CORRECTION: Kennedy Hall has said I "lied" about him and that it was another group he worked with, and not him, who took down his video about evolution (even though "The Kennedy Report" is in the background of it). I asked him if he still agreed with everything he said in the original video and he has not yet replied. So, I retract my statement that "to his credit, Hall took the original video down." I mistakenly commended Hall for thoughtfully reconsidering what he said in light of fair criticism. It appears I was mistaken.

Trent, you definitely have good will and you are a good man. But here are two things you got wrong: 1 - Belief in the Theory of Evolution (cite the evidence, lets take a look at it) 2 - Stating Bishop Barron is doing a good. How can a bishop who states we may reasonably hope that all people will be saved or that Christ is the priviledged way help save souls unless he first corrects himself? I would venture to say that many souls that take these two statements to heart are lost I recommend that you read books by Stephen Meyer, Michael Behe, Philip Johnson, Ann Gauger, and anybody else from Discovery Institute. One simply excellent book is "Heretic: One Scientist's Journey from Darwin to Design" by Matti Leisola. The theory of evolution (which is not based on fact, but on bad philosophy) is fundamental for Marxism in all its forms. If you want to put a dent in the devil's plan for man, read some of these books. Learn about this. See if the biochemistry or fossil record matches up with what evolutionists want us to believe. The DJ feast wasn't because of a catholic tradition, the feast is about alternative medicine, and specifically about a pagan (-ish) ritual performed by a catholic priest. I converted on Pentecost largely because I found Trent Horn and Matt Fradd’s channels. I was raised in a parallel Trad Protestant family culture of Fundies winding up rhetoric letting centrifugal mud fly off their the loose ends of their emotional and somewhat egotistical pot shots they called arguments. They obscure sincere, thoughtful and substitutive seekers. Our religious stand for righteousness needs no sensationalism, no weaponizing, no inflammatory rhetoric. Other than this thoughtful response by Trent, I only wish Kathryn Johnson was still alive to debate Marshall on the moon landing in Mathematical terms. Thank you, Trent. Who knew we’d need to be reminded to hate all Hitler represented and debate instead of throwing down!

How I realized that Taylor Marshall does not check the primary source he comments on: He released a video in a “Dear Pope Francis” children’s book. In this book, children write letters to Pope Francis and the Pope responds, the. The correspondences are published in this book. In Marshall’s video, he talks about a correspondence in which a child asks Francis about altar serving, and Francis mocks the Tridentine mass that he served as a boy. I have read that book from cover to cover and that particular correspondence that Marshall refers to is not in the book Dear Pope Francis. He must have seen it online in picture form and never bothered to check the actual book.

