I have never tired attaching my tatting directly to an item such as this. I am afraid it would not come out evenly. You make it look so easy to do. Thank you for showing how this is done.

You're welcome Gemini! You should give it a try, it's not difficult really. Start with a simple edging and you just need to give a bit of thought to what you will do at the corner. I often like to improvise when working a simple edging and tatting directly onto a handkerchief, see where I land near the corner and improvise something that fits to turn the corner.

I often thought that piercing the fabric like that, would cause the fabric to fray somewhat. But I am defiinetly going to give it a go.

As the end of the hook is slightly rounded rather than really sharp, the hook goes through between fibres rather than piercing and damaging them.

I love your shuttle - what brand is it? I have my great aunts old metal ones and would like a pretty one like you are using.
@11Frivole7 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, they are modified and decorated Aeros - I have added the info on where to find them below the video. I find metal shuttles too heavy; they cause too much tension on the thread as I work. These shuttles are really light and have always been my favourites (even in their plain, undecorated form!).

i'm a beginner can you do this also with tatting needle . How you have to start.it is so nice and I would like to try but I'm not using a shuttle
@11Frivole4 жыл бұрын
Hi Myriam, I'm sorry but I'm not a needle tatter so my demonstrations are all made with shuttles. There are lots of other tatters who make videos with a needle so I hope you find what you're looking for.

Great video,but is there a formula for figuring out the measurements to join? This is one reason I haven't tried a handkerchief yet.
@11Frivole8 жыл бұрын
+ReadyWillnnabel I'm sure there is a formula... but I don't have a very mathematical brain! :-) If it's a really simple edging, I will often eyeball it. If it's something a bit more complex like this one, I will get my ruler out and place it against the side of the edging and just look where the measurements fall and then move my ruler until I'm the same distance from the corners on each end of each side. I explain a bit more following your comment on the other video (Broomstick Lace Part 1).

Soy principiante con esto del frivolite, quizá podrías hacer una lista de los proyectos que podría hacer un principiante. Desde lo más fácil e ir avanzando por pequeños proyectos :) yo los haría para llegar a ser tan buena como tú. Saludos

Hello Isidora, it's a good suggestion, thank you. It would be a good idea to organise my videos and make a list. I'll try... but I just often don't have enough time for everything. :-) Thank you for your comment.

Are you using the core thread for the loop through the hankie?
