Tavares has given wonderful music, entertainment, happy memories to all their fans for 50 plus years. But heartbreak and tragedy has plagued the family. My goodness......they picked themselves up , and keep on with their appearances . They have such close family ties. 🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺

One of my favorite records of Tavares which should have been a million seller but wasn't, these proud brothers have been around since the 1960's! Originally known as Chubby & The Turnpikes, Taveras made their claim to fame in the disco era with classics like Heaven must be missing an angel and It's only takes a minute!

I hate it when groups speed up the song over how the record played. This was one of my favorite Tavares songs, but not like this.
@Odawg963 жыл бұрын
As I tell young people all the time-and as the owner of more than a few live albums from the 70s-everything is faster live. The adrenaline, the energy from the audience, YOUTH. And it’s especially true with R&B and funk records. When my dad game home with an R&B live add album, I expected things to be a little faster and to sound different. Also keep in mind that back then, the artists had to hold back in the studio. When they went LIVE, that was the REAL thing.
@sullairman3 жыл бұрын
@@Odawg96 If I was one of the " young people " you've told this to I might just say ok, thanks. But since I'm 70 and have been involved with music for a long time, I can tell you I still don't like it. Every song James Brown sang live was always faster and I didn't like that either. The music I like is because of the way it sounds on record when I first heard it. Don't care if it's R&B, Jazz, Rock, the American Songbook or Polka music.( Ok, I don't like Polka music. " I understand what you're saying, still don't like it when it's played too fast.
@Odawg963 жыл бұрын
sullairman My bad. LoL. 70, huh? How did you make it through the 70s not liking the way live music sounded? I was gonna say...EVERYTHING James Brown did live was fast. We had all the Live At The Apollo albums (Vols1-3), live albums by PFunk, the Commodores, EWF’s “Gratitude”, and everything was faster. I will say, though, that Maze was pretty faithful to their studio tempos on their two live albums, and War tended to stay true to their studio temps (except on “ Cisco Kid”). Well, as Sly said, “Different strokes for different folks.”
@carouselred89943 жыл бұрын
@@Odawg96 Interesting discussion between you and sullairman but l have to go with you. The energy between the artists and the audience always caused live performances to speed up. For the most part it was great! A great example is "Night of the Thumpasarus Peoples" by Parliament.
@Odawg963 жыл бұрын
@@carouselred8994 Yep! To me “Thumpasaurus People” ALWAYS sounded better live. The first version I heard was live, and so the studio version has always sounded like it’s trudging through mud to me. The song really comes alive on the “Earth Tour” album, though; there’s some EXCEPTIONALLY funky rhythm guitar work by Glenn Goins and, of course, LEAD guitar work by Michael Hampton that just ain’t on the studio version. The version that appears on the “P-Funk All-Stars Live st the Beverly Theater” cranks like a mug, too!
