Thanks Rick and Rob.........these really helped me decide on my irons......I used to be an 8... till I ripped my bicep tendon off.......and used Titlest CB's forever........with less flex and speed now, along with a 3/4 swing I have had to settle with.......I chose the RSi 1 to help me get back to 155 7 iron........You both really helped me decide and I love them........I hope you guys understand just how much you all on you tube help we mere mortals out here......much appreciated and back to a 10 hndp ..... going back down !!!!!

Cornwall1888 Whatever for, Rob made my point for me very well indeed, it would be nice if the lofts were engraved on them for when you are gapping your other clubs. Already commented on these clubs and have nothing to add. It has already been shown elsewhere that these are no better than the Ping equivalent without the slots so why would i buy these, its more to go wrong with wear.

I just got these last week. They are by far the easiest irons to hit and are very forgiving. I never hit them with more than 5-8 yards left or right of target. I had the Callaway Apex which are beautiful and feels awesome but I trade it in for the RSIs which are as advertised and more forgiving. They have one degree stronger lofts just about, but I have increased my distance 7-12 yards each club and decreased the dispersion on all my iron shots. Surprisingly good feel and feedback even on the pw-8 irons. Mis-hits happen so get these RSI 1's!

purchased these clubs with graphite shafts 4-aw, on average 7 yards longer than my old callaway edge irons. These irons hit the ball higher and a lot straighter, excellent clubs for mid handicap.
@metamurph
@metamurph 9 жыл бұрын
I would agree feel here and Nike pro combo is very similar. What was great here was dispersion. The other question would be workability difference and the tradeoff between distance and ball control. Some tmags I have used in past just hit it high and were hard to hit knockdowns with irrespective of shaft

The number on the bottom of the iron is irrelevant. There are no standards. Like you Rob, I'm a 13 hcp. I just got fitted for a set of Mizuno MP-54s. My 7 iron is 34* and 36.75" in length. The RSI 1 7 iron is 30.5* and 37" in length. The bottom line is your irons should work for your game. I like the more traditional lofts of the Mizunos as they give me more options from 150 yards and in which 80% of my approach shots are. In your situation, the RSI irons are arguably better suited for you since you already have plenty of options from 150 and in and likely would benefit more from improvements in the top end of your bag. If you know how far you hit each club and have good gapping with them between your wedges and hybrids then that's all that really matters. Great job on the review. Always a fan of your honesty. Hopefully we can both get down to single digits this year.

what bothers me about loft is it starts screwing the ends: wedges and hybrids

Rick/Rob it's not just the loft, it's the length also. Never mind faces lots,speed slots. If you grab a six iron, i25 for example you will get almost identical results, proven on other KZbin channels.

Distance, distance, distance ! Only problem is...the XR 7 iron is lofted like my Ping 6 iron (30 degrees). If compared these to the Tailor-made and the Pings. If you match up the lofts they don't go any further, plus they are loud ! On the other hand they hit nicely...

Rick, I'm fairly new to serious golf and hoping to get custom fit right after I limber up. Your tester previously averaged 135yds/7 iron and he was swinging stiff flex shafts, *(if I heard correctly). Last season I received a hand-me-down set of Blue Dot PING G5 irons 4-PW, Ping issued Regular Graphite shafts. My 'easy' 7 Iron is 150 and I've pushed it to 180. *(My 7 has always been my 'go to club' when I need a straight line guarantee. Would you suggest I swing a stiff shaft or is more info need when I get fitted? I appreciate and respect your opinion. Keep up the good work and THANK YOU from Philadelphia, PA...Over the pond.

Interesting video. With regards to lofts I think you do have to take note of them. TM's 7 irons are basically 6 irons and you don't seem to mind this - which is fair enough. But what if, next year they bring out a 7 iron with 5 iron lofts? Do you still not care? What if they do a 7 iron that is a 4 iron? I know that sounds ridiculous, but at what point does it change from "no big deal" to ridiculous? Personally, I find it annoying as I think it is the manufacturers purposely mis-leading it's customers.
@electronicsfan21
@electronicsfan21 9 жыл бұрын
Why is that a problem. Just take out a 3 iron and add a wedge. I like the thought of that actually. I have the rocketbladez which are strong and my gapping is just fine. These clubs do launch like traditional lofted irons. Without the stronger lofts they would actually lose distance. It's probably a necessity to have strong lofts to maintain ideal launch.

It does mean less Clubs at the other end of my bag, But Driver, 16.5* #3 Wood, 19* #5 Wood and 22* G30 4 Iron and the gaps are all perfect for me personally. So it can be done and work just fine, but I take your point.

I doubt whether Rob would have a 3 iron in the bag anyway. I would think he plays at least 1 hybrid to account for that. However, if you look at his Launch angles, they are actually pretty high, 22* with a 7 iron is very healthy indeed, so I doubt if he would have any trouble in getting the ball up in the air with a longer iron. Having said that, his spin rates are very low. 4200rpm with a 7 iron is very low, hence the relatively low peak height. I wouldn't say the ball is falling out of the sky, but it could certainly be better. That low spin and low peak height, is causing a slightly shallow decent angle, so holding firm Greens could well be an issue, but Launch angle is absolutely fine. Our Greens in the UK are rarely that firm so this may not be a major problem, but certainly, a slightly higher peak height and higher spin would be preferable, so trying a Regular flex may help a little, but Rick makes sure that he says that none of these Clubs are Custom fit for Rob, so they would certainly need some tweaking to maximize things, but certainly Rob has no issue with getting the ball up in the air, it's keeping it there, that a good fitting would sort out. But, I doubt the issue of a 3 Iron is relevant in Robs case. Simply increasing the spin rates is probably more relevant when it comes to Rob using a 5 Iron.

lethomadness I agree. Distance is almost irrelevant if accuracy is sacrificed. If you're more distance away from the Green, just take an extra Club to get there, it's not exactly rocket science is it? Having said that, I'm a low single figure Handicapper, and I play with Ping G30's!!! So perhaps I'm a secret distance chaser myself!! Lol.
