Hey! The 16-35 2.8 G Master is my favorite for sure. I started out with this one and it was nice too, for half the price - amzn.to/38NCIuB - not as great because of the f4 aperture and colors aren't quite as good. I haven't tried their 14mm lens yet, but It seems like it'd be a pretty great lens setup for gimbal work + would allow more low light flexibility with the wider aperture. amzn.to/3G9hsM6 (with this one you could just use the super35mm crop on some shots to get a medium focal length to change it up too) There's always the option of renting too! Check out lensrentals.com if it is available in your area - lenses are pretty cheap if you want to try some out before buying!

Usually just on the middle of the room somewhere that the focus spot will be able to focus on things like the floor or the wall during the movement and not change too drastically. Manual focus works great too if you focus mid-room since it won’t change (if your camera doesn’t have great focus)

With FB/Insta/KZbin having different formats, how do you approach cropping to fit all the different social sites? Thanks in advance.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! If you’re using the same footage for everything (horizontally filmed) I would do my main edit first, export for fb/KZbin at 4K 16:9 ratio. Then copy that sequence/project and paste it onto a vertical 5x4 or 9:16 timeline depending on if it’s for an Instagram post or reels, and shift the framing on each shot to where it’s best in that crop. Tip for shooting would be to start all of your shots further back and shift your cuts back a few seconds to get the most in frame or shoot a bit wider and in 4K if possible so you have the most room to work with for the more narrow crops 👍 ideally you could also shoot differently per platform so you’ll have a more fitting piece of content for everything (shoot horizontal for fb, KZbin and vertical for IG/reels/fb stories/tiktok) but that will take more time to shoot and edit so your call 👍👍

Hey, great helpful video. Which settings do you adjust for exposure? Aperture, shutter speed? hear a lot of conflicting info lol. Thanks!
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Hey! Depends on the type of shot and how much i want to keep in focus. I like to stick with the base ISO as much as possible (different for every camera) , and almost always stick to 180 degree shutter rule. Usually I just adjust Aperture or ISO (if needed). Or sometimes change frame rates to a slower one to get more light in (and move slower). Typically 30fps works best for me unless I want something super slow motion then I’ll use 60fps. A lot depends on what camera you’re using and how it performs with different settings, for example Sony a7siii can do 640 and 12800 iso super clean so you can use almost any frame rate/aperture you want.

There are plenty of real estate websites that represent some nice homes in my general area that lack videos that I would like to approach and ask if they are interested in my service, but I'm not exactly sure how it works. Sometimes the website offers an agent to speak with me as they believe I am a potential buyer and I've been tempted to message them back right on the website and ask if they're interested but that doesn't seem right. Should I find the email for the entire website and speak to the company or just speak with an individual agent directly?

Hey! I'm not super familiar with Nikon gear but those look like they'd be pretty good from what I see on B&H reviews. Only concerns I'd think about are: how does your camera do with low light ? Does it get noisy quick with high ISO's? If it struggles it will be hard to get clean video footage at f4.5 on interiors when they don't have optimal lighting. I wonder if something like the Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f2.8 Zero-D Lens for Nikon would be worth trying out though, even with it being manual focus only for your wide shots. Definitely wouldn't go with MF only if you're doing other stuff than real estate though - too hard for tracking people and most things solo, but IMO kind of fun for real estate shoots ! I used one on my more recent BMPCC6K Pro Video and liked it a lot. Also sigma is a great lens option for any camera body - they have a 10-20mm also that looks nice! I'd go with whatever you'd feel most comfortable with and fits your budget for now! Can always invest in upgrades later. Sometimes it makes more sense to invest upfront or invest more later depending on what you need! ALSO make sure to check out lensrentals.com - lenses are really cheap to try out for a day or so before buying (and you can buy used gear from them sometimes if you want to keep it). That's how I try out any new gear.

Great setup! Starting with an inspire 2 is pretty intense! How do you like it? The only lens I’d recommend would be a 50mm equivalent prime. So if your camera is apsc somewhere close to 35mm. That way you’ll have a great option for detail shots and isolating important features with a blurry background. Not totally necessary but adds an artistic feel to the videos.

