In this video, Akai MPD32 Basics Part 1, I cover some basic points about the device for beginners who want to know how to use the Akai MPD32 USB/MIDI controller with Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software such as Propellerheads Reason, Image Line's FLStudio, and others.
In this video I explain how the MPD32 is a controller and not a sample storage device, since a lot of new buyers confuse this device with the Akai MPC.
This video can help you understand the difference between a control surface and a sampler. It can also help save you some money by helping you choose the right type of device you need.

@T00thPick13 - Remember, the MPD32 is a controller - it is a piece of hardware that allows you to trigger and control software devices. The MPD32 IS NOT a standalone sampler. If you don't have music creation software like Reason, FLStudio, Ableton, etc., you will; have to get that separately.

@BazzaBeatz - Yes, the MPD32 will work with FLStudio 9. It is tricky to setup though. Do a search here on KZbin and you will find vids to help you set it up.

the 26 and the 32 are very similar, but the 32 does I have a note repeat. All in all I would say they are basically the same thing and will do pretty mutch te same thing for you in the area of makin hip hop beats

I don't use pro tools, so I can't say if the MPD32 will work for you. Just remember that there are no sounds in the MPD32. IF you find that you can use the MPD32 to trigger sounds with in pro tools, you should be able to record in pro tools because the sounds would be in pro tools.

Ayy bro ive been trying to figure out how to get the tap tempo on the akai mpd 32 to sync with reason. Can you give me some advice on how to get it working? And another thing does the 16 levels on the mpd work with the kong?

I have the Akai MPD32 and, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, there are no vids that completely explain the Akai MPD32 thoroughly on KZbin. There are only vids of people just making music without any detailed explanations, or no explanations at all, I know because I've checked. The only way to get that done, is to pay for expensive private courses. It's unfortunate, but true unless proven otherwise, so the only thing that my MPD32 is good for right now, is to collect dust.

What if you want to record a instrumental beat two and mash then together. what would you use for that.

NaturallyCurlyFlyGyal VixenMezniqueeMattisDiaz - I would use something like Sony Acid to mix two beats, if that;s what you mean. I also use Reason to do this on rare occasions.

@Livegutta Exactly, I'm sure you were born understanding all the intracity of producing and the hardware used for it. I would probably revise your statement to say "anyone who hasn't used an MPD wouldn't understand how to use one, because they've never used one" If you've never touched an MPC or MPD and claim you knew how to use one the 1st time you ever saw it, you're lying, flat out.
