Also remember that the “boy” was a 30 year old man who was treating his daughter pretty terribly. That’s why that line hits so hard. It’s like her dad is gently reminding her that she’s still young and life should be fun.

Someone else pointed out that her repeating the phrases “I was there” and “I remember it”, especially at the end as the song fades out also shines light on his extreme gaslighting. It’s as if she’s having to constantly remind herself it really happened the way she remembers it vs how he probably tries to convince her it happened

The song was always originally 10 minutes. But she had to shorten it for the album it was on. And her fans always knew the ten minute version existed, so when she did her re recording of Red she included the ten minute version of the song and blew everyone’s mind. Also, she wrote and directed this video. As she’s done with like almost all of her recent videos

The reason her very personal and specific lyrics are relatable to so many other people, I believe, is because they’re relatable enough to be able to apply your OWN specific pieces that can equate to the same _feeling_ her lyrics are giving. The situations are specific, but the emotions behind them are what people relate to. Like people say, Taylor Swift has written a song for you. Whether you like her or love her or hate her, doesn’t matter. You have experienced something in life that there is a Taylor swift song you can feel like was specifically written about you personally. It exists. You just have to find it.

during the argument - i hope ali told you that a lot of it was improv! it was supposed to cut sooner that it did but taylor loved the actors chemistry so she kept the camera rolling. i think it’s also super important to acknowledge there was a huge age difference with taylor and jake just like with her and john mayer that made the whole fight scene (the entire relationship really) even harder to watch because of the obvious power imbalance :( also love the lil bit of relationship advice thrown in there for free thanks ya’ll haha

The thing that drives me crazy is that Sadie was wearing a promise ring before that one scene (“That’s how babies are made, hope they’re married!” was hilarious), and then not after. And THEN he drops the, “If we were closer in age…” bomb. Like…dude. Are you for real right now? You knew her age when you got together! You knew it when you took that from her. And with the pen and newspaper, it looked to me like they were finding a home together. Like he’d led her to believe it really was forever, which is the only reason I can think that she would give up that promise ring for him. And then he didn’t even have the courtesy to go to her 21st birthday party… (“The Moment I Knew” describes that in more depth.) Seriously, he was almost 50% older than her (21 vs 30)… It was his responsibility to be sure before doing that with her, you know? Anyway. Sorry for the rant, haha. Loved the reaction. Your wife is a gem.

The song came out in 2012. I was 18 and just went through my first horrible heartbreak and would listen and cry to this in the car everyday. Now I’m 29 and I still can’t sing it without crying. I love that the 10 minute version is the real version she originally wrote. She didn’t add to it, she had literally sat down at her piano back when she was writing the Red album and her mom recorded her singing for 10 mins straight and this is what came out of her mouth lol. Genius. Will always be my fav Taylor song ❤
@nurulak4236

Fun Fact about All Too Well 1. It was originally written as a 10 minute song but she had to cut it down to fit with regular album length 2. She didnt think much about the song hence not making it a single but turned out fans love it so much. She used to not be able to sing/perform it cause it made her cry. But she said fans loved the song so much and gave the song new meaning for her. 3. The song is allegedly about the relationship she had with an older guy and the line "turning 21" was because the older guy skipped her birthday party and she waited for him. The other perspective of this moment could be seen in her other song titled "The Moment I Knew (Taylor's Version)". 4. Fans keep asking for her to release the extended version (10 minute vers) so when she re-recorded Red (Taylor's Version) in 2021 and she had more creative freedom in producing her album, she decided to record the 10 minute version, made it a single, and made a short film/music video about it. 5. One of the amazing thing about this song is that there is no repeated line/verse except for the lyric title 'All Too Well'. 6. The only time she performed the 10 minute version on television is for SNL in 2021. You should check that live performance too! 7. Since this is arguably one of her best songs and also a major fan favourite, it becomes the fixed regular setlist on every of her tours along with her other hits like Love Story (Taylor's Version).

I haven’t even watched this reaction yet and i love Sebs journey. I was an ‘anti’ swift, not a hater, just not a fan. But folklore and evermore turned me. Now I love watching others who were once like me actually start to get it. Start to understand her popularity, something I never understood. People don’t have to love her, or become a swiftie, but an understanding and appreciation I believe, i dont’ want to be presumptuous, I think Sebs may be coming around.

Always fun to see new Swifties coming to appreciate her work. The 10 minute version of ATW came out on her re-record of Red in 2021. While she’s directed and co-directed several of her MVs now, this was considered a short film because of the extended dialogue scene. Note that there’s literally a gas stove with a big light over it in-between them in that scene. Swift also makes really effective use of set design and lighting to explore the characters. In the scene where they’re dancing in the kitchen, the bf is shown in cool light while Sadie’s cast in warm light. And they seem to be doing The NY Times crossword puzzle in the scene with the newspaper - a time-honored couples activity. Seems very Gyllenhaal-coded because some people might consider it slightly pretentious, and very Taylor-coded because she’s such the wordsmith. There’s also a making of video if you want to see Taylor in action as a director. Interested to see what she does with the feature film she’s slated to write and direct.

i just love Taylor's ability to write something about herself and it's so relatable. even if it's not right now or the entire song, there is always something that comes to mind in our own lives. it's so powerful the way her POV is singing it to us but then it shifts to talking to him directly. even before this short film, this song was like reading a book, you could visualize the story.

