Hi Lauren! I grew up doing musical theater and did it all the way through high school. As kids, my brother and I were obsessed with Cats because we had done it in theater...and we tried to make our own Cats video. Safe to say it is the BEST home video we have. I'm always in tears laughing so hard at how ridiculous we were. My favorite musical of all time though is Chicago. But I love them ALL! Anything I can sing along to!

So.... I did some digging concerning the GEMA-song-leak-thing. Being german myself, it might have been a little easier for me than for you ;) GEMA is in fact a prety big thing here and EVERYBODY knows it, because it will block for example youtube-videos because in Germany you won't have the right to watch them. The site is definetely legit. *I'M NOT AN EXPERT* at how it actually works, but as far as I understand: If you are a (musical) artist and you 1) want your music to be played here and 2) make any kind of money out of it - you have to go through GEMA. But I have no idea how much in advace you'd have to do that. I wanted to try out if these songs legitimately came up - they did. Now, here's where it gets confusing. Taylor Swift is listed as a composer and texter for each of these songs - but every time under a slightly different name. For "Pretty Words" it's just "Swift, Taylor", for "AUA" it's "Swift, Taylor Alison" and for "Familiy" it's "Swift, Taylor A". Each of these has their own identification number, so are not considered as one person by the site (? - again, *I'm no expert*, I'm just stating what I found and made of it). Also, despite being already registered as a "Werkfassung", so as a usable form of the song (Sorry, I'm really bad at trying to explain stuff), none of the songs have an ISWC-number (yet?). ISWC stands for International Standard Work Code, to my understanding it's an international identification number a song would get, once it has been confirmed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The lack of such a number - in my eyes - might put the legitimacy of these songs into question. Another thing: all of the songs are listed to have different publishers (so, like the label, I guess?). "Pretty Words" has "BMG GOLD SONGS", "Family" has "WOLF COUSINS" and "AUA" has "TAYLOR SWIFT MUSIC" and Sony as a sub-publisher. A quick google search confirmed that all of these are existing labels. But wh would TS7 songs be registered under different labels? Also also: only "Pretty Words" is listed with a duration of 4 minutes, the other, apparently, are 0 minutes and 0 seconds long. Er, what? I decided to look a little closer into "Pretty Words", just as an example. The GEMA-site listed a "HILL, TRAVIS FREDRICK" as a co-composer to this song. So I did a little digging. His name came up in a blogpost apout a composer called Carusoe (rlosche.typepad.com/rlosche/2012/02/nail-song.html). I _didn't read the whole thing_ but as far as I understand, the author suggest that these two people might be the same person. They then continue to state that this composer wrote songs for Lady Anetbellum and Sugarland, for example, which had me very(!) excited because - is Taylor going back to country???? I also did a cross-search for this composer on ASCAP afterwards (a site mentioned in the blogpost, that describes itself as a "the only performing rights organization in the US owned and governed by songwriters, composers and music publishers" (www.ascap.com/). I have never heard of it before, but maybe you have. Either way, it does bring up songs by a certain "Carusoe Scooter" if you search for Travis Fredrick Hill - including a song called "Pretty Words", co-wrote by none other than Taylor Swift. BUT! - it does not list a performer for the song (yet?). To me, the fact that two totally different sites listed the song, makes it seem kind of legit, at least in my eyes. Or someone just went to great length to troll us. Who knows. If this means that these songs will be on TS7 - I'm not sure. My most optimistic guess, I'd say, would be that "AUA" might become a song on TS7, seeing as it's the only one that lists the same label/publisher as previous TS-songs (I double checked using "Our Song" and "Delicate" as examples. "Our Song" btw does have an ISWC-number, but "Delicate" does not - so maybe it does not mean as much as I previously thought?). The other two, however, seeing as they list different labels, might be songs that she wrote, but that she might have sold to other artists - with different labels. But that is just my guess. I don't know if this makes sense at all and I have absolutely no idea if it proves anything. But I had a lot of fun looking into it (and thereby procrastinating studying) and it certainly got me excited for what might be to come from Taylor Swift this year. I feel like it might be a different era of Taylor Swift, I feel like TS7 might be positive and she did say at the 2018 amas "I'm so glad you like this chapter but you might like the next one better" so maybe she changing a genre or having positive happy songs, if I recall songs she sang for movies do basically describe an era, for example, 2009 she released "today was a fairytale" for a movie she starred in called valentines day, the song was released before speak now album and her speak now album was somewhat a magical era and sweet, and soft country and that was basically what "today was a fairy tale" was, Another example in 2011 "safe and sound" for hunger games before Red was released was a soft sensitve song and that's what the red album was, in 2013 before 1989 was released she had a song called "sweeter than fiction" from one chance was a pop song more of a dancing song kind of, was basically her switching genres for 1989 since it was all pop album, in 2016 before reputation she sang "I don't wanna live forever" for fifty shades darker and the music video was like a Taylor we didn't expect like she was drinking and being more open and that's what reputation was, she was being open and happy and drinking, so maybe she possible can be releasing a song for a movie or maybe a song for her upcoming film "cats" but if she does release a song before TS7 that won't be a single we can most likely expect her whole album to be similar to that song... my bad for going all swiftie I been obsessed with Taylor since I was 4 when her self titled album was released in 2006😂❤ also I'm totally subscribing this is too good and you are so pretty

And to answer your question, yes, she used to do that in the past as all her songs have to be registered at some point before getting released but now that people know about them she usually sticks to websites like Sony and BMI where she is signed and waits until she releases them or is about to (I could be wrong but they may have a way to keep people from searching them before they get released) to avoid the titles of her new songs leaking or those that she’ll never release that used to leak all the time pre- Red era. It wouldn’t cause the actual songs to leak anyway but as we know she’s very careful with any info on her music now hence why they’re often registered by their co-wrirters (as was the case with Babe which was first found in January 2013) when the titles do occasionally leak. She also avoids that with the weird code names. For instance I saw End game on Sony’s website a few months before Rep came out but I didn’t know the title as it was labeled Ally test song. lol So it’s not as simple as all newly registered song titles attached to her name are fake. It’s just that they are sometimes legit songs by her and sometimes not. You just have to google the songwriters to weed out the fakes. 😂

Yes GEMA is a paid only publisher. They had some of the 1989/reputation songs registered. Family is written by the same people she wrote Dancing With Our Hands Tied. So it's probably a reputation reject. Pretty words was written with a country writer so it's probably an old country song she sold to an act or something. AUA actually turned out to be registered for an Austrian kid show version of IKYWT for kids and it's how they say 'trouble' there. :)

i´m from germany and the gema is an organization about performance rights and copyright. it says that the song AUA! is composed and written by taylor, shellback and max martin. it also says that the original publishing companies are taylor swift music and sony/atv tree publishing. the specified song length is 00.00 minutes. but i also don´t bellive this is true. it´s not how taylor would leak her songs and the song names, in particular AUA!, doesn´t sound like her. love, lilith
