Congrats Ellen! I remember you 20 years ago and how much you struggled. I loved your humor and owned one of your first books which I often tried to share with others. You REALLY were one of the main reasons there was a shift in society to accept people who are gay. I have been inspired by you on SO many levels even though I am not gay. You inspired me to not be afraid to be open in public about my gay friends. I have been the type of person who have always saw people for who they were. I didn't see people as having titles. I chose my friends based on their personality and character. In jr high and high school in the 90's I had gay friends and often got made fun of for it. I even had rumors spread that I was gay. Ellen you gave me strength to not care what others thought. I was proud to have my awesome friends no matter what religious preference, race, sexual preference etc. You have touched soooo many lives for so many reasons. You teach people to keep being who they are and that is the most amazing message I get from you! Oprah says it perfectly in this video... it is shocking when you speak your truth and find that there is hatred and how easy we can misread that everybody is like us...open minded, receptive etc. .... just keep being the authentic you and speak the truth and you WILL be rewarded. It's hard to listen to Ellen talk about how she was bullied and made the butt of every joke. I remember her going through that. I am so happy that changed for her. I loved Ellen back then and still love her today! I encourage people to see past what intimidates them and embrace a person for who they are. It really does take a lot of courage for us to speak up. Thank you Ellen for inspiring millions and millions of people to be themselves.

Assuming either is drunk or high is stupid. Ever see Kate McKinnon’s first appearance on Ellen? She was nervous af but made it clear why - Ellen was a big influence on her, as a comic and probably for leading the was for being able to be openly lesbian. Ellen commands a great deal of respect & has been in show biz a while; this alone can make the most confident actor nervous. As for Ellen contributing to the awkwardness - Ellen’s shown time & again she’s still a comic first - making this more awkward probably amused her, I thought it was funny. Besides, talk shows can be easily repetitive if the interviews are routine. Weird is good in my book.
