This was a great GRWM, a reminder to treat ourselves good so we can treat others good as well! We definitely push our emotions down and put off what we need. Being a mom, full-time employee and finishing my degree in 2020, I constantly ignore my bodies cues that I need to slow down and breathe! Ignoring those signs led to herniated disc, sciatica and terrible stomach issues. It's important to be healthy and so I can be there for my family too! Thanks for the reminder Tati!

I have something super new this weekend, my daughter got married, they sort of eloped but with their parents and siblings. My mom who has been struggling with lung cancer for two years got some really bad news last week and my daughter really wanted to have her Nana at her wedding so we went to the courthouse and then had a lovely dinner with immediate families afterwards. Their reception will still be in October but she’s still married. This has been the most whirlwind of emotions I can’t even explain, I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much in two weeks than I have these last two.

@@mirny1509 thank you I am too. It’s funny because we had a crazy Christmas because my daughter and her fiancé at the time both had Covid two weeks before Christmas and since my mom‘s diagnosis we try to make the holiday special and we didn’t want to miss Christmas so we had decided since we were having really mild weather that we would have Christmas on our back patio. I had redone our patio a few years ago so I have the big conversation set and big chairs, we had fluffy blankets and started the fire and we made finger foods then opened up our presents. My mom said it was one of her best Christmases she’s ever had and I’d have to agree it was quite fun doing it outside, thank goodness we live in Las Vegas and we were lucky enough to have mild enough weather to do it so I will cherish that forever. By the way I guess I forgot to say because of my mom we didn’t want to have the holiday indoors just in the sheer minute chance that she could catch anything, the kids were not feeling sick whatsoever but the doctor had said they would test positive for the next month or so for Covid so we couldn’t tell by that.

Tati, there's a stretching exercise I do for myself which has fixed a lot of the issues in my neck and shoulders... It's very simple. Imagine you are a string puppet (marionette) and have a string attached to the center of the middle of the top of your head. Sitting upright with your back straight, visualize this string going from your head directly up into the sky and move your head gently upwards as if your head is being pulled by this string from above. Doesn't have to be fast or hard, start gentle, just pull your head upwards and then let it fall again, do it a few times. I do it all the time randomly, sometimes I hold it for a few seconds and release, other times it's just a quick up/down. I also do it lying in bed on my side a lot when I'm going to sleep and often hear a crack in all the right places. It's actually just the direction of movement which is important and the string visualization instantly helps you do it properly, once you've got the hang of it you don't really think of the string. Much of the neck and back pain we have (disclaimer, I'm not a doctor) is due to the small muscles being slightly out of whack in one direction or the other and one side is pulling more than the other (can happen just by how you hold your head a lot etc), over time the vertebrae can go microscopically out of place and nerves can get pinched. When it's all wrong it's like tent pegs pulling the tent ropes and the tension on some is too much and it distorts the tent, they all should be pulling the same and exerting the same tensions in all directions, not favoring one over the other. You want to stretch the contracted ones out so the bones can move back to where they should be and then the stretched ones can have the strain released. Anyway, this string from the head movement works for me so well, it's not a direction of stretching you ever think about, but it's extremely gentle and effective at getting the neck and shoulders back to how it should be so give it a try.
