Thank you guys for watching my video. What you would like to know about tattoos? Let me know if you have any ideas for new videos I should make.
@electriclinda7 жыл бұрын
To me it sounds like it got some scar tissue from overworking the first time. A tattoo should then rest at least 4-5 weeks before retouching it, otherwise you get scar tissue. You actually got it twice, from what you explain. You can tattoo over it, but wait, let it rest, the longer the better. If there is a bumpy scar, you should wait at least 3 years before tattooing over it, otherwise the scar tissue will not heal well, and it can get worse. The coverup will camouflage the old tattoo, but if it is very bumpy, the texture will always show in some lighting. Find a good artist who has a lot of experience with coverups and the style you want. Good luck!

I work in a tattoo shop, we have an hourly rate, minimum price and a full day price, it’s a lot better that way because if you’re doing a full day session, you don’t need to rush, you can have a short lunch break with a client which is sometimes necessary when you are working longer than 5 hours straight, the client doesn’t feel the pressure of sitting through a difficult session if he’s not good with pain, you can take your time, have breaks etc.

I'm so self conscious about getting a tattoo. I have one I got years ago in my teens but it's just script and it's relatively small. I'd really like to ask this one local artist what she would charge for a piece I have in mind, but I'm so scared to ask because I'm afraid she'll think I'm shopping around or that I'll ask her to come down in price or something. But it's honestly just that I'd like to know so I know how long it will take me to save up for it. Idk i get so scared of being judged for asking questions.
@rujanmjesec5 жыл бұрын
I know that feeling, I have the same problem. But a good tattoo artist will never judge you for asking for a price. When you go shopping, you see a nice shirt, of course you will look at the price before you buy it, so why should it be any different with tattoos? A good tattoo artist understands that!
@jamb44505 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. I want a tat but I don't have much money, so I need to know how much so I can save up.
@musicgal4215 жыл бұрын
I think a good artist encourages asking the price. It’s all in HOW you ask. If you just say how much and expect a price that’s not going to work. But if you walk in and say I have this piece in mind I’m wondering with time,placement and if it’s something in your artist level( ok find another way to say that🤣) what would I be looking at. If they judge you for asking move on to someone who won’t judge! You need to feel comfortable with them! They’ll be marking you for life!
@jamessheppard47095 жыл бұрын
Don't be scared to ask for a price most artists are happy to give you a price up front. Show them the piece you want and the size so they can price it. My suggestion is to save $200 before you go to the shop to ask, the tattoo shop I go to has a $100 (CAD) minimum but most of mine have been between $150-$300 also plan a few $$$ extra to tip your artist if you like their work, most don't get the full price of the tattoo.

I'm no tattoo artist, but from the handful of tattoo shops that I've been in and been tattooed in, they have a shop minimum of like $50-$75 dollars for like small tattoos or like walk-ins and then for the bigger commissions like several hours+ they would have like a down payment that you would have to pay during the consultation that wasn't necessarily refundable so that in case the client flaked, they would still have some money to cover the cost of prep and design. And then they would have a combination of hourly and set pricing depending on the size of the tattoo and how long the tattoo artist thinks they might need to complete the tattoo. Of course I'm just speaking for my experiences getting tattoos and also seeing my friends get tattoos as well. I really like your videos and they help me learn more from the artist's perspective than just a tattooed person's perspective!

I must admit I really know very little about tattoos. And up until very recently, I never considered getting one. But I have seen some beautiful work on people. I'm fast approaching 70 and I thought I might take the plunge. I have a specific tattoo in mind. Nothing real fancy or overly colorful. I realize it is art but sooner or later a specific price must be agreed upon and paid. So if an artist cannot give me some ballpark dollar amount when I have a consultation, how can I make an intelligent decision? From your title "Tattoo pricing", I was hoping you would provide examples of some of your work and what you charged for those tattoos. That would really help someone like me.

@jessebandit_tattoos41427 жыл бұрын
Our shop minimum is 40$ plus tax as we do our tattoos we charge more on the piece then the scale of it as for me I’m a bit of the slow and steady wins the race kind of tattooer I do full color pieces all rounder but I tend to use my mags to the point I can’t anymore in a tattoo then take my liner up to the edges to make sure every bit of it’s saturated. We don’t have set prices for things it’s whichever artist you choose there price is there price and we stand by that in our shop just so no one goes over each other’s toes and I agree to the theory of the different artists different prices something I may charge 200$ on maybe something I wanna do more then something I wouldn’t wanna do which would take more time and labor out of our schedule so it maybe higher in the end the prices are up to the artists and what is felt need be charged anywhere you go. Good to see someone actually making good content on alternative questions asked among tattooers to clients

