When listening to “Soon You’ll Get Better,” I was emotional during the whole song, but it was the line “And I hate to make this about me // but who am I supposed to talk to // what am I supposed to do // if there’s no you” that really got me. In one line, Taylor perfectly summed up what it feels like to have your mom fight cancer. I am so grateful for Taylor and her music, and I loved the raw emotion you showed in the video, Lauren. Having a loved one with cancer is an experience that I never knew how to deal with - like you are grateful they are alive. You feel guilty for your own pain with everything they are going through. One of the things I like about how both her and Joe are keeping their relationship private is that we don't have really any precise idea about their life together. All we have is Taylor's lyrics and I think that's magical. The love we get from her songs seems something so unique, so pure to me and yet she speaks about absolutely normal situations we could all experience.
