Love the clarity of themes in her performance. Every note is distinct and with Shostie, this is important because of his rich thematic content!

Been looking for this for years - absolutely blew me away when I saw it live in 1992. No idea why the BBC never released it. This woman was born to play Shostakovich!

I was there too and came here looking for this- I remember the incredible sound quality, particularly in the second movement- that first note brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to whoever posted this!

I played this concerto for her being her pupil at the Tchakowsky Concervatoire in 1993 for a shortly before she died from a stroke that hit her during a concert in San Francisco. I was on a concert tour myself and read about it in the newspaper. The recording brings back memories I can tell you!

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask you for a favor if it was not much to ask. I have to play the first movement of this Shostakovich concerto and I am struggling a lot writting the fingering so I wanted to ask you if you had ever played this concerto and if you would somehow share me your markings if possible, I swear this is the first time I do this. My apologies and thank you in advance. Keep up the good work everyone.❤️

What a genius she was (and I had the pleasure of meeting her and sitting in on her lesson). Where do you find all these recordings?

imho: this is not a performance of the concerto ds wrote for his son; this is a VIRTUOSO SHOWSTOPPER cover--i wish niko left it alone, stayed away from it and realized that turning it into VIRTUOSO SHOWSTOPPER cover was like showing us how fast she could play mozart turkish rondo...
