I can't say that this and the new Callaway offering has shown us anything to get too excited about, 2021 will probably go down as the year of Driver incremental gains with "Stability & Forgiveness" as the main focus. So far with the new releases I think that PING are in the driving seat (sorry couldn't resist that), but as ever the TXG Driver Bracket will be the Ultimate decider! PS Having watched the TXG review I now have 10 others to watch and wade through the usual BS and Bollox, damn I wish I had a life!

Very interesting, as always fellas. This may just be me, but I see a few parallels between SIM2 and a few other Taylormade drivers over the last decade. It seems that the story with this driver is not entirely dissimilar to what was said about R15 succeeding SLDR or the 2017 M1/M2 succeeding the 2016 versions. In the latter case, the parallels are striking, right down to the aesthetics: the 2017 M1 featured a darker carbon inlay compared to the 2016 model and SIM2 appears to do the same when compared to the SIM. Also in both cases, the sole of the newer club probably wasn't as good-looking as the outgoing model.

This video convinced me I just need to concentrate on my ball striking and not get a new driver. I thought it I was getting high spin rates with my driver because I was swinging too hard with a sim 2 max at 9 degrees (I’m currently at 4400 rpm). He swings about 2 mph faster than me with a 10.5 and barely ticks 2300 rpm. Definitely losing distance because of that.

Across the board there have been quite a few KZbin tests on the SIM2 lately. The data across many tests indicates the stock setup has a very low flight path, low backspin and the ball flight tends to pull, with no ability to mechanically correct that without a shaft change or a swing modification. Obviously you need to get fitted with a shaft that works for your swing. It appears they designed this for the race in pure distance with the understanding that distribution would pepper the landscape for the average golfer. You put a 15 handicapper behind that stock setup and you will have a mess on your hands and a lot of tuning to do. This club head was designed with only the pros in mind, not the average golfer. I’ll reserve final comments until I actually hit it but it initially appears to be a miss for TM this year. They could of easily designed a weight system inside the frame to hide the track system of the previous model. I’m surprised at the beginning Matt indicated on the golf course he thought it was more stable then the SIM, that was not his normal flight path during testing, and he has one of the most repeatable swings in the industry.