Dear Trent, it's not okay if you like Christian heavy metal, or Christian techno, or techno at all. These sounds that claim to be music, are melody, harmony, and rhythm in absolute disorder, and do cause immeasurable problems to a soul. You should not be saying that it's okay to enjoy these things, because it's not. In saying nonchalantly that "its standard techno music", you're shoving under the rug something that is absolutely "ordered" towards disorder and created exactly to inflame the base passions, and can only have a bad and sinful influence on a soul, and at best, help someone work out while inflaming their vanity. Not to mention that you're encouraging people by your youtube platform to listen to these disordered things. Sure the priest is using it to fund his parish, but at what cost? Not to mention dj-ing. A priest has to be a saint. This is sensuality exploded in a disordered and absolute immodest package that inflames base passions and does more than just scandalizes people. I don't know how you just nonchalantly breezed through this one in your video, but this is exactly the problem; the new church that morphed out of God's holy traditional Catholic Church, makes these new things like dancing techno-making priests, seem okay, and to seem like it's okay to it's own faithful, when it's completely not okay. One only has to read a bit of the lives of the saints and practice a bit of mental prayer to know that this priest techno package is absolutely not okay, and in good conscience we have to not accept this and at least, pray for this priest to take up serious modes of sanctifying his faithful, which is :practicing the interior life. The Saint Curé of Ars lamented the dancing of his faithful and took up hard penance to get them to convert and stop dancing. How could you have possibly skipped over this, when knowing full well that techno is aimed at exciting base passions, that women in this crowd are certainly immodestly dressed wearing tight pants revealing all form in immeasurable and offensive immodesty before the eyes of Almighty God. Like what is your thinking here? I usually never comment on youtube. I don't even go on youtube anymore but I was looking for your videos because I found that you have a great way of talking apologetics. I disagree with TM and Kennedy in relation to the COVID-19 vaccines and I especially disagree with Kennedy's young Earth creationism. But those issues are trivial compared to the problems they rightfully identify, and rail against, within the Church itself. The reality is, I would not have returned to the Church if it wasn't for Taylor Marshall's advocacy for the TLM. If it wasn't for the TLM I would still not be practicing the faith. You claim that TM's and Kennedy's opposition to bad teachings, and bad/improper behavior, in the Church is undermining the faith of Catholics and the attraction of others to the Faith...but I'm telling you that it is those bad teachings and bad/improper behavior of prelates in the Church that is the true enemy of faith within the Church. TM and Kennedy are just messengers, they are not the problem. You, Trent, often times gloss over or even defend those things in the Church which should be condemned and opposed. And that's not okay. There is simply no way to defend the DJ Priest who oversaw, what everyone in their right mind would see as, a demonic display of hedonistic imagery. You might as well make a defense of Voodoo rites and practices that culturally stem from Catholicism, because that is what you are essentially doing in defending that Priest and that whole satanically inspired display of hedonistic imagery. The fact is, I have yet to experience a Novus Ordo liturgy that is truly reverent, as we see in the TLM. And I spent years in the NO music ministry, playing piano, guitar and vocally. The NO liturgy takes the attention of worship toward God away from God, and directs a measure of that attention toward the people involved in the liturgy. Which seems to be a valid uninspired interpretation of Vatican 2 when the council wrote the following in Gaudium et spes, "According to the almost unanimous opinion of believers and unbelievers alike, all things on earth should be related to man as their center and crown." What? Anyone who is indwelt with the Holy Spirit knows that "all things on earth should be" directed toward God as our "center and crown." It's amazing that this sentence got put into a council document, whereby it can be so easily misinterpreted to the detriment of faith in God. In fact, the entire Gaudium et spes document is man centric (as admitted to by this excerpt, "Hence the focal point of our total presentation will be man himself, whole and entire,...") and its concepts and theology underlies many of the things Pope Francis does. Including his pursuit of destroying contemplative orders and any Catholic that try to dedicate themselves to matters of spiritualism, prayer, charity and Godly obedience, and not things of a worldly nature. This is also a motivating factor in his opposition to the TLM, which seeks proper reverence toward God as to not direct our worship toward people, as the NO liturgy does through the manifestations of Vatican 2 teachings. Knowing and appreciating the errors of how Vatican 2 was interpreted, in almost complete disregard for Church tradition, is key to understanding why the Church is manifesting people like Francis in the magisterium. This is the major problem that is affecting the Church, not Taylor Marshall or Kennedy's relatively miniscule missteps in a small area of their ministries.

I know many traditionalist priests (icksp, sspx, etc) have all said that American catholics, whether liberal, traditionalist or in the middle are fundamentally different from catholics everywhere else and i have to agree. Of course not every single person would fall into this category but ive seen so many from both sides be so sensationalist and make mountains out of molehills, whilst us in Europe look in confusion. I'm not sure if it's the protestant founding of the US but it seems even amongst the most traditional American catholics there's this odd rejection of authority and a sort of revolutionary spirit which seems fitting more of masonic founding fathers rather than Catholics. As someone who has never attended a Novus Ordo in my life and only gone to the TLM, I can see there's a clear difference across the Atlantic, and yea i think it would do good for some of these people to stop being so reactionary to every single thing.

