Pardon me, Ms. Rose...I just finished rewatching the MGK/Megan Fox vid, and now wonder if you’ve watched/reviewed the MGK/Megan Fox movie yet...I’ve seen one review of it, and it’s seems to be as nonsensical and insufferable as advertised...I am VERY interested if you will be able to pull comedy out of that dud. It’s a stoner movie released in a world where weed is legal in most places, and it seems like no one involved with the movie actually knows how weed affects people...the whole movie evolved from a typo and several blunts. I really like watching reviews of some movies rather than watching the actual movie...it was a pleasant day when I discovered reaction/commentary youtubers,

Hey! My point was that even if he was ostensibly "joking" or "not serious" that the things he said indicated at the very minimum an internal bias. Sorry I didn't convey this better, I was attempting to say that I was "forced" to believe he held those biases at the very least.

as a lifelong fan it was really hard to come to terms with the fact that she wrote "epiphany" (which is ab hope in the middle of a pandemic) and then went to tour all over the world in these superspreader events. considering the situation with her mom's health I figured she'd be _the_ celebrity to show solidarity for medically vulnerable people. but turns out she just has rich people methods of keeping _her_ and _her_ family safe but implementing pandemic safety for her fans at her events is just "too political" now. as a queer person I trust her allyship because of the actual political activism she's done, but I don't trust her allyship anywhere else really.

@ho-sette i nearly cried when i read ur comment casually with my mindset as a disabled person living in ‘covid doesn’t exist’ hell. I always feel alone. The worst part is there is no way to have these events safely- in crowds as big as even half the current size they couldn’t ensure proper masking, ventilation, spacing. It’s impossible without extensive money spent and that will never happen. Even outdoor events are superspreader events because people are squished together unmasked, there is no testing culture anymore and infection tracing is non existant. I saw so many people posting about that fucking tour, living life like it’s an alternate dimension, and I hated them and her more than ever. And i’ve never felt too strongly about her, besides her being a billionaire.

@@caseymarie292 YEP YEP YEP. I've been teetering back in forth in sheer insanity since the m*ndates ended early 2022 and the c d c changed that stupid freaking map (having to censor random sht bc this comment literally wasn't visible! fun!). having screaming matches with my parents, getting ignored by everyone I know on social media bc I was the girl who just wouldn't stfu about c*vid. I've lived in so many places all over the world accumulating many friends from many different walks of life, mostly progressive liberal/left-leaning. not a single one has reached out, not a single one liking my posts, it even got to the point where I would frequently change my pfp to the old transmission maps that reflected current reality and slowly one by one the likes eventually got to 0. the ONLY public outing I've been to since that time (including even going to the store, I eventually just ended up making only my bf do that) was the eras tour in my area and it was awful. I kept my flo mask on the entire time and was dehydrated and overwhelmed. the bf and I did neti pots and CPC mouthwash for a week after fully knowing the risk we put ourselves in. I literally have not been in public since, and recently the last friend I had on this earth scolded me for not going to her wedding even though I had told her that concert friggn knocked me out (I'm autistic and have POTS) for months and I just couldn't risk going on a plane, go to her mask less wedding, go on a plane AGAIN, and now another lifelong friendship gone. I feel so alone. solidarity homie. to anyone else reading this, put on an N95 or better in public. the p*ndemic is not over and you have been tricked. I wish more breadtubers would talk ab this too. or any popular leftist who claims to care about disability issues. it's not too late to change your habits. this article "Let Them Eat Plague" by Comrade Dremel from Unity-Struggle-Unity is the best I've found so far and basically explains everything.

This sub-comment section is such a breath of fresh air :') It's horrible the situation disabled (and just considerate) people have been but though, trying to navigate maintaining social connections, work, and mental stability amongst a society that just pretends that if we stop testing and using PPE the problem will just go away. It's just shown me that even if a lot of people say they care, their care doesn't extend far enough to actually take action.