@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Usually 30fps at 1/60 shutter speed. Sometimes 60fps at 1/120 shutter speed if it’s brighter though.

Great video! What time do you typically try and do these shoots at? I saw you mentioned midday, I know others recommend golden hour or sunset to get more dramatic shots, but from mid day to sunset would be a lot of time. What is your experiences with realtors and how much time they expect you to be there? I just finished college and I'll be starting my first job soon and was wondering if 4 hours is too long to be on the site? maybe from 5-9pm to catch the sunset? I just don't know if at 5pm would make the suns angle a problem for getting these shots. Do you account for the angle of the sun, if so what do you look for? Sorry if it seems like a loaded question, I'm just new and I don't want my timing of the shoot to mess the whole thing up because I can't control the weather. Last thing, have you done photography with these shoots? If so, how much more time to do ask to be on the site to take photos and video? and do you typically try to do photos first or last? I'd really appreciate the insight! Thanks for the great information!
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo3 жыл бұрын
Great questions! Depends on how fast you are and how ready the house is when you get there. I can typically do photos + video + drone + sunset in about 3-4 hours depending on how big the house is. I charge extra for sunset because of the extra time. But if you don’t need sunset shots, mid Day is great because it’s easier to work with more light and just choose whether or not to do exteriors first or after you do everything else depending on which side of the house the light is on.

Hi Taylor, this has been so helpful, loads of information packed in without it being overwhelming! I'm originally an Event & Music Photographer but looking to get into Retail Estate photography/videography and this is unbelievably helpful. Just one question! Are you shooting at 1080 or 4k? I'm asking as I get a lot of jitter when I slowdown my footage in post! Thanks!
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
So glad it's helpful for you! All the examples in this video are in 1080p from the EOS R - mostly shot at 30fps or 60fps. Now I shoot in 4k as much as possible for client work though! Lots more room in the edit & more detail is nice :) Are you using the right shutter speeds? Wondering if you might be dropping frames or something like that. Should be double the frame rate (30fps = 1/60, 60fps = 1/120 etc.) and when you slow that down onto a 24fps timeline it plays back smoothly. Let me know if that helps or if you want to share an example ! -TB
@achanvisual2 жыл бұрын
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Yeah, i'm based in England so my Sony A7iii is set at 25p shooting at 1/50 for 4k and then 100p shooting at 1/200 for 1080p. Slowing down in a 24fps timeline is what I was doing, hence the confusion haha. I've seen it could be my gimbal that isn't completely balanced, is this possible to cause jitter? So many variables! This is all still very new so apologies haha! I can message you on instagram if it's easier for you. Thanks.

Which stop of ND filter u use for exterior video? Sunny day~ thanks!
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Usually anywhere from 2-8 stops. Depends a lot on which frame rate I'm using. Hardly need one for 60fps or 120fps since the shutter speed will be higher , but need more for 24fps & wide open aperture shots (f1.2-2) if you're doing those as well.
@WeiK02 жыл бұрын
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo oh icic good point!!! So far I am using 60fps + 16 35 f4 is. I may not need the ND filter. Not shooting c log yet. Sometimes I feel the sky is not very blue. Do u think I should get a polarized filter or shoot in c log and make the sky bluer in primere. I try both gimbal and slider. Feel like gimbal is faster. Slider is accurate. But just too slower for the workflow. Need a tripod too. Thanks so much for your response.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
@@WeiK0 Awesome ! Yes , CLOG will help , and circular polarizer will help even more with bringing in the clear sky 👍👍 Also great for shiny surfaces like flooring and countertops indoors if it’s bright enough to use. If you have canon mirrorless check out the behind the lens insert filters since it’s easier to combine two if you’re going to use them both. (Probably would go with VND behind lens and CPL in front if possible)

Would you advise shooting in a aperture of 1.4 for real estate?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo3 жыл бұрын
Probably not most of the time since you want details of selling points. But if your shot has foreground elements and you’re not super close to it it can work! Usually I stick with f1.8+ for details and 2.8-4 for wide shots