Englander Michael Haynes has written "Catechism of Errors" to denounce the Catechism of the Catholic Church and I am grateful for his putting such arguments in print. He denounces the Vatican II council, the catechism, and the revision of canon law which have almost insidiously changed the whole substance of the Church. I wonder where the faithful bishops are, who have not objected to all the really awful things that have gone on in the last 60 years. It is also an obstacle to have to spend an hour or more listening to these drawn out arguments by some of the more popular reactionaries.

Unless His Holiness has made his motives known to you and you alone, that's speculating on the state of his soul - which is a sin. And a grave one at that. This is exactly what "Judge not lest ye be judged" is referring to. His actions certainly seem to have evil consequences (i.e. TC) but these can easily be explained by incompetence or His Holiness being manipulated by bad actors. Certainly we can say "x action was evil". But the moment you say "this person is evil", you've made a judgement as to the state of their soul - which again, is a grave sin (and would be mortal with full knowledge and consent of the will - but only you know that, so I won't speculate on whether it was mortal in your case). Even when there is something like a Lenten “retreat” and a visiting priest makes a special time for hearing confessions. And nearly all people attending the Holy Mass go and accept the Holy Communion. I don’t speak Japanese, so I have to make a special appointment with a priest speaking English in order to go and make a confession. I started listening to Taylor and then I would go to the Holy Mass and immediately start critiquing everything. This was so WRONG of me. I think the answer is somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. The truth is, it is OK to offer rightful criticism of irreverence when it happens, such as the guitars, or less than solemn approaches that some churches have in their Masses, but the important thing is, this does not make them invalid. Criticizing these irreverent elements, however, does not amount to a criticism of the Novus Ordo itself, because the Novus Ordo itself when done in the way it was intended, is not irreverent, rather the way it is being done by those who abuse it is the problem, put simply, it is user error.

Kennedy got that stuff about Luther from a guy called Lloyd de Jongh. Who's fluent in German and has researched Luther to a great extent. All of Lloyd's sources are available online and he has some incredible videos on his own KZbin channel. I'm not a big fan of Kennedy but I do support Lloyd and they have done some collaboration videos. Which is actually just Lloyd lecturing Kennedy and would be just as informative without Kennedy's limited input. But Lloyd only has about 12k followers and is trying to grow his channel through larger channels. Trent should have him on. And Pints.

I think Dr Marshall and Kennedy are doing overall good work and I think it's good to challenge them to improve where they have made mistakes in their presentations, but I think it's good that at least someone is pushing for traditional Catholic views in a popular sphere. It would be good if we had more SSPX minded people doing things like this and right now the SSPX podcast is the best resource, but I'm not really aware of anyone who reaches as wide an audience as Dr Marshall does.

I appreciate the comment in the intro about loving reverent Novus Ordo Mass'. I am still relatively knew to the Catholic Church. I came from the praise & worship Southern Baptist Services. I have been to the same sort of feel Catholic Mass' as well. There is a much bigger diffference in a reverent Norvus Ordo and "Praise & Worship" Norvus Ordo. I dont know Latin I am not familiar with Latin. I think it's possible that Kennedy didn't deliver the points in a way that atheists would appreciate, but from a catholic point of view *indeed* why should we care what they think? This was the view of the church for centuries (young earth creationism or something like it) and supported by nearly all the fathers. Atheists will just blow this off but why should I care when scientific theories also change after 5 to 50 years anyhow? Our beliefs aren't necessarily more self-referential than materialist atheist ones. Rationality Rules believes it ok to genocide unborn babies. So who cares what he thinks... Traditional is based upon liturgical opinion. We in no way deny that the new forms are invalid, which would be sedevacantism, but that for the Church to grow and reach its former greatness, it needs to move towards the older and more reverent forms of Her rites.

