I'm somewhat fascinated by this game's awfulness. The only truly terrible design aspect is the jumping into an enemy (red bird thing) to get to the next stage.

Every kid in the 80's who played this enough would like to disagree. It flies differently than the other vultures, it is immune to bullets and by the time you find it you're used to jumping in random places. It stands out like a sore thumb. It's one of the least cryptic things in this game.

This game doesn't live up to the others and yet I have a strange love for it. It has a certain mindlessness to it a guy my age appreciates. It's like a hundred dollar bill buried under 8 tons of dog shit. There's fun to be had but you're going to have to dig deep and you're going to get messy.

I give this game a 10... err.. for it's Yuge level design and tremendous puzzle they put within it + they did it in head spinning assembly language (machine code)! believe me! :D I remember seing this game in the store... marveling at its box art, thinking: I can't believe they did a super pitfall! (this was before I bought the game back when it was released, we did not have internet). I had known the previous Pitfalls an even the arcade one, which I loved. So I could never think they made a disaster out of this one! I was very disappointed with the mario look-alike and the horrible "Marioish" control my jump in mid air thing which was not present in its earlier versions. Bad mistake. But being a fan of Pitfall 2 Lost Caverns, I gotta say I do still like this game for what it is.

I speedrun this game and saw you drop past the balloon and go through the bricks to the ladder. I tried making that exact jump about 30 times and no matter what you do, you can't glitch through that block. I tried shooting exactly where you shot, jumped exactly where you did (which is insanely hard to not grab that balloon) and it never worked. So unless this is some cheatin ass TAS magic, you're doing things that aren't possible in the game without cheating beyond button inputs.
