I've been playing for over 30 years and it seems to me everyone is calling this a beginner's guitar ! I have played and owned guitars that cost thousands of dollars and they can"t campare to the Taylor 12e Academy It's my go to guitar on or off stage (if I could still play on stage ), as you said it's much more , it may look simple but it's one of the best sounding and playable guitars on the market ,!!!! Love this guitar,, thanks go out to the team at Taylor Guitars !!

Nice words bro. So you recommend 12 over 10 all the way?
@Oklatucky_Guitarman7 жыл бұрын
The A12 plays like butter. I was surrounded by the best of the best Taylors at the Roadshow this year and I found myself playing this guy.

I compared the A10e and A12e and felt the A12e actually sounded less "scooped" - with more low mids and I liked it better. I mostly fingerpick and I like to play jazz, so it probably fits that style better. But I am blown away by how good of a guitar this is for the money. I have been playing for 35 years and it is not just a "beginner guitar" that's for sure.

I play a 10 and I love it, never going to get rid of the guitar. I bought it some years ago now and the tone has become deeper and brighter with a small volume increase. Word of warning though, get it set up by a guitar luthier, out of the box the frets can be sharp and the action needs work!

I ordered an A12 (no electronics) after playing one locally last week. I'll be posting some vids with it soon and was so impressed! Played just as nice as the other higher-end Taylors and sounded great, too. Like you guys said, where was this guitar when I started?! I played on a "make your fingers bleed" Washburn. Ha!

I am eyeing up this guitar as well. Have you got it yet and if so what's your verdict on it.

I like the 12, warmer and more mid-focused. The 10 is a bit jangly for me.

Wow!!! The tonal and definition of that A12 is shocking at three times the price point. What an amazing thing Andy Powers has done for aspiring guitarists on a budget!

I like the A10e more - better tonal range.

Why are these considered “beginner” guitars? For someone like me who doesn’t have a lot of expendable cash, $500-$700 is about the limit to how much I would comfortably spend on an acoustic. These guitars sound great. Perhaps they label them “beginner” guitars to make them seem less appealing, so that someone will pay more money for their more expensive lines?

Its taylors beginner line but by no means is a non serious beginner dropping 700 in one

Why is this considered a starter guitar? Because it's not $2k?
@elliespohr5 жыл бұрын
pretty much seems that way
@derrekevans23244 жыл бұрын
Size, tension of strings, distance from the fret board. Everything is designed to be easy to play where are very cheap "starter guitars" are hard to play defeating the purpose. They made it as cheap as they could to feel that great.

I'd sloting bridge, put unslotted ebony bridge pins, bone nut and intonated every string w/ bone saddle...prob already has elixir pb mids on it. Prob has lower bout relief routing I'd imagine on backside top.

Hi, one question, Taylor academy or martin X series? which do you like best?
@eohippusone2 жыл бұрын
I have a Martin X. It's OK, but I'm thinking about the Academy now. The Martin is all synthetic except for the spruce top. Fretboard is that composite material (name?) heavy, makes for neck-dip. Also, I adjust the truss rod regularly.
@lesterfalcon13506 жыл бұрын
I know the top is not a laminate, but is it a single piece? It looks to be 3 piece by the grain at 1:11

It's a 2-piece tops. Almost all guitars tops are 2-peice book matched.

Which do you prefer friend? A10 or A12??
@j.kol34914 жыл бұрын
10 for me. I have both. 12 is good if you are singing. Bolder base notes allow for more melodic vocals. The 10 is my go to for just playing. Opinions will differ dramatically though man. Try both at a local music shop if you can.
@janoks0074 жыл бұрын
Which is the diference between both? Just the body???
@TheAcousticLetter4 жыл бұрын
Yes, just the body size.

They sound totally different though. The A10 sounded like it had a "scooped' EQ with less mid range when I tried them side by side in the store. I went for the A12 myself.

Hey, I need some advice on which guitar to buy. I've been trying to narrow it down, and these guitars seem to be good options. I'm an intermediate player looking for an upgrade. So, anyway, these are the ones that I am interested in. Any advice would be appreciated. Guild D-140ce Breedlove stage dreadnought ce Blueridge BR-70CE Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE Some of these are more expensive, but I have been able to find deals on them. All are dreadnoughts with cutaways. Guitars I own currently are a Breedlove pursuit concert w. cutaway and an old art and lutherie cherry wood dreadnought
