Great video. Wish I came across it before I installed this

I put the black bushing on first because my pto has a taper and that black bushing has a bevel on the inside to match the pto taper, then I put washers to bring the driver out for alignment to the driven.

Why would you loctite the nut for the driven? Did yours loosen up while riding? I think people overtighten those.
@LinksGarage4 жыл бұрын
If you use a hardened bolt and locktite there is no need to over tighten them and they do come loose. I recommend to install with just a ratchet and use a lock washer and when the gap closes it's good. Nothing on a small engine needs as tight as a cars engine.

@@LinksGarage I was asking about the large nut that holds the driven pulley on. For the driver pulley I used a 2 1/2" bolt, a lock washer and a flat washer, and torqued it to the Comet spec of 20 ft/lbs.

@@Deucealive75 that is some chains can catch on the back lip of the pully and when you put a washer in there so it dont catch. Sometimes it just needs insurance due to vibration. When chain catches it slowes it down and prevents true top speed

I'm having an issue... My TC maxes out at 3640rpm top speed. Why is it maxing out with such low RPM? Up on a stand it definitely goes higher in RPM. I have a ungoverned Predator with 18lb springs, header and fake mikuni.
@LinksGarage2 жыл бұрын
Free spin and load spin are different U can try adjusting the driven pulley to make it take longer to max out

@@LinksGarage But will that actually make a higher top speed worth it? I don't care about an extra 1-2 miles if it's putting an extra 2000rpm on the engine. Let me also say the first time I drove the bike was on a different carb that was actually broken (Jets broke in the carb) it wouldn't Idle off choke until the engine was a little warm and the idle was TOO erratic. this new, same type carb is different but better I would say but also i hat the 203590 belt on the first time when I reached higher RPM BUT belt kept popping off and ripping up. I got aq 203589 now. Could that be why it's maxing out at that rpm? When I drive off at WOT it will reach around 4100rpm then drop as well. Thanks for the responses I really, really appreciate it.

@@xaviermccloud4586 yes different belts are different sizes the 89 is about 1" shorter than the 90 belt so it will give faster speed at lower rpm But first off is the engine modded with a cam and billet rod? If not that is why.... A more modded engine is the heart and can be done to get good speed with lower rpm but the real sweet spot is 4krpm-5krpm...6krpm should but depending on mods and gearing can get it to about 60+mph on road And off road build can be 50mph off road

@@LinksGarage nope only the springs and head gasket is a 0.10 but I think all non hemi come with that. I'm 220-240 lbs too. So I guess I will try the longer belt. I know it was giving me a better top speed and only about 1200 rpm more. The TC at that time was also misaligned a LITTLE before I put the new smaller belt on so what I am going to do is see if now that I aligned the TC right, will the longer belt pop off or get eaten up. Thanks for the help, it sooths my brain loool.

#420 chain will grant some extra clearance as well
@LinksGarage3 жыл бұрын
Not really cause a #41, #420 are the same width but a #40 is wider All mine use the #420 420+41 are 1/4" between sides(plates) 40 is 5/16 between sides(plates) Only real clearance will be in a #35 which is 3/16" between sides(plates)

@Skott LeFever do you know the tinsile strength of chains? And a #41 can take a beating of a 420cc built to 18hp with a torque converter heres your fun facts #41 tensile 2866# #420 tensile 3700# #40 tensile 4188# So it takes 2866lbs to break a #41 chain when used properly Enjoy the info

Hey buddy I have that same yameige 669 belt and a 89,90 and 91 does not fit. 89 is way too tight and 90 and 91 or both too big
