I just bought a Taurus PT92 AFS-D. Awesome gun! The stainless steel model is beautiful and well made !

Double action/single action goodness. The Berretta 92F is one of the safest guns ever made. P.S. You can still get new Berretta factory magazines in many sizes for the 92FS guns.

My PT92 had a decocker. I don’t know if this is an older model but I thought you just need to press the safety down to decock. Similar to the HK USP setup

What vintage is that Taurus? It must be very old. Mine is more than 20 years old, has a decocker / safety, no Picatinny rail and still runs very well with a variety of ammunition. It also has white dots on the sights for a clear three dot sight picture, but I've changed the front dot colour to a neon pink.

My PT92AF did not have a decocker and it did not bother me. Just lower the hammer manually but today the PT92s have a decocker. It had a smoother cleaner breaking and better trigger both DA and SA than most Beretta 92s at that time and I had a Beretta 92 also later that had a much better trigger than other Berettas. The PT92 frame mounted manual safety was better than the Beretta slide mounted safety/decocker. It out shot and was more accurate than the Beretta 92s my buddies had. My grip was a Pachmayr rubber wrap around on my PT92, not factory stock wood grips. PT92s are made on the same Beretta tooling for the older model by Taurus. I would take a PT92 over a Beretta 92 any day and I have had both and shot both. So I disagree with you.

if one were to get a PT92/PT99, it might be worth getting a set of Beretta or Wolff springs (Wolff even has a spring kit) for the 92 series and swapping them out since even with the older, better built, Tauruses the springs objectively aren't as good. Also, 90's and newer PT series guns have a decocker built into the safety (press it down past Fire) so it's not an inherent part of owning one, although it's waaaaaay stiffer than the Beretta's safety/decocker

the newer pt92 have a decocker why would you manually do the hammer also if you want to lighten up the trigger put in a 14lb hammer spring the advantage the taurus has the frame mounted safety decocker and you can carry it cocked and locked if you know what to do for upgrades its a matter what you like and ifs price go with a girsan regard 92 I think its better and cost is 500 or less PS I own all three its what you prefer my carry is the girsan MC BX their version of the M9A3 and I had the barrel crowned to the side

The problem with the newer PT92s is that quality is a hit or miss. You might get a gun that runs fine for a few hundred rounds, then breaks, or starts to have problems...you might get a gun that runs perfect for thousands and thousands of rounds...or you might get something that is broken right out of the box....it really is a crap shoot. Even the silly cheap grip screws (different from the pre-decocker ones) that they come with these days strip easily, it is ridiculous. If I get really bored one day, I might buy a current PT92 just to see if quality has improved over the last several years. All guns need proper care and maintenance, including the Beretta, but a locking block should not be *SHATTERING* in under 200 rounds from normal 9mm Luger ammunition (my last PT92 did this). That is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. It seems most of the older pre-decocker PT92s are pretty decent guns.

Buy a used good condition beretta 92 variant over new or used Taurus period . Mags , parts , springs , value retention and at the end of the day reliability and durability . And if you have to send it back for issues I’ll take beretta over Taurus . Then there is aftermarket support if you want to customize it , beretta wins .

The quality is beretta hands down . Buy once cry once . I don’t hate the Taurus , the quality control and testing is no comparison . You are not just buying a platform or design , you are buying the brand and their parts and overall fit and finish . Remember the locking block is a wear point for this platform , the beretta can get factory or aftermarket parts to replace . I don’t know about Taurus or Girsan parts being readily available or what parts are interchangeable with the beretta . Think of all then testing and real world the 92 platform has been used in . Just the mags availability is a deal breaker to go with beretta

I like the comparison video for 2 “similar” guns at much different price points; however, I don’t think anyone would (or should) choose either of those options as a first carry gun in 2024! There are so many better options. Not that the 92 isn’t a great gun, but it is not a great gun for carry in 2024 with all the other better options for that role.

I don't know why it's not a great/good carry gun? Our experiences may vary... I'm a 5'6 inch 76kg man I keep successfully concealed in tack pants pants, shorts and jeans and it doea not print..... I carry a stainless decocker version with no rail and key lock.
