That would be mint but he really needs an engineer to help design and modify the rear door and lift etc . And the whole bus needs everything gone through thoroughly by a heavy vehicle mechanic. It's not a small project and would probably be 50k plus to get it to where it should be
@partymstr44 күн бұрын
I have only seen a couple of comments on here about it, but I STRONGLY recommend that you get yourself a Truck/Bus specific navigation system that can keep you from accidentally damaging your investment of time/money into the bus project. Might also save you some fines from tickets as there are so many roads/bridges that are weight and size restricted and all it takes is one cop that doesn't care and will throw the book at you for not paying attention (seen it with truck drivers all the time as i'm a diesel mechanic). I also do understand that the bus is technically an RV and operated under a class c license, but either way just much easier with travel when doing much longer cross country road trips where the routes are not known. Been watching for a while and love all the content, keep up the great work!

@jesimss to each there own, just in personal experience with having to figure out how to turn around a 26 foot box truck (let alone a 40+ foot bus) on a two lane road with traffic building up behind me because the low bridge signage was only 25 feet before tmit was not a desirable experience.

Rand McNally Road atlas and plan the trip yourself! No better way than that! I’ve used Rand GPS and Garmin Dezl, while convenient, can and will steer you wrong. Good for on the interstate but once off the interstate they all try to knock off a 1/10th of a mile by turning when you shouldn’t. Main point can use them but common sense needs to be relied on! If your gut says “ehhhh” then don’t turn till you know you can there is always a 2 lane state route for a big vehicle to get you there.

To address the loose steering. See if there is a lash adjustment on the steering gear box. They say to make 1/4 turn adjustments. If you need to adjust it more than half a turn, its time to replace the gearbox.
@--_DJ_--4 күн бұрын
There are lots of things other than that which could cause a bit of a wander. But you are right, you don't want to get greedy with the adjustment. They wear in the center and if you get carried away adjusting will bind once you start turning where the gear isn't worn as much Driving something that fills the lane also just takes some getting used to.
@frankietuned4 күн бұрын
@-_-DJ-_--- of course this would be last resort after checking all tie rod ends, ball joints, king pins, spiders etc. The adjustment I suggested is what actually worked on my RV. I just figured I'd make a short to the point post. As these comments get lost in KZbin land. Also, taking into consideration Taylor's mechanical knowledge and capabilities.
@--_DJ_--4 күн бұрын
@@frankietuned I just wanted to add the why you don't want to over adjust for the most part. I've never had much luck with box adjustments. But the ones that were bad for wandering were usually on E series vans that I'm pretty sure came from the factory requiring you to saw at the wheel to go in a straight line.

Hope you guys had a great Christmas and have a good NYE. Does the transmission have a vehicle speed sensor you can use? I know it won't be correct all the time without changing the diff ratio in the Holley. But at least it will keep up. GPS speedo's aren't even good on the street, since they don't cope well with elevation change. Yes definitely get yourself a dedicated GPS, get one designed for RV's or trucks. Then you can enter the bus size and weight, which will then keep you off roads you should be on. Edit: The steering box on the bus will have slack adjustment in it.

Excellent addition of the wheel chalks when getting the car on/off the lift. When driving the bus , Never let the other cars drive your bus, never worry about the person behind you. Let them go around. You need to get a Garmin Trucker gps with life time maps. This is very important for height, weight, and length. You don’t want to end up on a narrow bridge, or worse a bridge with low clearance.

Double axle rear compared to one 70-75 mph is very good. I have a 38ft Monaco diesel pusher non tag axle with a 28ft 2 axle trailer with car and golf cart for drag racing and 65-70 is top for me with a 8.3 Cummins engine

For fuel, apply and get an open roads account. A lot of Rvers use it so you can use the semi pumps at truck stops. It links to your bank account and you get discounts on diesel depending on the station. Much easier and way faster fueling than a regular diesel pump.

Maybe you can find the time to make a new dash/ console for the bus where you can create everything new and integrate the new GPS system (can't say this enough, get the Truck/Bus GPS system). You can have all the time and space to create something really amazing and replace the current dash with the new one. Use good connectors on everything and yeah.. it is going to suck to find all the wires going into the current dash but if you make a wirediagram it should be relatively easy to convert that to a new connector. I enjoyed this video, I love the bus! And the new track looks cool as well.
