41 seconds, that's faster than most affordable cars, and even some less affordable.... Schienenwolf, where you the engineer on this train? If so, can you explain why the middle-eastern-accented guy screamed 230 while we saw 220? Also, was this with or without the test-carriage?
@LAUCHGeorge2 жыл бұрын
I think thats because the taurus 1216 (which this locomotive is called btw.) is allowed to drive 230 km/h. (The locomotive is mostly used in austrian railjets and austrian cargo transports)
@KL539863 ай бұрын
OBB 1116 (ES64U2) has 6400 W 86 tons and max of 230 Km/h Max power of 300kN so they have extremely fast acceleration and first made in 1999. Which is extremely impressive for a series thats about to turn 30, of course the train in video is the U4 variant introduced in 2005 with slight upgrades but the stats are very similar to its predecessor.
@Dutch3DMaster2 ай бұрын
It's actually not Middle-Eastern. It's a Dutch person :P . From what I can hear he is astonished that they'd be able to reach 230 in such a short time if they were allowed 230.
@KL539862 ай бұрын
Pretty impressive... But that might be that most modern Locomotives have engine power that is 20 to 30x higher than Average car... This is however compensated by being 40 to 80 tons, multi system locomotives have significant increase in weight due due to equipment needed for it to run on multiple systems. So average car engine can output 125 Kw of power on average of 1,2 Ton Taurus (Or OBB 1216) has 6000 Kw and weight of 87t. Both have high acceleration, but Loco will still not be faster than Car because its again 72,5x heavier .

I'm very sure it won't. I hear Dutch voices in this video and they are referring to the only high speed commuter line we have (which at the time was seeing massive struggles, and continued to struggle after acquiring some of first doomed V250 trains that were supposed to run on it but suffered massive technical problems and turned out to be designed by a company that was completely clueless about building high speed trains). The distances between stations on the high speed line tend to be to short for the top speeds of the Shinkansen, the curves on the route only allow max speeds of around 250 kilometers an hour if I am not mistaking. Some of the foreign high speed train services that run on it can run at a maximum of 300 kilometers an hour, so as you can see, we are not even close to beating the Shinkansen, which holds a record for a very good reason :) (I hope to somehow see one in person someday). The video is with a carriageless locomotive by the way.
@thefistofshadow73924 ай бұрын
@@Dutch3DMaster The Shinkansen had a lot of problems in the early days too, you cant compare a max. 250kmh line to a max. 350kmh line but thats not even that important because the Taurus has nothing to do with this specific line in the netherlands. No Shinkansen has nearly the acceleration of a Taurus, but the Taurus cant even go 250kmh on regular service, it has a service speed of 230kmh but its in tests it was capable of doing over 350kmh. This video isnt about topspeed, its about acceletraion. "we are not even close to beating the Shinkansen" european trains like the TGV or ICE do just like the Shinkansen all have 320kmh services so i dont get your point. And if we are talking about high speed tests, the record is still with the TGV. I think you are confusing the MagLev Shinkansen with the conventional Shinkansen train on their 600kmh high speed testing, the chinese build a system that can go 600kmh on regular service, the Shinkansen does 500kmh. So what exactly are you comparing? Because there are european trains doing the exact same service speeds that the Shinkansen does and it doesnt have the top speed record on tests.

@@Dutch3DMaster Yeah, normally Locomotive wont accelerate that fast but would certainly hit 60 relatively fast... Obviously freight trains have poor acceleration due to weight, so they always try to slow down before stopping at (Red signal) as accelerating a moving train is easier than train that is completely stopped.

@@weeardguy 2008 was before the Fyra trains were delivered, the first ones arriving one year later in 2009. I think (but I'm unsure) that when those arrived the Taurus was sent back to Austria, but around the time of uploading only that locomotive (or a Thalys train, I think they occasionally used one of those as well) would've been available for testing purposes.

@@treinenliefde Ah yeah, that's right. The Fyra-era is a bit of a vague memory for me as I was hospitalised for a few times around that time. I think there was even more than one Taurus, I vaguely recall a parallelfahrt of two locomotives on the HSL.
