re helping a lot of people. God bless you. And like you say there’s your dinner hahaha 😂

You guys get an A+ on this video from me. The old engines and equipment are the most satisfying to get running again. Those power trowels, you push down and lift a little to "steer" them left and right when they are running.

Your the man Taryl. I ran into the same flywheel issue on an old 3 horsepower 1960’s tiller I was fixing for a friend of mine. I had to get a newer flywheel to make the magnetron coil work. The magnets on those old engines are different and won’t work with the magnetron coil.

Just a thoughtful idea. I just rebuilt a 1979 Toro snowblower and it was a 8hp. I took the tank that was nasty and put some small rocks, wood ash, and Pepsi or coke and shook it a bunch and cleaned up sweet. Just my thoughts.

Never run a concrete one but i wonder if the handle is the same as a waxing machine where you lift up or down on the handle to keep it from moving in one direction. Lift up or down to keep it centered. It controls the right to left movement.

I'm glad you got it going and did right by it keeping as many of the original parts in the process. Now as this is not the average homeowner equipment it would be swell to see it return to a job-site where it can celebrate it's return from what may be decades of neglect. How happy it will be to return to the sunshine and finishing the surface of a home slab or patio.