I usually will ask what they charge, whether hourly or per piece, not because I'm looking for cheap, but so I have an idea of how much it'll cost me. Then I'll ask them how long they think it might take, as they have experience with it, and they'll usually guesstimate, again, so I have an idea how much it'll run. I DO talk shit about other studios if they did me wrong. Went to one studio, they charged $150/hour and they DO beautiful work, but their attitudes stunk. I'm not asking for falling to their knees for me to be a customer, but don't talk shit about my pieces I have on me and don't give me attitude. I'm paying for you to put what I ask (aside from professional opinions) onto me. I don't want attitude. So, for my recent piece, which they also charge $150/hour, it took 4 hours, and everyone was polite and kind. That's all I ask for. If I pay you to place art onto my body, at least be professional, polite and kind. And of course do decent work, but I want at least people to be nice. The guy who did my piece was nice and I got breaks, so after paying $600 for the tattoo, I also gave him $70 tip. That's all I want. Be kind and customer oriented, not a big douche.

I like to get an idea (“ballpark figure“) of the cost before getting started with the tattoo to make sure I have the $ & tip before the person starts. No one works for free & I want to make sure I can pay for it before beginning.

Hello there and good evening, I just discovered your channel today and you have great content!!! My question is more that I would feel bad asking the price because it is a common question yet just to give me an idea. I don’t have any tattoos at the moment now but would like to in the future and want to be able to say all the right things and not bothersome questions, if that makes sense? For example, I am thinking on my front upper right thigh I want something that is related to Halloween, such as a Wendigo, jack-o-lantern or skull. I know tattoos can be expensive, but it is worth it in the end. I never want to offend and make an tattoo artist angry or upset. I thank you for making these because I don’t want to be the person who is a bad client or unpleasant one.

I have no idea what her prices are but what I've seen from other shops it would probably be a minimum price, depending on the shop it could be anywhere from 50-150 usd, the minimum price is something that would not take the full time of their hourly rate or under their deposit price so no matter if it took 5 minutes or 40 minutes you'll pay that minimum.

my tattoo artist charges £70 per hour.. no doubt he is very good at what he's doing. so he recommended me to take a full day session with him cos it was "cheaper" - £400. I had it few days ago and let me tell u - never again!! If I take off all the breaks (I didn't ask for any, he insisted) the real time he tattooed me was about 5 and a half hours. I can't push him telling do your job, I don't need that many breaks, fuck knows maybe his eyes hurt or he's tired.. he was playing video games on these breaks btw.. so basically it was just a rip off...

But did he have to draw the desgin first. My last tattoo i had took him 2 hours to draw as i gave him a small photo to work from. Booked me in for 4 hours but only took 2. But i still paid for the 4 hours as he did lots of prrp work

All tattoo artist need the price for the area their shop is in if you are taking somebody's whole monthly income to do a tattoo you are overcharging them

I understand that there is a HUGE price difference in tattoos, because one might take 5 minutes and another 5 months. But there all these videos by tattoo artists who talk about clients asking for a price like it’s a big annoyance. But....um....I need to know if I can afford the car I am going to buy before I sign the papers! I know design I want, about what size and color, will have the artist do the actual design. But then I need to know how much! I have no clue what any tattoo costs. This might be $100 or $1000, that’s a big difference and would mean I can or can’t get it. Yet, these videos make me feel like I am a jerk for even asking. (Not you, Linda! You seem sweet. ☺️). You don’t buy stuff from the store without looking at the price, I should be looked at like an uncultured worm for asking.

Love your videos, Electric Linda! But I'm wondering: why do many people from northern Europe, like Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands, have American accented English, instead of British accented English? Is the American culture somehow preferred over there? You really sound like you grew up here in the U.S.A.! And my second question is for all the tattoo artists out there (including Linda!): Do you collect the money before, or after you have finished the tattoo? Thanks for any feedback!

Hello Linda I've just discovered you here on KZbin, checked your personal portfolio on Instagram (I think you are the perfect artist for me because I want a cover up and a correction to a piece I already have) your shop 's account in Instagram and website and I was amazed. I was planning to come to Norway on March or April for 5 days vacation because it's a beautiful country and I have around 10.000 Nok at the moment for Tattoos (I know they are not a lot but I'm collecting money for that cause because I wanted to get new tattoo(s) on my vacation as birthday present to myself) . I wanna know if you charge by the hour or day, if you have a minimum charge, how many hours maximum you are working for a client and how much are the charges. Except that I wanted to ask you if you are free these months or when it's best for you.. Sorry for this long comment and all these questions (i wanted to ask and write more details but I hesitated) I just want to know everything in detail before my trip!! Thank you for your amazing videos and advices!!!Much love from Greece :)
