The first stop on our Tasmania road trip is the stunning Tasman Peninsula in Tasmanias South East.
Officially our holiday kicked off a day earlier. We stayed the night at the Stamford Sydney airport because with travel ramping back up, we heard the airport would be chaos (it was) and we had a super early flight so didn't want to risk the traffic (absolutely 10/10 life decision).
We landed in Hobart to the MOST GLORIOUS DAY! We picked up the car at Hobart Airport and first stop was some groceries because, whats a road trip without snacks. We headed to Eaglehawk Neck lookout and the Remarkable Cave to soak up some views while we pondered if we were going to take on a big hike.......... and of course, its us so we opted to start a quite substantial hike at nearly 1pm to Cape Raoul. This 14km hike is a stunner! Incredible views over Shipstern Bluff (one of Australias most famous surf breaks), sheer sea cliffs, ever changing scenery, absolutely beautiful. We did however underestimate how much water we would need and forgot the chap stick so there was a lot of complaining on the up hill section/ basically the whole way to the car.
We had a 2 man chip and dip party down at a beautiful beach to congratulate ourselves on another great hike and once we had eaten enough guac to feed an army, we headed off to check into our accommodation at the Fox and Hound. We had low hopes for this accommodation (it was pretty cheap) but it was cute and cozy (and a little odd) and the view out our window was stunning.
The next morning we woke up to ANOTHER perfect day, we popped down to Stuarts Bay to eat our breakfast with a side of coffee of course then headed back to Maingon Bay lookout (where we were the day before) to get a unique perspective on where we had hiked. After we chatted at the lookout for a while reminiscing about our cape Raoul hike, we headed off to our next adventure!
We booked a 3h boat trip with Pennicott Wilderness Tours to experience the sheer sea cliffs and abundant wildlife of the Tasman Peninsula from the water. We loaded up on ginger tablets, slathered ourselves in SPF, donned our bright red spray jackets and headed off. This trip did not disappoint, we could not stop smiling the whole time and best thing is, we didn't get sea sick despite how incredibly bumpy it was out there. we got to explore sea caves, get up close to Tasman Island, bask in the beauty of the incredible sea cliffs AND we saw SO MUCH WILDLIFE! Dolphins, seals, birds, blue fin tuna.... the list goes on.
We hopped straight off the boat and into the car to head north and before we knew it, the day had gotten away from us so we decided it was time to open a cheeky bottle of Tassie Sparkling that we picked up on our way from Devils corner and kick back.
We cant wait to share part 2 with you!

Woah the boat trip looks amazing! I'm considering to take a boat trip with Pennicott Wilderness Tours, and I see that there are two options: Tasman Island and Bruny Island. I was wondering if you had done a research on the difference between the two?

Beautiful quality video, a pleasure to watch. I left my heart in Tassie. I lived there for about a decade in the 80's to 90's, so some nostalgia stirred as I watched.