I sold my eras tickets after the matty healy aftermath exposed just how vague taylor's politics are. The person who bought my tickets is a pray the gay away counselor who works with children. The situation really cemented what taylor swift represents to her fans and ive never been able to look past the disgust since. I saw a tiktok video at the time that said something along the lines of "homophobes and transphobes can be comfortable at her concerts" even though she is this supposed LGBTQIA+ ally who gets praise for it all the time. I have no doubt taylor is pro-woman, but i cant be so sure she would be if the woman in question was trans or had melanated skin

Taylor Swift has always left a bad taste in my mouth... I cant say why but after 'You need to calm down' there was a bunch of stuff about how she never let Queer people actually speak. It made me realise she was like the girls in my school that where all for queerness when that queer was a spectacle when it was the boys in drama sharing lipstick. But when I came out suddenly they didn't want to talk to me. She reminds me of the girls that would 'come out' for the clout, to go to Pride and where glitter and get drunk but not learn the actual history,,, quoting 'the first pride was a riot' and 'be gay do crime' whilst not actually doing anything about why those phrases are important. Now,,, I have since learnt that everyone's experience with the queer experience is different and how I interact with the community can be wildly different to other people, those girls were lovely people and we were teenagers experimenting.... It seems to me that Taylor Swift only looks at the surface level of everything and doesn't dive deep into any of it to learn why its important. And by not even admitting that it causes a large issue in her fanbase. Its the political cartoon where the centrist asks the leftist if a little murder is okay to appease the right . She would never say that publically... but privately who knows.

I didn’t have tickets to the eras tour but after she dated matty healy I stopped listening to her music. This may be a hot take, but her feminism sometimes feels disingenuous. Some people seem to use feminism to not take accountability for some of their actions and to get the spotlight off themselves. Taylor is a victim of sexism no doubt but her feminism feels very vapid and just another way to market herself. She's never on the cutting edge of issues and waits until it becomes popular/accepted enough to talk about. She never takes political risks like other artists do. She follows what is popular at the time. Now that anti gay and trans rhetoric is making a comeback, she is staying quiet on the issue and I'm not surprised. Your story very much lines up with this pattern.

was a huge swiftie since rep era, but i currently stopped liking her due to: • using a qwoc as a weapon to prove that she isn’t complicit with matty. • mostly blames criticisms on her on misogyny • bad blood lore. iyk the story behind BB, she legit made something out of nothing • yt feminism / fake feminism and before anyone says “u have a lana pfp u cant be talm” ME!, a qwoc here’s my take: the difference between lana and taylor’s problematic actions is that lana fr is just not very bright when it comes to social problems (that’s why i prefer celebs to not speak on something they’re not that much informed about, they’re entertainers, not activists) but taylor’s actions are very calculated which makes it worse to me. lana is j tone deaf af but i don’t think she does anything out of malice, now taylor… idk wtf her motive is atp. lana is fr tryna do good she’s just rlly bad at it. taylor is purposely not trying.

i’ve been a 1975 fan since their inception in 2013, and they’re also how i met my partner of almost a decade now. i’ve also been a swiftie since 2008. miraculously, i am now an anarchist. these three circles have very little overlap, and it’s forced me to recon with my beliefs many times. matty’s decent into this arc has been simmering for years, and it wasn’t surprising to see what happened. it’s sad seeing someone who openly struggled with addiction and almost die multiple times get clean, then turn into who he is now. with taylor, it’s painful to watch her cringe liberalism. i’ve come to the idea of “but what do i expect from these people, you can’t get to this level of fame without many moral concessions”. they harness enormous power, but they didn’t get there without taking that power from others who helped them. there are exceptions to this, plenty of celebs/athletes/musicians with a strong compass, and routinely have shown they want the best of things. but most are just entertainers, they’re not people to look to for grandstanding. tldr, very very well put video (not surprising) sincerely a former 1975 groupie, lifelong swiftie, and current anarchist

It was a satire podcast for one, so taking anything they said verbatim is a mistake and can’t be taken seriously. However due to all the hate and backlash taking it out of context and blowing it out of proportion, the hosts themselves made a video clarifying that they specifically made that part up and chose it as a joke because the name was catchy. I wonder if Matty Healy appealed to Taylor because he is unabashedly unfiltered. Everything she says and does is carefully scrutinized and calculated, so maybe his uncouth statements were a refreshing change for her. I'm not saying that's a good thing. He's trash and it's all an act, just as much as hers is. If she craves freedom, she needs to knock down a few of her own walls and let go of her own perfectionism to live a little.

