Today I took my Taurus G2C to the range which has the Curve SA/DA short stroke trigger installed thanks to Keep Tinkering! The difference is like night & day. The stock trigger was terrible, it would hang up on reset, had no consistency at all, I hated that trigger. The new trigger is great and now my G2C is enjoyable to shoot. Made all the difference in the world! Taurus should get ahold of Keep Tinkering and use his triggers! One of the biggest reasons I sold my Taurus 709 Slim. I loved that gun but hated its trigger too. Thanks again Keep Tinkering for installing this trigger! If you have the G2C, you need to get one of these triggers!

Thanks for the support! Just keep in mind Taurus made several variants of the 709 Slim, and probably several 740 variants as well, and at least one of them at a smaller than normal trigger guard. If you have one of these smaller trigger guard versions and install one of my triggers, you may have to sand or file down the bottom of the trigger to clear the smaller trigger guard, then possibly touch up the bottom of the trigger, which a permanent black sharpie marker does pretty decently.

Good honest review. My G2C has been a good gun so far. I replaced the front sight with a truglo pipe sight. Also replaced the trigger with the Keep Tinkering trigger. Takes up the long travel & retains the restrike capability. Still has the short & sweet reset. It's been a good, reliable & accurate gun for me.

I'm a soon-to-be owner of a G2C .40, and although you put this and a few other videos out years ago obviously they're still relevant and drew my interest after reading reviews and forum posts. Your name kept popping up. Among a few other upgrades I've noted that the stock trigger gets the most attention as far as performance, or lack of. I anticipate that I will be doing at least a few upgrades on my Taurus very shortly after physically receiving it and it looks like a slight curve SAO will be at the top of the order. The G2C is good entry level gun due to price/affordability but I see it as a great gun after swapping available upgraded parts, every bit as good as Glock's or Sig's. Thanks for the videos and for selling quality and dependable products.
@KeepTinkering Жыл бұрын
Thanks! And I agree they can be fantastic guns. Like many places that sell less expensive products where Taurus falls down compared to other manufacturers is in quality control and some performance oriented things like the trigger. My goal is to both give assistance with trigger performance, and also to help sort out any inconsistencies that may have slipped past the original quality control. Once one of these guns get sorted out it is my experience that they are incredibly reliable and make fantastic firearms.

I dont advertise that these work on the 709 slim, because there are at LEAST 4 variants (maybe a lot more) of them all with minor differences. However everyone I have heard back from that has tried one of my triggers in a 709 slim has had it work fine. @@iTsKovxkzR Sorry you are having issues. As is stated in my various adds and in my FAQ on my website my triggers do not work with the stock G3 variant trigger springs and those guns require one of my trigger springs to use any of my triggers. My triggers do work with the stock G2 variant trigger springs, however the stock trigger springs are often barely sufficient, as they not only provide the trigger return, but also provide the sole tension to support the trigger bar, which controls how the trigger bar interacts with the rear sear for firing and reset. So even with the G2 variants I still recommend my stiffer trigger springs as they provide more positive trigger return, and can help make trigger reset more consistent and audible.

The stock trigger can "catch" if you pull it sideways and not straight back. For me, I am not concerned about the trigger itself. I don't like the stiction I can feel as it is pulled slowly. Yup u can also get 15,18,20 and 32. Probably more by now. I know there are also +2 and +3 baseplates now for the 15 and 17 round mags. Be careful with adding baseplates without changing the spring, can become unreliable. Like a p226 mag in 20 round flavor (its 18 with a +2 baseplate) just didn't work right for me. Even the extra power Wolff spring everyone suggested doesn't do enough. I had to put both it and the original spring in to get it to function reliably. So 2 springs in 1 magazine. And the extra spring took it down to 18 round capacity due to that, less space under the follower. I plan to try a different spring from a actual 20 round mag or higher from another manufacturer.

