I named my daughter Lucia after Saint Lucy because when I was in college I almost lost my eye and my mom did a novena to Saint Lucy and I was healed thank God! I think the real miracle was my conversion. I went from not going to mass even on Sundays to praying the rosary daily! Please do more videos about the saints I love listening to their stories!

Ireland was recently Catholic until a couple of years ago the wolves in sheep’s clothing and the secular society voted in abortion its getting bad for them there. We must pray for the faithful there 🙏🏼♥️🕊 also we must never lose hope. God said when things seem lost and the church practically gone that he will return and restore the life and faith in The church.

During my journey to Catholicism, one of the first books I downloaded into my Kindle was Butler's Lives of the Saints. What a conversion tool! I was a Protestant until I came into the Church during Easter Vigil 2018. I am now a Catholoc seasoned citizen at age seventy five. I have so learned so much about the Church from listening to you. I really enjoyed your podcast about St. Lucy. Karen G.

Thanks for reminding me of the ember days. I am a convert from Japan and I found out that Tempura ( fried fish and vegetables) actually came from the Ember days ( Quattuor Temporum ) . The Spanish and Portuguese missionaries asked the Japanese to make them something that did not include meat. So I eat tempura on some of the ember days to remember the missionaries that brought Catholicism to Japan.

We celebrate the saints' days for all of our children. One of my daughters, Lucia, is named after St. Lucy, and she truly is a light in our lives. She has always LOVED this feast day. With a summer birthday, she could never bring treats to school for her birthday, so she would bring St. Lucy treats! Things got a little tricky when her baby brother was born on Dec. 13, but she has been generous to share "her" special day with him :-) St. Lucy, saint of light, pray for us!

My grandmother taught me as a child the story of Lucy's eyes. The legend is that her suitor tried to convince Lucy to marry him, saying she was beautiful and had magnificent eyes. So Lucy said to him that if he liked her eyes so much she could have them and she plucked out her eyes and gave them to him, but God miraculously restored another pair of eyes to her.

We read today that Santa Lucia is depicted by a wreath of candles on her head as she would visit the catacombs in Rome to pray for the martyrs and the candles would light her way. Beautiful! At St.Bernard's Catholic Grade School in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania I was taught the song Santa Lucia and loved when we all sang together with Sister Mary, from the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Mother House in Baden, Pennsylvania.

Dear Dr. Marshall, I never knew about St.Lucy. I watched your podcast yesterday. I listened to 🌹Ava Maria for a good night's sleep. I had a dream that took me back to a real life event that had transpired in my sweet teenage year's. I was with a boyfriend & I put my arm & hand out & said No, I can't do this. I want to clean my act up. I felt super strong & empowered. I have had so many spiritual experience's when I pray to the 🌹 Saint's, Mother Mary & listen to Ava Maria that I could of never of amagined. I had to write & thank you. 🌲 Merry Christmas! 🐬 Susan Marcile

Thankyou Dr Marshall...🙏 Truly enjoyed this enlightened messeage as opposed to this radical disappointing pope, whom my entire family feel disassociated & abandoned... My grandmother had many convicted stories of our Saints & told them w/reverence....Naun possessed a feisty spirit-- a servant to our Lord, a marvelous cook, (to which we owe tradition); a ballroom dancer & a very lucky poker gal.(her only vice)....She was not one to squabble w/over punishments either...🙄 Our Lord blessed her with 104 yrs of good health... Yes, we miss her....your message today completed her absence.. Thankyou..🙏🙏🙏

One legend about St Lucy is that the young man who wanted her loved her beautiful eyes, so she gouged out her eyes and offered them to him in the hope that he would leave her alone.

White gown for purity with red sash for martyrdom, candle wreath on head lighting up the darkness. She can also bring a traditional bun to her family members in bed early morning when still dark. We had battery operated candles for our head wreath and even made the saffron biscuits. We read about st. Lucy today and colored some sheets too. A fun Advent tradition to remind kiddos to let their light of Jesus shine for all to see and know salvation.

I remember reading that a man looked at St. Lucy in a sinful manner and God struck him blind. I also remember reading that St. Agatha appeared to St. Lucy and told her that she-Lucy- was chosen for such holiness that she didn't need to pray to St. Agatha for her mother's cure. Lucy, herself, was so powerful with God that she could ask for the cure by her own merits, since she herself would soon become the city's great virgin and martyr.

They learn and share the lives of the Saints like you would any other story. It’s also the way manners, the faith and good judgement is taught to children. I remember so many of those stories my mother would tell us before going to bed about not pointing at people, the devil’s deceit etc. my grandfather taught them to my mother and so on. 😇😇😇
