The beat doesn't have a drop and build-up is building throughout whole song is because it represents anxiety. Anxiety builds-up but don't drop so easily and she wanted that be reflected in this song. Info about track 5 significance in Taylor's discography: track 5 is always the most vulnerable and most of the time the saddest song on the album, it could be described as kinda like a heart of the album. For Swifties it's very important so Taylor always chooses very carefully which song will be track 5. Also Taylor doesn't have any plastic surgery, she's natural, but she does some make-up tricks to make her nose look slightly thinner and sometimes wears push-up bra to make her chest look slightly bigger.

wow I thought that was a common saying. So when you're doing things that will ultimately end up badly or might not be the wisest decisions/choices people will sometimes tell you "don't cut off your nose just to spite your face" and it's a warning of some sort to not hurt yourself just to hurt others.

With Taylor's music, you can either find interesting upbeat production or you can find absurdly beautiful production (not necessarily upbeat) because even her production has link with the lyrics of the song. The Archer's production doesn't intentionally have a drop because the sound is exhibiting how anxiety sounds.

it said midtempo song in the description-- there is no beat drop bc if you pay attention to the lyrics you can see she is talking about looming anxieties she has, the instrumental displays the feeling shes trying to convey, especially in the bridge the lyrics and instrumental correspond

She’s had some nose jobs so that line can be a reflection on that for sure, but also it’s about the industry and the pressure it puts in artists aka she was so young like fifteen when she became a star. She wasn’t in charge of all her decisions and i don’t think it’s odd to say she was coerced into things like plastic surgery originally. IMO the song deals with self hate and is about how broken she believes she is because of fame. She doesn’t believe anyone can stay with her/for her in the long run. She’s written all these speeches but doesn’t think anyone could accept the real her.
