I’m going thru an extremely depressing time in my life. My oldest and dearest joy of all time has always been cars, and I’m staring to loose interest in them. I look forward to Friday now because your videos are keeping me going brother ! One can have all the money, cars, houses, but if you don’t have a sense of purpose and joy they don’t matter. Thanks for keeping me inspired, you have no idea how much of a positive impact your videos can make in someone’s life. To those who replied or liked my comment: I appreciate everyone’s support and encouraging words. Thanks fellas !

Today, I became 54 years old. It's 36 degrees here in Adelaide. I've got the day off work. I used to own a 205 GTI 1.6 on a G plate. (Best car I ever had) When I sat down today on my KZbin throne, the beanbag and saw this weeks episode it made me feel 19 again. Hells yeah, this stuff is epic.

Oh, so great. 205's hold a very special place in my heart as well. My mum had a diesel 205 when I was learning to drive, so it was one of the cars I practiced in (along with whatever dads car at the time was, I suspect the diesel 305, but that was a rare drive for me).

Pug 205's are mega. I learned to drive in my parent's 205 XLD (1.9l), which they had from new in 1988 and kept until it was scrapped in 2011. We limped it onto the forecourt to get it traded in on the scrappage scheme, but she was thoroughly dead by then. Rear steer issue, flat and bald tyres, starter motor had gone, trim panels missing, seats destroyed, everything was faded, the paint was destroyed, rust all over it, oil leaks, some gears seemed to be in pieces and wouldn't mesh at all, brakes were questionable, no handbrake, backbox was clinging on, manifold was blowing, 300,000+ miles on the clock..... But did it drive itself onto the dealership forecourt as it was required to do? Yes it did.

Nice acquisition to the ever growing fleet. It looks like the driveshaft was the issue that saw it laid up, so sorting that was heroic. At 11.41 it looks to me like the nearside strut is missing a fixing , so you might want to check that out first , because kicking arse on 2 fixings could end in tears. Great video Ben, really enjoyed it, as always.

Just what I need Ben. I'm in rhe process of getting my late mum's 1991 1,6 automatic back.on the road. The big job (for me at least - I'm a teal beginner !) is swapping out the stupid automatic choke with a manual kit. I'd love to get a twin carb on it! My plugs were black too from overfuelling, which was due to the auto choke problem. I wonder if this one has the same problem? The sunroof got vandalised a few years ago unfortunately, so I think I'll just weld a steel sheet on Poppy like this one. Edit: Lucky man you have a manual choke! The auto choke is an absolute nightmare! Poppy has never idled properly since she was new! PS if anyone has a rev counter for one of these let me know... i'm looking for one! Sheer joy (again Ben!) Thanks for this. I'm inspired to get on with mine, though Poppy is 785km away on the West coast of France at the moment, dozing peacefully in her garage with her friend Rita my 1985 Renault 4TL. Can't wait to see where you go with this!

Dampness - guessing when you filmed this over the past few days, if it was last weekend when there was a warm spell following on from the first cold snap/snow. As a result the relatively warm moisture-laiden air will condense on the cold engine block. So it's not water ingress inside the shed. Cheers Ben, keep up the good work

You looked like a kid in a candy store with that car 😂 I think you got a real good deal on it, especially since it has the performance goodies too in the engine. That car is going to be top notch once you get a proper tuning to the carbs and everything.

Smashed it again Ben, what a great little car with a huge heart. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

I use to have a bog standard 309 and it was the best fun car we had. Same front end looks and age 😂 A builder was pebble dashing the outside of the house and a splodge ended up stuck on the front wing. I left it on and was driving all over with it still there for years 😂❤

The 205 in any guise always brings back great memories for many who have owned them. Enjoyed owning many from a 1.9 diesel to several GTIs biggest regret was selling my last one. G447SNL you’re greatly missed 😢

Nice find at a VERY reasonable price and sounds so good! But I would never have picked you as a Peugeot fanboy! Judging from some of your videos, it sounds like you really need a specially prepared "recovery bugout kit". Something that is SO sacred, you NEVER raid it for tools/odd parts while you are in the workshop. And multimeters are cheap enough nowadays to always have 2 or 3 around!

Awesome little car. They are legendary. I have had 5 406's with the 2.0 turbo. Both Sri and the executive. They are amazing cars especially when you put a bit into turbo upgrades and other bits and pieces. Have been looking for another for years but they are very far and few between. A very underrated pug is the MK1 106 xn. Only a 954cc r speed but the legs are long and being an alloy engine it was light. Even lifted one side out of a ditch when I parked it while it was snowing. Lol. a lot of fun. Nice job. Looking forward to your next video.

Wow! That was a beautiful video. Taking us along with you on return trip to headquarters added so much immersion to the experience, it heightened the sense of the unknown and expectation. Brilliant work in the Nissen hut.👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻

An intermittent Battery light is a faulty/dying alternator. I had this issue also on my bmw E39. You will see on a multimeter/diagnosis tool you monitor it on for a while that it will over and under charge, mine would only happen after like 10mins of running and the light will come on for a second and go away. It was like this for weeks and when I checked with a multimeter it was fine, but I checked for like 30 seconds. Suddenly I had ABS cut out and transmission intermittently, anyway turns out it was the alternator. thank you for all the amazing work and video.
