I love this so game so much. A family friend of ours had it installed on our pc 16 years ago and I spent way over 6 years( it was a brick without internet ) speedruning it all by myself, im glad I came close at the end of the day :) keep it up dude, this game needs way more attention than it gets

I've been playing this game many times since I'm a kid and this is my first time seeing a speed run of it. It is actually way faster than I initially expected. I knew there are some bugs, but the way you use them as shortcuts is something else. Also amazing mechanics, I did not even know there was a wall jump mechanic.
@BinaryBlob3 жыл бұрын
Well, this is a TAS (Tool Assisted Speedrun) so all inputs are pre-programmed. The human performed world record is 17:48 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmK2iH2ihZmVl9U) so it's quite a bit slower. The walljumps are just a developer oversight. It's frame perfect and also depend on your alignment. At full speed you move at 8 pixels per frame and if you were to be 8 pixels away from the wall and try to walljump on the next frame it won't work. At 6:52 you can see that I slow down just a tiny bit to avoid this.

10:23 what's up with the music there? Feels like it skips a beat.
@BinaryBlob3 жыл бұрын
That's weird. I never noticed that. Something seems to happen with the beat at 10:14 as well. Maybe the sound of the spring affects the pitch of some part of the music? I know that some sounds can get a different pitch if two sounds start simultaneously. I've heard this many times when bricks drop during the queen fight in the second level but I don't think I've ever heard it affect the music.

Legendary run man! Loved the huge level skips by jumping over walls. How do you climb walls like that, is it only possible with TAS?
@BinaryBlob3 жыл бұрын
If you press down on the exact frame you hit a wall the game thinks you're standing on ground. If you hold jump while doing that you'll be able to jump off the wall. One or two wall jumps is doable RTA but the only episode we do them in actual runs is in the shareware demo. For Spaz I do two wall jumps near the start and for Jazz/Lori I do one wall jump on the last level.

how do you jump so many times with spaz? like in 6:58 or 14:10 and other places???? its save so many time, and mach better then the bombs...
@BinaryBlob5 жыл бұрын
Those are wall jumps which require a frame perfect down press. Depending on your speed and distance from the wall the frame before you hit it you sometimes wont be able to make it though even if you get the frame perfect down press. This is a tool assisted speedrun though so it's not actually me playing. All inputs were programmed beforehand. The only instance that I can think of where I do wall jumps in an actual run is the beginning of my demo% as Spaz: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZqVmmd8l9qGgJY

I wanted to use Jazz2TAS to make a TAS of Jazz Unleashed Demo, but there's a major problem: Use of Jazz2TAS results in Access Violation. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to get Jazz2TAS to work?

I think the issue can be that Jazz2TAS is not compatible with jj2+

why is there no water in the "Marinated Rabbit" level? I always have to swim through which is so much slower and harder to do. Are you using a patch or what kind of version is this?
@BinaryBlob5 жыл бұрын
Nope, no patch. I'm using version 1.24 of the game published by LK Avalon. The trigger that enables the water is located below the spawn. If you buffer a jump while the level is loading you can jump over the trigger.
@MrUlf13375 жыл бұрын
@@BinaryBlob aah alright, i'll need to check what version i'm using and will try that jump. thanks
@MrUlf13375 жыл бұрын
@@BinaryBlob I use the 1.23 version by Epic Megagames (I think). water does spawn immediatly after the level is loaded, even though i jump mid air as far as possible.
@BinaryBlob5 жыл бұрын
@@MrUlf1337 Did you move to the right as well? The trigger is below the spawn point so if you just hold jump you'll still hit it on your way down.

@BinaryBlob3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's kinda hard to estimate how long each level takes since I rarely do a full level in one sitting. I started working on a Lori TAS a while ago and I believe I did Tossed Salad from start to finish in a 2-3 hour livestream. Some levels require a lot of trial-and-error and can take multiple hours while some levels such as Funky Grooveathon is quite straight forward and can take less than an hour. If we account for the time spent reverse enginering the Queen to get the best RNG I'd definitely say that Knight Cap took the most amount of time.

Why's there no water in the water level?
@BinaryBlob3 жыл бұрын
The trigger that activates the water is just below where you spawn. By simply holding jump when the level starts you can skip the trigger. You of course also have to move sideways to avoid the trigger on the way down.

It's a tool called Jazz2TAS. With tool assisted speedruns, you place the inputs in order to get perfect gameplay. The hard work is making sure each input is set optimally and every strategy is looked into. There's no rewind so it can get very tedious.
