Kelly is just Kelly. What you see is what you get. Her personality hasn't changed a bit over the past 20 years. Not even after becoming a mega superstar. She's very likable and engaging. She's like all of us. We have have hidden scars and broken hearts. She just puts it into her music. I wish nothing but the best for her in the future. I think she has a level head and will be ok!

It’s been mentioned a couple times that it was about her father who left…but what wasn’t mentioned yet is that her husband (now divorced) is who she’s singing about. He’s the one that rebuilt her trust in men, both as a man and a father to their kids.
@creinicke1000
@creinicke1000 2 жыл бұрын
But I assume that he didn't leave his kids, just they divorced. He was stepson of Reba.. and she and Reba were close, and I think still are. Divorce doesn't mean you don't stay a father. I previously posted that I'm thankful for getting to know and forgive my father.. since as a child I didn't know all the facts.. but that doesn't take away the many broken hearts of children that Father's left behind.. nowadays a mother can't keep kids away so there's no excuse and many fathers are great fathers even if Divorced. I really don't know about her relationship with her hubby.. but I did hear they tried very hard to work it out.. but who knows? Divorce is so hard on kids.. I honestly Dont know if staying together or the kids is good or bad.

I have seen this performance so many times and cry my eyes out each time. Can't imagine the heartbreak a child feels being abandoned by their father. Keith Urban stated on an interview that he thought about his daughters while Kelly was singing and just lost it. Great song, but wow......

It sounds terrible to say that I like to see people cry. But what I mean is, in particular, Keith Urban, that he retains that human factor that many people lose when they rise to stardom. When I watch Kelly's show, she always has tissues on hand because she feels everything. I relate very deeply to that. Any high emotion situation is likely to have me in tears.

When you are a good father, you just CANNOT imagine...my husband didn't realize how horrible a father he had until HE became a father. When I wrote my Dad a letter about how great a father he was, my husband read it and nearly began to cry because it just gutted him to see the difference. I don't think he realized what a good father could really be until he met my Dad and then we had our own children. Loved your reaction.

Craig, I'm one of your followers who this song portrays my life. My biological father walked out on me when I was 2-1/2 years old. He rarely had contact with me. When I was 7-1/2 years old, my mother remarried a man who had two children, one was a girl 5-years old and one was a boy 2-1/2 years old. This man chose to be my "daddy". He worked two and three jobs to support three children and a wife. In 2018, my Mama passed away in March unexpectedly from pancreatic cancer and in August my Daddy died from three different kinds of cancer. I was blessed to be with both of them when they left this world. I was blessed to have this honorable man in my life for 45 years. of course, I knew who Kelly Clarkson was, but I never really listened to her until she joined The Voice as a judge. After I saw this performance on KZbin, I started checking out her other music and history. I admire Kelly a lot! It's a shame that her then husband that she spoke about turned out to be a real jerk and do nothing but take her money. On the plus side, they share custody of their two children. Her ex-husband is the stepson of country music legend Reba McEntire. I am very thankful that you did this reaction and showed your true emotions just like Keith Urban did. God Bless You!!!

More Kelly! She can sing absolutely anything and her voice just gets more and more stunning as she matures. It has a smoky quality it didn't have at the beginning of her career. I mean ... the power that woman can put out there! I'm obsessed with a duet she did with Jake Hoot, called, "I Would've Loved You." He was on her team on The Voice and won a few seasons ago. He's mostly country and she brings in her country roots in this song. But really, you can't go wrong with anything she does. I'm glad you reacted to this one, it's so vulnerable and gives you a sense of her heart. She wrote, "Because of You" when she was 16. Another peek into her early life that shaped her. I'd recommend the video, as it furthers the story. I love your reactions, they're so honest and real. I can cry along and say, "See, it's not just me!"

I can relate in a different way in that my dad was never there for his kids. He never left, but my brothers got into so much trouble because he was not there emotionally..for all of us. I gravitated towards my mom. It was not until I turned 30 that my dad wanted me back into his life every Friday when I went to visit. He passed away 13 years ago and I looked after my mother for the last 5 years of my life. I do not regret getting back in my father's favour nor looking after my mother. All children should look after their parents if they are capable. Thank you for this song.. it made me , a 57 yr old male cry again.