To me, it seems like she was forced to grow up in an industry from a very young age, and so she always craved attention or the feeling of being wanted (which is why she loves love so much) and also she had just gotten out of a 6 year relationship where the guy wanted to keep things very quiet and private and she wanted to be more (the star of stars) and since she was so like seculided in one relationship, she wanted to create scandal or attention or something when she was out of it, she wanted to feel that ‘high’ of the relationship, it is a very immature feeling, but it seems that she craves control. And she wants to ‘fix’ people so maybe that’s why she chose matty (plus they had many industry relations). It is a very immature feeling, but I don’t necessarily think she’s a bad person for it, I just think she has some personal issues she needs to resolve when it comes to her needs and attention-craving. It comes from growing up precocious, you feel like you had to mature so quickly that you act immature later on in life to make up for that (and I think this is related to some of the experiences she sings about in her earlier albums and she experienced in her early 20s and late teens)

i spent much of high school on dirty hit (record label heavily associated w matty) stan twitter (i’m not ok.) i’ve been well aware of matty’s persona for like seven years now and it’s always confused me. he tries to be edgy but whenever the backlash is too much, he’ll just delete his social media. no backbone on the man at all despite how edgy he tries to seem. perhaps his most annoying offense was when he wrote an entire paragraph explaining why he doesn’t need to credit a photographer. but up until the podcast episode, many of his “problematic” actions could be attributed to ignorance from being a nepo baby that’s older than most of his audience and therefore not as socially aware/“politically correct” as they are. or just not thinking ahead when he does stuff, like both of the gay kiss controversies. either way, the constant controversies got so exhausting that i gave up on following him around four years ago, and i think many fans feel the same way

@@InaneBlatherPodcast I'm not surprised she feels that way about her art and work. That cycle of feelings is all too familiar for me. To the point where I can't even be like, "No Ro! You're incorrect this is amazing!" While the work IS in nearly every category immaculate, that's not really how the mindset works. It's a filter sewed into the artist's brain. Unless you could go in DOOM style and rip it out then not much can be done through an outsiders intention. They can't change what's not in their domain, and even when it is your domain, you can't will that thinking process out intentionally. That said, HOLY FUCK THE WORK IS SO GOOD. Not even in the, "by industry standards," way, but in the innovative way. The 20 minute intros (exaggeration) are like nothing I've ever seen or will see again. Feeling this eruption of creative spoken lyricism is riveting. The roast sessions are also just funny. Then the humility that Ro has in clearly acknowledging their place in the world as a creator and person over and over again is actively anti-parasocial. It makes me, the audience member, smarter. It makes me wiser to be able to identify something that other creators either don't realize exists or actively bank on. Logically Ro just does great work.

My issue with the Healy-Swift relationship as a Swiftie (aside from it just being f*cking gross what Healy said), was how Taylor then did a collab with Ice Spice but didn't speak out publicly against Healy. In fact, her working with Ice Spice - I believe - was meant to reflect positively on Healy. Keep in mind, Taylor hasn't done many collabs until her re-releases. But this song was on a brand new album. And she was already promoting - or about to promote - her next project so it made no sense to release a music video for her last one. And not only does she do very little collabs, she has only collabed with two other black artists on her own music that were already super famous in their own right. With all that being said, her working with Ice Spice really felt - to me - like they were using Ice Spice to save Taylor's (and I'd bet Healy's) public reputations. While it is beneficial to Ice Spice to work with Taylor, it didn't make any sense to me from a purely brand perspective. Their music is so unrelated. I really couldn't get past the feeling that this young black woman who is new to the industry was being used, and she didn't really have the choice to say no, even if she may have been uncomfortable with it. I just, it seems innocuous, but it feels "icky." That's the best I can describe it, and with many of her other controversies, I just couldn't do it anymore. I'd been a hardcore Swiftie since 2007/08, but this was too much for me

first off it was never confirmed they were dating the evidence was very lackluster. After all the stuff came out about matty healy it was quickly over if it was something in the first place. They dated supposedly for like two weeks. I understand exactly what you mean with the ice spice stuff and i can see why youu feel that way. Iwould like to let you know that ice spice asked for the collab she has been a fan for a very long time and so she asked her team and they made one. Also the timing does not line up it actually takes time to make a new song and for a song to be made and released with other songs and a music video in it a like months notice is not possible. I mean taylor and ice spice are friends and they clearly have a great time together and ice spice talks about how she can always talk to her and stuff that’s not something a person who was using you to look good would just do privately. Also for someone e her size she is one of the most in problematic celebs like she has had some stuff but they are always small and typically dumb.