The problem is, there are people who are already Catholic-whom maybe were thinking of coming back-and people who are not Catholic-whom maybe were thinking about converting-that come across Taylor Marshall‘s videos and decide to leave. They decide not to convert. They’re causing more harm than good. I was that person, I had left the Church for Judaism 10 years ago, and then I had a conversion and came back. Brought my husband with me, a fallen away Catholic too. I came back, and when watching videos, I started seeing all these rad trads and listening to what they were saying. I almost did not stay. I almost left again, because I said, “if what Taylor Marshall is saying is true, then that means this is not the True Church. What’s the point in coming back?” And tons of people say this exact same thing. If it weren’t for Trent Horn, Fr. Mike Schmitz, Bishop Barron, and Michael Lofton, I would’ve converted to Judaism with no regrets. They all snapped me out of that despair I felt. It’s real. It needs to be talked about!

I agree some of these are really bad looks, but I think you’re wrong on a couple points. 1. The priest who performed this concert was committing the sin of sacrilege by turning the holy names and holy prayers into a modern spectacle. Sacrilege, like all sins, is demonic. Doing evil things for good ends, like this kind of sacrilege for the sake of funding one’s parish, is not licit, as that would be a consequentialist argument. His behavior shows an extreme lack of reverence for these things. Jesus is not your buddy, Mary is not your hip aunt, Jesus is our King and Mary is our Queen. 2. Kanye is a non catholic common person, who has many good excuses for his ignorance. Priests, who are supposed to have learned right from wrong in seminary, and bishops who have an obligation to understand the law of God and the law of His Church, do not have this excuse. This is why we treat someone like Kanye more charitably than someone like Fr. James Martin. 3. Your stance on evolution is simply wrong. Death did not enter the world until the fall of man, and the entire premise of evolution/old earth creationism is that uncountable numbers of animals died before the existence of humans in the process of natural selection. Even if we ignore this glaring issue, arguing God used natural selection suggests God allowed the evil of animal death to arrive at the good of the existence of modern animals, when he could’ve simply created the modern animals in an instant without the evil of the suffering of the animals. I don’t see a good argument as to why the permission of animal death brought about some greater good that ultimately glorifies God the way His permission of human evil does, since animals cannot be moral and therefor lack the ability to forgive evil, for example. 4. A porn ban is perfectly possible, simply by attacking those that produce and host it. 5. You may not blindly follow “The Science (TM)” but you do follow a certain system of science without much criticism. The evidence of the old earth is very brittle, as the methods of carbon dating we use are unreliable at best, and completely worthless at worst. Theres a good SSPX article “The Devolution of Evolution”, that breaks down many of the theological and scientific issues with the theory. I think you are generally good, Trent, despite the fact that I’m sure we both have wildly different opinions on the Novus Ordo and many big theological questions. I dont think you are being disingenuous, I just think you are wrong about some things here.

@@janeyount8412 Yes, I did. That is an old superstitious practice and should not be encouraged in Catholicism. Demons are real and the Church has real remedies to assist in keeping them away. The Sacraments, Prayer,avoiding sin and it's near occasion, going to confession and being properly disposed when receiving Holy Communion are the best ways, also using sacramentals, and if need be, an exorcism. A priest should not be a DJ, he should be focused on the matters of the faith 100%. Instead of performing he should be spending more time in the confessional like Padre PIO or St. John Vianny, or teaching orthodox catechesis, to his flock. Holy Orders for Holy Works.

That said, I think it fair to call out Kennedy Hall and Taylor Marshall for what they presently are: A. Schismatics in their participation with the SSPX. B. Not traditionalist Catholics, since (1) to be Catholic is to be in communion with the Bishop of Rome through one's local bishop, therefore (2) their schism disqualifies them for identification as Catholic. C. Rather, for me they are 'Pope Kennedy' and 'Pope Taylor' who in their rash judgment appoint themselves to the position of highest authority to judge over the Catholic Church. Not without historical precedent, Martin Luther was referred to as the 'Pope of Wittenburg' and John Calvin was referred to as the 'Pope of Geneva.'