This song breaks my heart as my ex husband left overnight. There was no warning. Over time I realise he didn’t want the responsibility of being a husband and a father. He abandoned my boys when they were 2 and 8. He took off to the other side of Australia and saw them 4 times in 3 years. Moved back and got into their lives and then a few months later he took off permanently. Stopped his child support. They haven’t heard from him since 2014. His excuse via text message was “my life was a lie”. That “lie” permanently damaged the children for life. The mental and emotional damage caused is heartbreaking. I have raised my boys and they are now 15 and almost 21. Even through all the struggles I am so proud of the young men they have become. Anyone reading this please make sure wanting children and being there is your number 1 priority.

I loved this reaction, it was very genuine. I’ve seen some people react to this who really didn’t seem to get it, just dead face. I’ve seen this performance probably a hundred times between just watching the performance and the reactions. I cannot do it without tears. Not once. I don’t care if they knew the back story or didn’t, just listening to the lyrics and her emotions pouring out, that should be enough. I can’t relate either, my father was one of the only decent men in my life until he died, but I can empathize. I really appreciated you showing what this song was meant to provoke. I’m a huge Kelly Clarkson fan, ever since she won Idol (and she was the first back in 2002) and I’ve known the back story of this song long before she recorded the song. Her father took off when she was 6, she tried many times to form a relationship but he just never seemed interested .. until she had money. Even then their relationship was strained. He was at some of her Idol performances but I’m guessing it wasn’t genuine on his part, just a “show” of support. It became embarrassing after a while to keep putting in the effort that he wouldn’t reciprocate. When she met her (unfortunately now ex) husband, he had two children from a previous marriage whom he still had great relationships with and spent time with them despite being divorced from their mother. This restored her faith that not all fathers are like hers and for the first time wanted marriage and children of her own. Hopefully he is still that father that is present in their children’s lives. Eventually her father died a couple of years after this performance. He wanted to explain himself, but she just didn’t want to hear it, which I understand. Another song to react to would be “Because Of You”, this was from much earlier in her career and it was about her parent’s divorce. Between her father leaving and her mother not taking the divorce well, her childhood was strained. It probably goes a long way into explaining her initial reluctance to getting married and having children. I always saw “Piece By Piece” as a sequel to “Because Of You”. The original video for the song is good, but also her 2006 Grammy performance of this song where she shows emotion then too (of course it didn’t help she was falsely diagnosed with cancer at this time), great performance nonetheless. You could do the original video to get a feel for the song and then do the Grammy performance. Up to you though. Again thank you so much for letting this song into your heart. 🤍

Kelly was 6 when her dad walked, according to the song; I was 7. I always try to sing along to this bc I adore it but I've yet to make it through without breaking down. For me, my dad left me and brother - he was 4, I was 7 - and I don't have children (can't - cancer) but my brother does. He was two girls, 8 and 1, and when I sing along to this, it's like I'm singing about my brother because he has completely restored my faith in fathers. He is the most amazing father I've ever seen. I asked him once how come he was just so good at it, considering the example we had, and he said he just thinks of our dad, and does the opposite. I am so proud of him and the father he is and one day, I will sit him down and show him this. I doubt he'll make it through without cracking either... Kelly has written something timeless here. Sooooo many people will relate to it, unfortunately. But if you're reading this, and you relate to it also, I hope you someone in your life now, who, like Kelly's (now ex)husband, restores your faith in fathers. Yes, there are some pieces of sh*t fathers out there; but there are also amazing fathers, too. A truly awesome piece of timeless art.