@@Mariii_30111 I'll speak to the part of this I have experience with: I'm a musician who's been in-studio. If you have the resources and everyone knows what they're doing, it is possible to get a song out in a day. Especially since Ice Spice was brought onto an already existing song and Taylor is worth millions, they could have gotten the new version of "Karma" out in a week, tops. The music video I'll give you, though. With the amount of special effects, it would have probably taken at least a month, if not longer depending on how many editors her team hired. But all that being said, even if she didn't date him (for long), Taylor was still publicly associated with this man who stated he touched himself to videos of black women being brutalized, and yet she did not speak against him. Even if she's not condoning his behavior outright, her silence still speaks volumes. At least to me as someone who is black but light-skinned and white-passing, so I do know the effect that privilege gives... Maybe not the extent that Taylor enjoys privilege, but I do still know from experience. However, I also know that if I were in the same position and I said nothing, that would be extremely harmful to my family who are not white passing like me. I guess my point is: in my opinion, Taylor has too much privilege to stay silent and have that mean nothing. Her silence speaks volumes. I agree it's not "fair" to put that on any one individual, but unfortunately, it is still true.

i agree with a lot with what your saying but let’s not infantilize ice spice by saying she couldn’t have said no to taylor if she wanted to because like… she definitely could have. she has shown herself to be a smart and business savvy woman and acting like she was under taylor’s thumb for this collab is silly and condescending.
@n.j.5044
@n.j.5044 9 ай бұрын
@@pinkmenace2452 I'm not trying to deny that Ice Spice is business savvy. But it's important to think about who's asking you for something. Coercion is a bitch. Ice Spice is new to the industry - compared to Taylor - and Taylor is one of the biggest artists of this generation. So let's say hypothetically - not that this was the case, but just imagine - she had wanted to say "no" to Taylor. I'm personally certain Ice Spice's team would have been vehemently against that. Let alone if Taylor wanted her, she could have done whatever she wanted to get her. Not saying she wanted to, but had Ice Spice wanted to say no, it would've become a huge issue for her. And that situation does not sit right with me. That's where the "icky feeling" comes from, and that's what I don't like. You don't have to agree, but Ice Spice was put between a rock and a hard place had she wanted to say "no." And a scenario like that does not sit right with me. You should be able to say no without consequences like that.

wait why did i like Ro calling me a little gay boy :/ ETA: after watching this video this comment no longer seems appropriate without also addressing the horrific situation discussed. it's insane how we can't have some sort of basic labor protections and pro bono and mandatory legal consultation provided to sex workers / adult actors. we always hide behind the excuse for what we watch, "oh well they consented." "the performer signed a contract" or whatever. when actually the water is a LOT muddier on knowing how and under what circumstances such "consent" was obtained. i agree with Ro that the best way to ensure ethical participation is to directly pay a person who seems to be the owner and creator of their own adult content. but it's so fucking disgusting to think that a good amount of content available on the "main sites" let alone niche disgusting exploitation sites that should probably be illegal or at least very highly regulated, does NOT in fact have reasonable consent from its performers, because they were not informed about what was going to happen.

I'm the same age and gender as Taylor Swift (love to dox myself) and no matter how hard I try I absolutely can not understand the fanatical devotion she evokes. I don't mean that I don't like her music, though I don't, I mean I can't understand the appeal. For example, I'm not a huge Beyoncé fan either, but her showmanship, bold artistic direction, and huge selection of danceable hits absolutely explains her fame. Taylor's aesthetic is the opposite in my view, it's popstar-anti-popstar, it's understated in a way that celebrates averageness, its flannel and fast fashion sequins dresses. I don't understand how that appeals to so many people and causes such feverish exaltation. This sort of celebration of averageness seems inherently incompatible with the aspirational nature of celebrity and pop music. Even Billie Eilish wears Balenciaga, you know what I mean? Clearly, Swift's great parade of the ordinary is not at odds with celebritydom, but for myself, i find it baffling. I do think a great deal about what it means that so many women, from such a diverse age range (though not a great cultural diversity) are buying into this "normie as an ideal" marketing.

Language is a gift, and the way you unwrap it is unique. I'm outside the age range target for the Swift conversation, but you grabbed me with the JKR stuff, and it feels like a similar conversation... except Swift may not be stupid enough to say anything.
