My cat trusts me and I trust her, and in turn I get cuddles quite often. But sometimes when I want to cuddle her and she doesn’t, I’ll gently force her into some cuddles for a minute or two, and I jokingly call it “paying rent” 😅

One thing I try and do, when holding my cat, is let her feel supported (she knows I'm not going to drop her), but not restricted. So she feels like she has authority and isn't restricted. One cuddle "destroyer" is a particular blanket I like putting on my bed. Usually, at night, my cat jumps on the bed, I lift the covers and she comes under and curls up against my belly, purring contentedly. However, the texture of this one blanket (like mohair), stops her in her tracks. She instantly has to start making biscuits and totally forgets about me!🤷🏻‍♀️😄

Got my bengal from the local shelter two weeks ago and she's probably still settling in, but she'll only come to me for cuddles.. She does not like being approached or picked up.. She also does biscuits with claws and if I touch her too much during cuddled, she will eat me alive.. But she will lie next to me or on top of me in bed all the time.. And then always in the most inconvenient places, like splat middle of my bed or right where I usual keep my legs..

I know this is off subject but i was wondering what are your thoughts on Mia being a one household cat. I heard that Bengals do better with another cat as a companion/playmate. I will be getting my bengal kitten in 8 weeks. She will be an only cat for now. I am considering a second bengal down the road. Also i am always home and have plenty of time to bond with my kitten.

My cat is often very cuddly which I love 💜 it's really funny sometimes though because he doesn't seem to be a fan of lying on me when my legs are bare so he will often stare at me until I put a blanket or cushion on my legs for him to lie on 😂 he's often rather impatient when I pick the blanket up and won't even wait for me to sort the blanket how I want it 😂

The clicker helps mark the behavior, so you would really have to click when they jump on your lap or sit on your lap. If it’s ongoing, clicker is not needed

I have an easy fix - get a Burmese! 😂 Preferably a male - both of the boys I've had have been total cuddlebugs (females tend to be slower to trust but can be just as cuddly once they decide they like you).

With kittens, usually their regular food is good enough. Just place the training sessions between meals so that they are hungry!

That's such a good question. It's not a cat reason... it's a human (selfish) reason. I travel by plane a lot. I live far from home and I go visit often. Having one cat allows me to take her with me. With 2 I couldn't.

There are a couple things you can do if you want to train your kittens together: 1) Use a different clicker sound (so that they don't confuse their "click" with their siblings) 2) Teach them different tricks (so they don't both do the trick at the same time) The other alternative, is locking one cat at a time. You can lock yourself with the cat you are training instead of the cat that it's not trained. That makes the experience for the cat that's alone nicer.

My cat (7 months old) likes to cuddle right after he eats and when he wakes up from a long nap. Sometimes, he will cuddle when I want to. I smooched and cuddled him a lot when he was tiny, so he is used to it :)

@@OutdoorBengal I spray my plants with a very dilute solution of lemon and orange essential oil ( so dilute I can barely smell it), doesn’t seem to hurt plants but has kept my naughty savannah from destroying them. Also , works with the Christmas tree. Now for the men, if I could figure out how to keep them from wandering after they have been trained🙃

Yes! The transition can sometimes be hard. Kibble is the "junk food" in the pets realm and it's tasty and crunchy and with a ton of aroma... it's hard to compete against that with natural products. The transition has to be slow and using both products simultaneously, phasing out the kibble slowly.