Beautiful…tears of power💫… by far one of the most cathartic songs of our time. There’s another one I would like to tell you about, I’ve told other reactors but no one has heard me which is OK, but I feel like you’re just the man to do it you’re so strong in your emotions and such a cool guy, there’s a goddess out there named Tori Amos, she has an underground following that’s huge and the reason why is because of this song. It’s called Me And A Gun, and if you watch her do it live back in the early 90s you can hear her silence a room full of people. She’s a very powerful force in our world and I’d love to see someone watch her. Beyond that she has hundreds of songs, she’s a very gifted pianist songstress and noted as one of the best live performers ever, all of that stuff but this song was her claim to fame. Hopefully you’ll get the chance to check it out and tell us what you think . ✌️💚🌻

My dad left when I was 5 I rarely saw him until I became an adult. Even after becoming an adult he was very absent. I told myself when I was looking for a man that I was going to find someone who was the opposite. At first my husband was that man. When we had our son he was the best and most present father. Over time he has become distant and hated us because our son is not normal. I am raising my son to make sure that he treats his wife with respect and love. I want him to know that a woman can do it all and he should stand by her and support her. I am raising our daughter to be strong and know she can be superwoman and be whatever she wants to. A man should love you and support you and you him. Never except anything less!

Her video "Because of you" broaches this subject also. I cannot imagine having a parent like that. My parents have not only been there for all their kids for our entire lives, they will celebrate 71 years of marriage in September. Happy anniversary Mom and Dad; I love you🥰

As kids.. when parents divorce we don't understand and can put a parent in a bad guy role. BUT as a grandparent now.. and after tumultuous relationship with my mother and a reuniting with my father.. I've realized it's not always black and white. My father definitely screwed up by not pushing to see and know his first 2 children.. and my sister never forgave him.. she viewed him as someone who abandoned her as depicted in the song.. But my view was different because circumstances forced me to be living near him as an adult with MY kids.. and I realized I didnt know the whole story. Sometimes we just can't fix things.. but I'm so happy I forgave him.

This showed up as I was scrolling so I had to stop and watch it. Sir, it is your reactions to this song and songs about abused kids that makes me know without a doubt that you are an amazing dad. I wish every kid had a dad like you. As always, warm regards from Kentucky.

Whew! I don't know why I do this to myself! I don't just tear up. I full out sob every time! I feel this song in my soul and even though I know it's going to rip my heart to shreds, I can't pass it by. Kelly is a phenomenal singer and I enjoy her show here in the USA. She's funny, personable, and her talent shows through in her show every day when she sings a viewer's request. And sings it very well! Great reaction. I was always jealous of kids who had both parents whether they stay married or not. I loved hearing you say that you'd never consider walking out or away from your children. ❤

I was one of those children who was left behind at a very early age. It effected me as I went into my teen years and I started searching for a father figure in older guys. That did not turn out well. But because of Gods grace and mercy I became a new person and was able to overcome the negative effects it had on me.

At least one or two tears fall when listening to this because my mom abandoned me and then when she was given a second chance she sold me literally into human trafficking, one drug addiction (sober for 3 yrs after many relapses) physical and mental abuse later she still abandoned me again

That is my daughters favorite version of that song...and yes she had Keith in tears...and everyone else too...its such a deep seeded song but an eye opener to those who contemplate abandoning their children. Ironically American idol changed stations and I think it's now in it's 5th season since switching to ABC... and I luuuuv Kelly on The Voice!!!

This song hits so hard for my kids. Their dad left and I tried hard to make it work let him see them anytime he wanted but he turned his back and spoke to me about them with pure hate. Il never let them feel hate or unloved they will always be loved and put first. I won’t now meet anyone as they had to see too much it’s there time to have all my attention until they meet someone who will love them as much as I do

I have seen this performance so many times and it gets me every time. I can’t relate to it either but it’s so heartbreaking and the tears just start flowing. I have been listening to Kelly since she won AI but she has gotten better and better over the years. Her vocals are tremendous but the way she emotes is amazing. She performed The Dance at the Kennedy Center Honors for Garth Brooks last year and that was amazing. She will be doing a Dolly Parton tribute at the ACM Awards OMG!!! ,March 7. Can’t wait to see that!

Yes, Kelly Clarkson was the first American idol, and it actually worked against her. She had to really work and push through tough times to prove she really did deserve to be in the music industry.

You should react to Kelly singing “I Will Always Love You” at an awards show last night. AMAs ??? Not sure. It’s really good. it was in tribute to Dolly Parton who was standing off stage.