This video is a weird feeling for me. Spot on with the criticisms. But honestly, TM was one of the major reasons in me coming into the faith. He was the first and only person that I ever really heard say we NEED to pray the rosary. I have heard it brought up in passing in groups occasionally or a priest mention that its ok to but that's about it. I would even say that I am blessed to be apart of the Diocese of Wichita, KS, which is fairly orthodox and we have good numbers of vocations every year. To me, before I started really digging into the faith (converted from Baptist), it seemed like most Catholics I met or listened to either tried to take the faith to such an abstract concept it became practically useless, or they appeared to not really care and were advocating for all sorts of craziness within the Mass and within Church doctrine. Taylor Marshall had a way of putting the impetus of salvation into my court. It seemed non-sensical that we must only go to confession once a year (as taught by the Magesterium) or that the Mass was there as a big koombya fest that was what some Catholics were telling me. He made the Faith real, and provided a real call to action regarding taking the faith seriously, as well as taking devotion to the Blessed Mother seriously. For those reasons I will forever be in his debt. He provided the shove that allowed the Holy Spirit to work in my heart and opened the doors to his Church to me.

How was Kennedy Hall wrong about the Big Bang? He's just arguing pointing out the paradox the Big Bang creates. Either matter predates the big bang which makes it irrelevant because then it cant be the absolute beginning or the big bang happened in a void without any matter that could ignite or any sort of a catalyst to cause the ignition for no reason, somehow. The atheist guys just say, "OH MUH SCIENCE, There was no atoms when the big bang happened!" Instead of providing any evidence to explain 1) How that's even possible, 2)If it did happen that, way how we can definitely know exactly how it happened billions of years later. They can't do that because they don't know, instead they had to go with a gotcha "YOOOOO it was a CATHOLIC PRIEST that came up with the idea a CATHOLIC PRIEST DOOD!!!!!!!!". These two atheists didn't do research themselves, they're putting their faith in a book written by someone else, which I'm sure they condemn us when we put our faith in a book. Our modern science can't definitely figure out how humanity was able to stack rocks 3000 years ago, but they have somehow, by looking through telescopes, decisively definitively figured out exactly how everything spawned into existence and exploded billions of years ago. No. Not too long ago, we had a NASA scientist try to pass off a picture of a slice of sausage as a picture of the sun. Science has been wrong so many times, these people make so many mistakes, even with stuff contemporary to our time. I don't understand why anyone trusts scientists to be right about the Big Bang unless you're presupposing that God isn't real and this is your "Science of the Gaps"

i saw a video on a traditionalist you tube channel called “The Irrelevance of the Novus Ordo”… I converted in 2020 thanks nearly 200 percent to your book, Mr Horn, as well as to my very reverent novus ordo parish. That video title and the mean remarks it engendered upset me a good deal, and after praying, decided not to follow the channel any longer so as to avoid the near occasion of sin (anger). I think some more vulnerable souls might even question their faith after reading such a title.

As someone who is a “trad” (personally don’t like the labels, I find this to be a very fair critique of online trads. Hopefully it’s comforting to hear that on the ground level, many many of us don’t take these online characters seriously. There are far better online voices like Tim Flanders for example, and even Avoiding Babylon (I enjoyed your episode on there, btw). Hopefully, more legitimate dialogue can happen between those more of your bent and the “trad” side of things. Bottom line, if we both believe the Catholic faith and are trying to become saints, in my mind, we’re on the same team.

I love listening to Taylor Marshall and many others. I understand when one has truth it doesn't mind being questioned or challenged. To not try to see if questions are valid is not truth or faith it is an emotional response and any emotional response doesn't use logic or reasoning because your prefrontal cortex isn't used. It is statistically impossible to always be right or always wrong. I applaud them trying to promote a change internally in the church instead of leaving it. Why is TLM mass being condemned? How is it a bad thing? No one can tell me why TLM mass is wrong and bad? Is it okay to cut off apart of the body of Christ?
