@Michael Whitehead - ...and "dress like a slob". C'mon Dexter, Bozeman has a dress code? Hope that doesn't mean I have to buy a new wardrobe for the next visit to Bozeman. Agreed, very nice guitar (workmanship, sound, etc) and, as usual, outstanding demo.

Wow! Quinton can make any guitar sound like something I can't live without. However, I find myself agreeing with the comments about "too much innovation." After all, the 812ce 12-fret DLX, an astonishingly beautiful (in every way) finger-stylists dream, introduced in 2019, has already been discontinued. I didn't even have time to corral my resources. I too am a fan of Taylor guitars, but this is like drinking from a fire hose. Still, keep up the good work as I plan my trip from Florida to Bozeman.

This guitar seems to follow in the steps of Larrivee's 00-40 rw or 0-40's models w/slightly different features. Very nice but pricey as well. No beach guitar for sure.

Is it possible that Taylor is innovating a little too much? They make beautiful guitars no doubt, but I'm not sure I even want to try and keep up anymore.

Be it from brand snobbery and/or actual quality in the past, the now outdated opinion of Taylor guitars as "lesser than" is now largely fading; they are top tier these days. I find myself wanting (affording is another matter) any top tier Martin, Eastman, Taylor, Gibson, and, of course, Collings (drooling uncontrollably) guitar. For those, like myself at one time, who may have had an opinion of any acoustic guitar that is tied to a brand name, I encourage you to play most any these days. You will find acoustic guitars that are mostly good and examples that are not so impressive. Of course, there are some acoustics that will be very impressive at many price points. Unless you desire a particular builder, you are unlikely to go wrong with most acoustic guitars on the market these days; there has been a marked improvement in build, quality, playability, and sound overall. It is possible to find mediocre acoustics, but this balanced out with many more good offerings than there used to be. Keeping an open mind and finding that guitar that feels right for you (please, take your time with this) is what is most important. Remember, the "best" guitar is the guitar you don't want to stop playing.

This would be a nice couch guitar. I’m a huge fan of Taylor Guitars and appreciate the company thinking about ergonomics when they bring out new models. However, I do believe the company may well be using the dart board theory, throw them out there and see what sticks. IMHO Too many models looks like too many solutions looking for a problem. Andy Powers is trying too hard at this point, he has already proven his worth. There are just so many dollars chasing new acoustic guitars. Running this many sku’s can be confusing and self defeating, no matter how good the product. At some point, whether you’re a retailer or the manufacturer, you’re just eating into your own established volume. It must cost a fortune to tool up for a new model. I wonder if there isn’t the law of diminishing returns at work.

@Randall Harris - as a Taylor owner and frequent visitor to the Taylor El Cajon shop, it almost appears Taylor is experimenting with styles/designs/models as though they're a custom boutique guitar shop. First obvious sign was when Taylor switched over to almost all electric on standard models (non-electric is still an option...but has to be ordered from Taylor for most, not all, but most models). At one point, with reference to evolving offerings ("SKUs") Taylor offered electric and non-electric, almost split down the middle. Other seemingly rapid-fire model changes, new models, etc. introduced within a relatively short time span has added to the confusion you referred to. As much as we hate to admit it, it also almost seems Taylor is stumbling, searching for that magic combination that they can standardize on, Jason searching for the golden fleece. Hope Andy Powers realizes that, in reality, Taylor is not a boutique guitar maker and can't maneuver that way in this market. Knowing many other Taylor guitar owners, it most definitely would be a shame to witness Taylor's self-fulfilling prophecy of "diminishing returns."

@@DJWRailroad I give the company props for trying to be all things to all people. Martin, to a similar degree, is doing the same thing. My concern is that in trying to be that jack of all trades Taylor may just be cannibalizing itself. I give them props for innovation though. I would love to see the line standardized and finalized and then market a parallel "premium" line across the board of "Builders Addition" models for players looking for a high end truly premium acoustic guitar. I think the Builders Editions are stupendous.

@@RandyBelinda - You had referenced Andy Powers in your comments I believe. Having met Andy Powers (personal tours, taking friends, etc to tours) I'm almost given the impression that A Powers is like a kid in a toy shop with Taylor. Maybe a poor analogy, but that reference to cannibalizing itself (we used to use the term "eating its own babies"), as much as I hate to admit it, has been rattling around in my mind for the past 3+ years. Conversely, having met and talked to these folks (as well as watching the Taylor vids) I strongly believe Listug, Taylor, even Powers will put the brakes on any possible downward momentum, long before any impending disaster. Correct, Taylor is trying to be something to everyone or every level of player, while maintaining workmanship in North America (or, "Central" if considering Tecate as part of Central America). After all, it goes without saying there's a bigger market for less expensive (vs. "cheap") acoustics than there is for what can be consider mid to high acoustics.

$3000 minus $1 Beach/Campfire guitar? I bought two GS Minis and I have been meaning to ask Taylor for a longer 24" scale length GS Mini-esque guitar but not one that is $2999! Made in Mexico $999 with a "layered" back and rim, drop the electronics and now, we're talking. It looks more like Grand Theft at $2999 for a Beach guitar than Grand Theatre to me. I am getting all Drama Queen here but that comes from looking at the price tag. C'mon Taylor, do one for us beach bums. Beach-busking isn't all that all that you make it out to be.