Good job on the pseudo backstrap. Made my g2c so much better. Works flawlessly and looks amazing. Watching again to pick one for the g3 I just picked up. Maybe get another for the wife probably a da/sa for the her. Only thing I would note its (pseudo backstrap) gonna be tight with gloves for me i think, will update when I get a chance to test. if you have fat fingers and want the best reduction and a skeleton, Maybe try the straight skeleton sao. Thats what I'm leaning towards for the g3. If you don't care about skeleton try the heavy curve flavor as seen in the trigger lineup in this video. SA/DA trigger would be nice in the straight skeleton flavor, would probably get the curved sa/da skele for the wife just because there is no straight skele in da/sa.
@KeepTinkering3 жыл бұрын
Yea, absolutely, the Pseudo is great if you have large hands and dont use thick shooting gloves, because expanding that trigger face to backstrap distance just helps so much with people that have medium and larger sized hands. But it does very much limit the room left between the trigger face and inside of the trigger guard. For general use, or if multiple users are going to use the gun, I recommend my SAO Standard, as that seems to work well for just about everyone.
@LostLeftyLimb3 жыл бұрын
Are they all the same default position (before you pull) or does the long back strap (the forth one) push the trigger forward more at rest. I want a MUCH shorter trigger pull but I don’t want to have to reach out further for the trigger before firing if that makes sense. Thanks! I’ll definitely be buying one of these from you soon.
@LostLeftyLimb3 жыл бұрын
I looked around and watched some other videos and answered my original question but, Do you have the medium throw in SA/DA? And do you think you’ll be making the shortest throw version in SA/DA as well?
@KeepTinkering3 жыл бұрын
@@LostLeftyLimb Adding the SA/DA function is what makes the throw longer, so it isn't possible to make an SA/DA trigger that has a throw as short as the SAO triggers. In practical terms this means my SAO triggers give you a trigger pull length of about 0.3” typically and the SA/DA triggers have a pull length of about 0.4” typically, so it just depends if you want to keep the restrike, or if you prefer the slightly shorter pull length. As far as the trigger face to backstrap distance goes, the SA/DA Slight Curve, SA/DA Standard, or SA/DA Skeletal are all in the middle, and are all great choices. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

What is the feel difference between the SAO Standard and the SA/DA Standard triggers? Do you get a more tactile reset from one vs the other? Also, how much takeup is there, comparing one to the other of the SAO vs the SA/DA? I'm not super-worried about the restrike. What I'm really looking for is something that FEELS like the DA/Restrike pull of the trigger. I wish the stock trigger was like that and I wouldn't have much of a problem with it because it's just more consistent.
@KeepTinkering2 жыл бұрын
Kirk, when you have one of my triggers correctly installed the SA trigger pull is VERY consistent. As far as the difference goes between my SAO and SA/DA triggers, they are almost identical. Same leverage, same reset, etc, the only real difference is all my SA/DA triggers have about 70% the travel distance of the stock trigger and keep DA/Restrike and all my SAO triggers have a shorter travel of about 55% the travel distance of the stock trigger, but they disable the DA/Restrike function. In practical terms this means my SAO triggers give you a trigger pull length of about 0.3” typically and the SA/DA triggers have a pull length of about 0.4” typically. It is possible to make these guns DAO by removing the rear sear. However the problem is the DA/restrike sear is forward of the main sear, so it doesn’t compress the striker as far as releasing from the main sear does, which means the DA/Restrike function doesn’t hit the round as hard as the primary strike does. In fact, in the testing I have done, if you remove the primary sear and try to only use the DA/Restrike function to fire the gun, with the stock 4-4.5lb striker spring it only hits hard enough to ignite about 30% of good working factory Federal ammo, which have primers that are known to ignite especially easily. I tested this with my G2, G2c, G2s, G3, and then put their main sears back in and tried all the "dud" rounds, and they all fired fine the first strike with the normal SA. Doing the same test with one of my striker springs that is closer to 5.5lbs bumped that up to about 65%. If you wanted to convert to DAO and be able to reliably ignite the majority of commercially available 9mm ammo on the first strike, I am guessing you would want around a 8+lb striker spring, which would substantially increase trigger pull weight.

All my SAO Triggers cut the factory trigger travel distance on a G2C by about 45%, all my SA/DA triggers cut it by about 30%. The SA/DA function triggers require the trigger to come forward further, and since the Straight and Pseudo Backstrap already come pretty close to the trigger guard, it isnt really viable to make those in the SAO style.

I like those skeletons. What would you recommend someone who doesn’t have “long fingers”? Lol. I’m looking for a reduced poundage and reduced take up.
@KeepTinkering4 жыл бұрын
The Skeletal is a good option. The Standard, Slight Curve, and Skeletal all bring the trigger face forward about 1/4" at break compared to stock, but they are about as far forward as the sock trigger safety when all the way forward, which I feel is a good compromise. So as long as you can reach the front of the stock trigger fairly easily any of those 3 are a good choice. The Curve is about 1/8" back from those 3, so if even reaching the front of the stock trigger feels a bit too far, the Curve is a good choice.
