Hey Reshmi, Thank you for sharing, I remembered going to liberty my first time in New York with my uncle, my kids were small at that time and they didn't want American food, they only wanted doubles to eat so my uncle took us to liberty. I stopped your video half way through and called my uncle in New York, He was happy I called and chatted with him, after which I continued with your video and I must say I'm very impressed with the fresh markets, the next time I visit New York (which should be in a few months) I would cooked my uncle a nice Trini meal cos he buys a lot of his meals... you have a gr8 day and again! I really enjoyed your post...

I enjoyed this video.I visited liberty avenue years ago and it was on the hunt for a good tasting roti.I was so homesick then,having just migrated to the U.S.A. I felt I was in heaven. I still have that feeling whenever I go to a Trinidad roti shop in the U.S. Roots can be a very strong tie to one's culture and conditioning. As a child my Dad would take me to the Arima market every Saturday morning,i was mesmerized by the colors and scents,true enough not pleasant at times,but there was something about fresh vegetables and spices. Thank You Taste of Trini.

Wow you get more stuff there than we get home! I can't find chataigne out of season and that tamarind paste look good. It's nice u have everything whenever u get nostalgic for home. Thanks for making this video, we really appreciate the effort. Btw y did u stop using the fried rice seasoning?
@TasteofTrini6 жыл бұрын
karenandisa My sister said the same lol. Yeah I have to try the chataigne one day, haven't bought any yet. The tamarind paste is really convenient. You just need to dissolve a little in some water and add your seasoning and sugar and you have tamarind chutney. I feel good that I have a lil piece of home here. The fried rice seasoning and most of those packaged dry seasonings contain MSG and I've been suffering from bad migraines when I use it, so I can't use it anymore. Happy you enjoyed the video☺

Hey Hassa is a wonderful fish in Guyana,and it is caught from creeks and lakes and very clean polders and so on. I know Trinidadians turn up their nose at this fish and this is because their people catch them in questionable trenches. But we Guyanese people have big rivers and creeks and clean fishes.

I used to shop there also but don’t anymore cause they pretty much more expensive for their items. But, I’ll surely recommend Apna Bazzar few blocks down. Get lots of Indian and Caribbean produce and grocery for way cheaper. Their shadow Beni aka Bandania is much more bigger bundles ... etc ... even the curry leave you get more for your money. Just my recommendation. For fresh and good fish come to Supthin Blvd in Jamaica Queens and you’ll get the best fish market in New York.
@TasteofTrini6 жыл бұрын
Tricia Prentice Okay, I'll have to check them out, I only go for the curry leaves. I go to King Fish and Seafood in Jamaica Ave...their seafood is always fresh, but when I can't make it there I have to settle for Fish World which is a little more pricey😐
@triciap6666 жыл бұрын
Taste of Trini ... that’s the fish market am referring to which is on Sutphin Blvd not Jamaica Ave. always the best seafood from them but understand you can’t be there always so have to settle for Liberty Ave.
