If they are almost similar for the feel and shots, they are very different when you compare the prices. Mizuno is the answer!

I had the JPX 900 Forged 2 years ago, nice irons, but definitely hard feeling with Boron. Ironically I had an issue with the 8 iron, the grooves collapsed after only about 10 rounds and a bunch of range sessions ! It was just over 1 year and Mizuno wouldn’t honor a replacement iron, so I bought one from Mizuno. I wound up selling them on eBay. Loving the TM P760’s, I’ll see how they perform against Ping i210’s !!

I play the P760’s and love them. I actually went to a Mizuno fitting and the hot metals were best for me but numbers wise I the p760’s were almost identical to how I hit the hot metals so I went with p760 due to the appeal of the smaller head. Just looked better at address for me

The 760s may not be photogenic. They look better on video than they did on photos I’ve seen. I’ll need to see them in person.

Mike, another very informative video. I have just been fitted at Mizuno for a JPX 919 Tour/Forged combo and the only thing preventing me from buying them is the TaylorMade P760 as it is a true combo set, designed as one from the off - it has speed foam in the 7 and longer irons and pure forging in the 8 and shorter so the longer irons should be more forgiving and hotter and the shorter irons should feel great and offer good feedback. I will hit the P760 in a couple of weeks to decide which set I prefer but the fact that the lofts of the 919 Tour/Forged have to be tweaked (affecting bounce I believe) is putting me off a little. Note the Mizuno JPX 919 Forged 4-PW retail at £899 and the TaylorMade P760 4-PW at £1043 at a well known internet golf store, so there is a premium for the TMs but not has much as all the hype would have you believe. Mike, what combo set would you choose based on a 14 (improving) handicap and your first-hand experience of the 919 Tour/Forged and P760s as a combo set? Thanks very much!

I love the P760, if your ball striking is decent then I would personally go for them. The 919 Forged are a little big on appearance for my liking, the Tour are very nice tho but not as forgiving in the longer iron than the 760.

Hi Mike, thanks for the advice. I will keep an eye out for your P760 long iron assessment in respect of its offset and apparent closed appearance at address. I will be hitting the 7 iron next week but I am not sure whether I can lay my hands on a 5 iron (the longest iron I carry) to see for myself how it looks at address. Keep up the great work. Regards, Dave

As always great video. Surprised that you have not yet done a video of the new srixon irons and comparison; say 785 and AP2 and 585 and AP3. I play original AP2 and am looking at a complete new set. I am considering srixon and find your videos very informative. K Coghlan

IMO, huge step down in the 760 looks coming from the 750/770. Guess they hired the designers from the Square Strike infomercial. Michael, I'm not sure, but is the slightly firmer feel in the 919f due to the slot and the thinner face (I believe the design only exists in the 3-7 irons)? I think it would be unlikely that the 3 PPM of boron added to the metal would cause the firmer feel? Thanks for the video.

Jan-Pierre Vidizzon can't see the back of the club at address. You're entitled to your opinion but to say it's a huge step down is ridiculous. A lot of folks didn't care for the looks of the P750 or 770, respectively. Nor did they seem to hold up per MANY. Just tired of the whining and drama regarding the 760's. Don't like the looks, no problem, don't buy them--it's that simple. Personally, the only thing stopping many is the cost. Nevertheless, I believe many will put these sticks in their bags as the reviews on feel, spin and consistently seem to be great. Have a great night.

@@amgolfer3591 Agreed, function is more important than form, but asthetics can promote confidence. Would you pick the Cleveland VAS irons if they gave you 4 yards and slightly better feel over the p760s?
@amgolfer35916 жыл бұрын
Oh Mr. Vidizzon, Cleveland VAS served their purpose, what in the mid 90's?? I knew a few people who loved the way they looked and functioned. Can't dispute that. Now, are you seriously trying to compare the aesthetics of the VAS irons to the TM P760's? Seriously, Jan-Pierre? This conversation is officially laughable now. Your analogy of evening bringing up the VAS irons is ridiculous. Why don't you ask Micheal to do a head-to-head?? Good heck my friend. You simply missed my point earlier BTW. Maybe you should find a forum that chronically complains about the aesthetics of golf clubs....good luck w/that BTW. I and many others find P760s aesthetically appealing. But I am well aware that the "true" test is actually holding them, pondering the thought of possibly owning them and then hitting them. It's feel and function as I like they way they look, but then again, I really don't know, do I? The more I see them, the more I like them. Have you actually seen them up close or hit them? Aesthetics are personal--what ONE may not like, 10 others may love and vice versa. I will tell you what, Jan-Pierre, why don't you do the logical thing and go and actually see them w/your own two eyes, feel them, maybe even hit several into the net at your local golf shop and then get back to us all w/your assessment? I think this makes perfect sense, yes? I mean didn't Michael recommend this exact thing at the end of his video? I sincerely hope you are getting what I'm actually saying, Mr. Vidizzon. Have a great night, sir.

Oh, you didn't any strike any nerve whatsoever. Making a point about the "chronic" complaining before you have even looked at them. Nothing more. I think you missed that. BTW, I play NO TM club. Don't assume.....Have a great day!!

@Sir Les the difference is PXG are a bespoke fitting company whereas TaylorMade are more run of the mill average golfers brand. Since PXG charge the earth, the others will take advantage and up their prices. I've bought into BENROSS, 1/4 of the price and similar performance. I truly hope TaylorMade get found out, and no one buys their over priced gear.

Could you review the Ben Hogan line? The Ft. Worth ($700 US for seven irons), PTx ($770,) and the hollow-headed Edge ($700) irons all seem to be excellent clubs, yet much less expensive than TaylorMade P760 ($1,400). It seems difficult to justify paying more for clubs that may be no better. Perhaps the Hogan's are more difficult for you to obtain for testing, but it could be an eye-opener for many. benhogangolf.com/collections/irons

JPX all the way. Price is cheaper and nobody has talked about whether the "foam" is durable. Will the foam stay in form over the years in changing climates? I play from 32f to 95f.
