Going to make a similar note to what we posted on the SIM v. M5 video: the ball speed increase we're talking about in this video is 1.7%. We're not claiming every golfer will get this, it will depend on their golf swing and strike pattern. The spin profiles of these drivers are different, we tested them at the same loft. Please take the results for what they are: a test with one player on one particular test day. Those comparing this test's numbers to the M3 v. M5 video we did a year ago need to understand that comparison is irrelevant. Matt is not actually a robot, his swing is considerably different now and clubhead speeds are not the same as last year.

After watching this, the SIM Max will be in the running with the Ping 410+ to replace my current F9 which is definitely not forgiving enough for me with weight forward ! 21 rounds in 2019 with the F9 and i had a major 2 way miss according to Arccos >>>. Stats with F9 driver: Missed Left: 34.4%. Hit: 44.7%. Missed Right: 20.9%. I’m not the only one who has complained about the F9 face irregularities. I’m sure some of the 2 way miss may be due to my swing but not enough to validate it. @mygolfspy did a major study in 2019 on driver MOI and the F9 with weight forward had one of the least MOI’s and the Ping 410+ had the 2nd highest MOI (a PXG model had the highest MOI by a marginal amount). There has to be truth in these numbers ! Numbers dont lie !!!

Would like to see the clubspeed data, given the whole story around these drivers is shape in motion and how they are trying to make the head more aerodynamic than before, it seems like the obvious thing to look for when comparing. The faces have been maxed out for quite some time so the only gains in real terms by someone who strikes it reasonably consistently are going to come from either clubspeed or more optimized spin. Most other reviews dont seem to be picking up much of an improvement. I see McIlroy was saying hes all but certain he will be gaming SIM max this year as he likes it better.
@clubchampionmedia4 жыл бұрын
we'll need to do further testing before making any conclusions about the clubhead speed improvements. Because camera based launch monitors at times can read different shaped heads slightly differently for clubhead speed, we can't know 100% yet what is the technology and what is the reading variance.

Firstly, great video. Couple of questions? Are the club head speed numbers the same for both drivers? If so, what contributes to the ball speed increase seen in the SIM drivers when supposedly the M5/M6 with the speed injection ports took them to the limit?

NovaScene exactly if you square it everytime your ball speed will rise relative to a worse pattern with another club. All these clubs are too the limit now.
@clubchampionmedia4 жыл бұрын
@Brandon we standardize the tests as much as possible, these results aren't because the SIM was hit with a more square clubface. M5/M6 may have been measured at the limit last year, but we didn't see them producing the ball speeds consistently that other top 2019 drivers did.
@THEPlaidGamer4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ian, how is it that the driver is lower spinning and yet the MOI/forgivability is higher in it? I thought these were aspects that were correlated to one another. High Spin = High MOI/forgiveness ect Exciting stuff on the horizon for 2020! Keep up the fantastic work fellas
@jackvliet2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response, but a piece of MOI is how much the club "deflects"when you hit the ball. Imagine how much a fly swatter would deflect compared to a 2x4. But that's only a part of the moi data.

I would love to see more videos from these guys for someone with a driver swingspeed around 100mph. This is interesting but doesn't really apply to me as I can't generate that kind of speed.