When feeling down or needing to check out, I would slap on the phones to Pink Floyd. I am in obsessed with Taylor Swift!! Lyrics in her songs are amazing! Melodies set up the chorus lines in many cases an added bridge is catchy. I stopped trying to reject her music last year, now except it as true art. This girl is a generational phenom. The "Era's" tour is nothing short of what a top athletes would produce. 44 songs nightly for 3+ hours to sell out stadiums. Like Led Zeppelin in the 70"s The Era's movie is amazing.

Many times filled by concierge desks at luxury hotels, etc. same thing for sporting events. If you know what day/time the pull the plug on coverage and will sell tix to well informed / savvy buyers. I used to score 49ers tix at Candlestick Park in SF by going to the will call window at noon the day before games and ask. “Do you have any unused tickets from coverage”?

Ever since seeing videos of Queen’s performance at Wembley, I’ve always wanted to see an epic show there. We were in London a couple years ago and our hotel was in the shadows of Wembley. Harry Styles (my youngest’s other favorite) was playing the night we were leaving for Paris. She got to hit up the merch stand at least. She’s most likely gonna get tix for Miami. As much as I’d like to see her, not sure if I’m gonna go on that one. Might just let it be girl’s trip. Cheers!

It would be fun of you or hopefully you and your wife react and post your reaction to her behind the scenes for the making of this short film. That will give you more sense of her personality and hands-on abilities as an artist.

So many people misunderstand the dialogue where taylor freaks out over the whole "you dropped my hand" part. So many people seem to be thinking it was just an example of how Jake was insensitive and gaslit her and it certainly was. But it was moreso meant to demonstrate how the age gap really affected the relationship. Obviously, the whole hand thing was pretty minor and silly but Taylor being so young, it meant alot more to her than it would to a 30 year old. So it just goes to show how Jake was just too old for her but the fact he was with her, he should have been prepared to handle those sort of things because he's older and there is an obvious maturity difference. Its such a great example of why most age gap relationships never work out and aren't healthy. Especially if the older person is still somewhat immature for their age which Jake obviously was.

@jm531b2 oh I know, I was just saying what the scene represents. It was excellent acting, they are both fantastic actors and they DEFINITELY understood the assignment lol

I mean I understand being sad not to be able to go and see Taylor, and I would never pay for the insane resale price (even more because I fear these tickets might get cancelled in Europe as they are name specific). That being said I have tickets for 3 dates in Europe next year, but not London which is where I live, and if I can get my hands on tickets at face value for one of the 6 dates in London, I'll go again!

I really like you guys’ reaction. I think Sebs would find it doesn’t go over his head ; but her writing in this case is very dense, and if one talks a lot during her music it’s easy to miss something. For myself I have to listen to her songs several times to get it all.

Okay, Sebs, you said "don't be mean" in our comments, so I am going to be as gentle as I can be considering that I wanted to punch you every time that you talked over the vocals. First, let's establish that I am a metalhead who morphed into dark electronic and then on to EDM. Now evolved, I retain my love and passion for all three genres to this day. I was subscribed to your channel and binging your videos after you were recommended by KZbin. IT WAS YOU (and Allie) that introduced me to that first Taylor Swift song. I kept binging you while also binging Taylor Swift. I do not "love" every song that she does. In fact, I do not even like some of them, but the ones that hit me... well, let's just say that it is real and it is deep. Of all those that hit, and there are many, NONE surpass "All Too Well." Why do you deflect when these tracks go deep-diving into emotional wounds that are universal to any man or woman who has experienced adolescence, coming of age, innocence lost, and maturity's jagged path? If you deny that you "deflect" then go back and watch yourself watching THIS video and others before it. I got so mad at you that I unsubscribed until today. Yes, I broke up with you. I obviously couldn't stay mad, but the first video that I see, this one, upon my return... still deflecting? If I were in a position to make demands, I would demand that you give this one a redo. I would demand that you turn it on, turn it up, sit down, shut up, and soak in every word and image without pause. After that, rewatch it to capture your commentary about its parts and simply edit them into the original pure reaction so that it will work for KZbin guidelines. Do this with all of your videos going forward, and you will be onto something even better than anything you have done so far.

She actually wrote the ten minute version, alone crying I think in one take. Her mom recorded it. She shortened it for the album- then she released the full version when rerecording. ❤

The actor is Dylan O’Brien. He’s very talented and even played the drums for Taylor’s song, Snow on the Beach from Midnights.

The song actually started as a 10 min song and they cut it down to the shorter version for the album. Since the song became a fan favorite she decided for the re-recording of "Red" to put out the 10 min version.

hahhaa when Love Story first came out, I was like 11-12yo who didn't have any global knowledge. Couldn't tell apart between UK and US to know that one is governed by royalties and one by presidency (I'm SE Asian). I also thought Taylor was a princess-singer too 🤣

I’ve never seen the ending before, so good. He’s out there somewhere kicking himself rn. Tell your daughter that Taylor is a self made princess, not like those ones in the books who were born princesses, she worked for it and that’s better.
